  • This is my first time watching this scene (not the show). I guess it was around this time I started university, so I missed the whole season. Tina Yothers is trending so it was curiosity that ultimately got me here. Coworkers are wondering why I (the resident anti-social who hardly cracks a smile) am ROFLMAO so loudly.

  • I would LOVE to know how many times they had to redo this scene because they were laughing too hard! Even all these years later, this clip STILL cracks me up and is the reason my parents never taught me to drive in the kitchen! LoL Wish there were more shows today like this one! LOVE this show!

  • best episode I have ever seen by far for any sitcom and I'm not kidding

  • This thing is the most entertaining thing I have seen:)

  • I remember the first time I saw this part, I was literally almost on the floor laughing. It was so hilarious, and I laughed more than I ever had. Great show. Love the sitcoms that were more like this one.

  • Now why wasn't MY first driving lesson like that? ...oh wait, it was... but nowhere NEAR as funny! :P

  • i really wish Alex was in this scene, that would've been soooo funny!!!

  • 4 people never went to the Keaton driving school!

  • How many takes did this scene take!

  • This is one of my favorite episodes!

  • I loved Mallory in this! That scream was just too funny! "Drop me off at the mall!"

  • I think the reason Steve wanted to do a simulated driving lesson was because he didn't want a repeat of what happened with Mallory (as seen in the 2nd season episode "Lady Sings the Blues").

  • Which episode is this ?

  • @Gissedk

The episode is called "My Best Friend's Girl" in Season 7.

  • Just downloaded the whole first season watching it right now god I miss great shows like this one!

  • this was the best episode

  • Why is Steven wearing the driver's outfit if he's in the passenger seat? And he forgot to tell Jennifer to adjust her mirrors and turn her lights on.

  • @Grapes428 don't be so strict on him. :)

  • This is one of the best parts in family ties. ROFL :D

  • Yeah, Jennifer had the big 80's hair-thing going on. That was the hit thing to do back then. Some people still do now days. I agree with you, This show should still be on TV now!! Take the junk reality crap that's on TV now away & bring back Great TV shows like this again! Fantasy & Family shows of the 80's to replace the crap that's on now! Back then you had, a show about a talking Trans Am, a show about an orange car with an 01 on it, a show about a super chopper/Airwolf, Family Ties, Alf, ..

  • 2:00 classic :o

  • OMG, One of the funniest moments on tv! I remember the first tim ethis aired. My mom and I cracked up!!!

  • they should still be on the air

  • I choked on my soup when he yells "STOP!" out of the blue.

  • What episode is this?

  • oh no the drawbridge is up!!!!!!!!!!!.....ahhhhhhhhhhh.....rotflao

  • it brings me back to drake & josh whee they learn how to drive

  • Yeah. But, this is more hilarious.

  • I thought it was the driver who was supposed to be wearing the cap, scarf, and gloves.

  • i loved this scene :)

  • LOL They really simulated everything. And this is all in one take!!! hahaha

  • I remember this!

  • Did this happen before or after Steven's heart attack?

I ask because I thought he was close to having one there.

  • I laughed so hard at this I snorted milk up my nose...was expecting it to be cute - it was hysterical!!

  • LOL Justine is cracking herself up after her mall line...

  • i wish i could see the gag reel to this........

  • Why isn't my family like this?!

  • What episode & season was this from?

  • love it, was laughing out loud!!

  • what is this epsoide called

  • Love Mallorys reaction!! LOL

  • This Show Wouldn't Be As Funny Without The Father .....Edward Gross He Had The Comedic Lines,

    Micheal J. Fox Was 2nd

  • never mind i looked up family ties episodes and i found it

  • Ha, ha! This is worse than Hyacinth Bucket (''Bouquet'') back seat-driving her husband. Hilarious - 5 STARS :D

    (Keeping Up Appearances - BBC)

  • brings back wonderful memories...

  • lmao wicked!!

I had to do something like this in my drama class a few years back except we were in a canoe, on the rapids about to go down a waterfall.. it was hilariously fun :D

  • that was the best driving lesson ever

  • Jennifer's hair is so 80s! LOL

  • that's because the show is from the 80's

  • Maybe I should clarify: Jennifer's hairdo epitomizes the 80s :D

I watched this in the 80s but thanks for pointing that out anyway...

  • @Boobookitty39, my hair is black and, is like that.

  • @Boobookitty39 yeah well this was filmed in the 80s lol

  • Oh man this sitcom is Terrific!!

I love Family Ties, and this scene is one of my favourites!

    Thanks!

  • To me,the best episode ever! Thanks!

  • In the context of the show, this was kind of stupid since Steven wasn't supposed to be an idiot. But if you look at it as a comedy routine, it's actually pretty funny.

  • funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of my favorite Steven moments!

  • This is amazing, just last week I was telling my BF about this episode and today my brother sends me a link XD

    Thanks

  • OMG that was great!!

  • Man... this show has the best humor. I just bought a T-shirt from SnorgTees that says:

    "Alex P. Keaton for President"

  • That's great!

  • from where did you uploaded this episode? thanks!

  • Does anyone have the clips from when Steven had a heart attack?

  • @stephb03 search for the episode called heartstrings.... I just saw it !

  • OMG I have been looking for this one for awhile. Thanks for posting it. Too funny!

  • Cheese factor turned out to be a GREAT hilarious scene! Tina Yothers rules! I also like Meredith Baxter tho....I was applauding with the rest of the crowd lol.

  • I laughed so hard

  • Judy this was truly funny. I remember watching this episode and laughing just as hard. I loved that show. Even though I am a Democrat.

    \"/ Robs

  • Glad you liked it. I love it when Mallory says "Jennifer!! If you're not going to be careful drop me off at the mall."

  • I figured they'd have Alex in the back seat making wisecracks the whole time. lol But this is hilarious

  • Justine Bateman is cracking up the entire time. I would be too. What a funny group of people.

  • Lol. Coordinated car-mimery.

  • 1989

  • hahahaha hilarious xD

  • Michael J Fox was the star of this show.

  • Finally Tina Yothers hair is good!! The big fringe they made her have was revolting!!

"Finally Tina Yothers hair is good!! The big fringe they made her have was revolting!!"

I think she looks cute! I used to love her back then, too!

  • Yeh shes awesome no matter what they put her in!

  • loved this clip! very funny thank u for posting it

  • Hahaha! Awesome! I love this scene. :)

  • hey is this a copy of the fresh prince of bel air or is that a copy of this? hmmm

  • one of the funniest moments in Family Ties. LOL thanks for posting!!

  • Great scene! With lesser actors, this could have been ridiculous but these guys made it believable. I think Bateman might really be laughing.

  • Each person is so funny! U r right- Alex would have made the perfect cop! Oh, and i think the dad also played Carter's dad in ER. He was my favorite character in tremors.

  • LOL...This scene is absolutely hilarious! Even Justine was trying to hard not to laugh throughout most of it. Thanks so much for posting! :-)

  • jennifer is very hot with that hair and...:D

  • Great scene. Thanks for sharing this video.

  • i actually toke this idea and did an improv sketch in high school. a driving instructor and 3 students have an errand to run and each driver has a different characteristic when they drive. the turning actions made the scene. great clip!

  • That was really fun =)

  • that was hilarious! too bad alex wasn't around to see it because he would have played the perfect cop to try and stop jennifer.

  • It just goes to show you that Michael Gross is a terribly under-rated comedic actor. Where is he today?

  • After Tremors, haven't seen him much. May be he returned to theatre? BTW He used to shop in Pasadena about 10 years ago.

  • OMG that was hilarious!

  • i love when mrs. keaton rolls down her window!!

  • watch out the draw bridge is up lol whata crack up

  • This is one of my all-time favorite scenes from this show. It's just classic from beginning to end. I love that Steven forgot to take off his imaginary seatbelt off and couldn;t get out of the seat. Then the door slam, Elise rolling down her window to talk to him, all of it just combining for one of the best scenes ever. Thanks for sharing this clip :)

  • too funny for words. i love when steven 'slams' the door and everyone jumps.

  • I especially enjoy Mallorie trying not to laugh right before she screams at almost hitting the bicycle. LOL Excellent clip!

  • Ah, this is a fantastic scene. Makes me laugh every time.

  • Hilarious! I watched it 5 times.

  • Lovely, thank you for posting :) Please post more!

  • Great clip! I wish Alex was in it more, though.

  • look kimberly she its laughing a lot

  • Do you mean Justine Bateman? She was Mallory.

  • This is one of the funny moments that Family Ties had without Michael J. Fox up front. Michael Gross was an underutilized actor. Great sitcom actor.

  • Ha! Awesome

  • Very funny clip! Thanks for posting it!

  • That is so funny!

  • lovee ittt=]

  • love it!

  • Thanks for posting this clip up! One of the all time great shows,no doubt about it. Been years since Ive seen it. Any full episodes you got? If so,lets see them!!
