  • total nutter

  • all those photos at the beginning remind me of facebook...

  • we piss on the coons in the jungle.

  • When I first heard it on the radio, I thought it was "She's so popular." Once someone told me the true lyrics, it was pretty obvious.

  • Am I the only one who KNEW Kate was singing "Jeux sans frontieres" on first listen?

  • @GettingEmOutByFriday it says so on the album credits, people

  • Hey, I was wondering: The video had the children all dressed up. This one was edited. What happened?

  • at 2:40 crazy shit starts happening

  • She's so from PA .

  • I thought it was She's so fucking a ...........

  • When I saw this on MTV back in the 80's I thought it was a mock on world war conflicts. Each child's name represented a country in the war. Hans = Germany, Suki = Japan

  • I like how PG has that weirdness going on here that he had in Genesis.

  • I love this song. Being small at the time I had no idea it was by the great Peter Gabriel. Imagin my surprise. I use to think they said, "she's so pop-u-lar." Looking at the lyrics as I watch this today, I truely believe this to be a great and important song on so many levels. Peter really has a great mind and a lot of guts to be so bold with his creativity.

  • living in the 1980's

  • shes so fruity yeah

  • shes a fuck machine yeah

  • happy willi

  • 'kissing baboons and pissing balloons in the jungle"

  • audio is great on this video...

  • This is one of my favorite songs by Peter Gabriel. "Games Without Frontiers" is a very meaningful song regarding human relationships.

  • adolf builds a bonfire of jews?

  • someone needs to sample and create a song around "Jeux Sans Frontieres"

  • @nissanlover I actually tried it in a dj mix with Method Man and Terranova; it... kinda... worked...? :P

  • @nissanlover its been done. this is that song. Jeux Sans Frontières (English: Games Without Frontiers or Games Without Borders)

  • It's amazing to me how for granted I took this when it first appeared, and now realize sadly what a pinnacle of creativity this represented.

  • FUCKING EPIC!

  • pissing on coons.

  • It was sooo good to grow up to this music. I'd be in trouble these days, the music just ain't the same at all. This sounds so much better and different and creative then the stuff out now.

  • @bigdsears What about Lady Ga Ga??? ;)

  • @crazycrow76 Gaga's last album was very creative but this new album is sorta weak... I mean, she says I'm livin' on the edge' about 295 time in that first release

  • @bigdsears Millions and millions of dollars and she says she's living on the fucking edge (Ga Ga) ????

  • Not even 200k views?? WTF is wrong with the world today?? One of the best songs of the 80's and the audio is crytsla clear! Thanks for posting

  • @Purple1984Rain The audio is actually pitched higher and the treble is adjusted from the original version. For whatever its worth, the actual music video for this amassed around 5 million views apiece on WMG and Vevo, though I don't know what happened to it.

  • Does anybody know What year was this song released?

  • @Femmespied

    1980

  • This isn't right, who changed the music video? What about the kids dressed as grown-ups at a dining party? What about Peter crawling with the Cupee Dolls? This sucks why is this music video so hard to find?

  • @PhoenixHealing That's what I'm trying to find out!

  • i used to think it was "she's... so funky now" haha!

  • this song is so personally moving..i never realized whats really going on in the world and listening to this for so long helped me bring it forward. this song makes me want to weep, weep for humanity and how were so dangerously lost. think of all the wars we have been in..as an american-i have never given it a second though. have you ever cried or been sad because people are dying in wars that they dont even want? i doubt you have. war is just a part of the news, just another topic-its nothing.

  • one of the best songs yet made

  • Zynga needs to make a game of this. Someone tell them to do that.

  • Genius.

  • I believe it's "Adolf builds a bonfire", not "builts a bonfire."

    also missing a couple lines

"If looks could kill, they probably will" comes up again before the second "Games without frontiers-war without tears."

"Jeux San Frontieres" sounds nothing like "She's so popular". I've seen it posted as official lyrics, but I don't think that's for this version.

  • @MsShawnPhx haha.. "she's so popular" that wouldnt even have anything to do with the song..

  • @SlumberCloud Actually, one could easily interpret the non existent line, "she's so popular" as fitting with the song. Being that war or conflict is raging somewhere on the planet at any given time, as it was when the song was written, war does indeed appear to be very popular. I was one of those who misheard the line, but I only heard the song 30 years ago on radio without benefit of a lyric sheet or any of the online lyric sites available today.

  • Kate Bush sings the "Jeux sans frontieres" part. i think this a demo version.

  • i always thought it said SHES SO POPULAR... waay off

    epic amazing song!!! love it!

  • @tooieterdpounder123 To me, it sounded like it said "SHES SO CLOSE ENOUGH".

  • after 3:50 i stoped dancing :(

  • This is different than the album version. The vocals are much clearer.

  • 1:06 Organization XIII! run!!!!

  • Jeux sans frontiere, Games without Frontiers in French, I always understood it as that. Superb song. Just superb.

  • Anyone else originally think that PG was singing "She's so popular" when he was singing the lyric "Jeux sans frontieres"?

  • @FisheeC3 I thought it was "She's so funky, yeah."

  • @FisheeC3 I thought it was "She's so funky, yeah."

  • @sollig Me too!

  • @FisheeC3 Something close to that, actually.

  • It's actually Kate Bush who's singing "jeux sans frontieres"

  • @FisheeC3 i had written down "shes so popular" when i was writing down the lyrics at work.. so yes.

the radio version sounds of course, a little different.

  • @FisheeC3 or she's so funky yea.

  • @FisheeC3 Actually, I thought he was saying "she's so funky, yeah".

  • @FisheeC3 I thought Kate Bush sang that part?

  • @panzercat39 I'd chew Kate 's Bush .

  • @vylkyl Ok then.

  • @FisheeC3

I always thought it was "She's So Funky, Yeah!"

Well, You learn something new every day. But Duh, I should have known.

  • @FisheeC3 No. It sounds nothing like that.

  • "adolf builds a bonfire"

    hhmmmmm

  • Absolutely AMazing... I love this song... And you are right Adam1983... I want more music like this...

  • this is a different version than i am used to,...I really like it....excellent quality....awesome tune...thanx for posting...

  • Damn it, i think my roommate slipped Morphine into my Coffee again.

  • classic

  • bien... oui... certainly the last century in 3 minutes... likely not intended by Gabriel... but the last century certainly... duck and cover... I can still remember the "air raid sirens" in my town being tested when I grew up in the early 70's.... jeux sans frontier... we have forgotten the late 70's early 80's green/no-nukes times... I hate to say it... but it was Reagan that put a stop to it momentarily.. after Able Archer '83... I hate Republicans.... but he made sure the iron curtain fell

  • @piper131313 Not a Republican fan myself either. I will give Reagan credit for bringing down the Iron Curtain, but with an asterix. He did it by out spending what the Soviet economy could handle and massively increased our national debt in the process.

  • Notice that this is an alternate version, if you compare the song here to the version released on "Peter Gabriel" from 1980 (AKA Melt) they're different

  • I wonder if some of the old footage is from the movie "Triumph of the Will"?

  • Wow... it's the entire 20th century in under 4 minutes.

  • @Jakomancer Wow..... seriously.... maybe you didn't listen good enough to the message behind the song...

  • @newtoupstate 1) It's not generally regarded as correct to use "good" as an adverb 2) There is no message to listen to behind the song. Perhaps in the song, of the song, conveyed by the song, but definitely not behind it, that would be backmasking or some shit. 3) If you actually think this song has a valuable semantic, you are high as fuck and need to reconsider everything.

  • amazing song and video, just dont make them like this anymore..shame, thanks for this

  • First time I have heard this version...interesting...go Fairlight

  • @Smythcycle CMI Fairlight FTW!! YES!!

  • @AdamG1983 Ever listen to "The Dreaming" by Kate Bush? A lot of Gabriel/Gilmour influences on it...and a bunch of CMI Fairlight. Still her best collection.

    Peace

  • my god, the sound is amazing where did you get this video from and how did you record it

  • Obviously the more talented member of Genesis

  • no-one named Adolf now, not even the coloreds

  • @iluvflagunlaws Coloreds? My gosh man are you back in the 1960"s... I dont use the term african american but coloreds... really? I just simply say black if a description is needed...

  • i like this song but not this version... ive heard 2 versions (both by peter gabriel) and i like the other one better

  • Why, oh why, can't they make fucking epic amazing music like this anymore?!?

  • @AdamG1983 lol damned good question but i guess the music world mirrors the times.

  • @AdamG1983 Because it doesn't make big name record labels tons of money. Commercial music is just that, mindless entertainment made for immediate and wide-spread appeal. After all, the average American is just that: average.

  • @dirtboyfsr Speaking as an American, I completely agree. Most people I talk to don't understand with my fascination for 1970s-1980s alternative, art-rock, prog-rock, punk, post-punk, synthpop, electro, new wave, new romantic, college rock, indie rock, alternative dance, alternative pop, alternative rock, especially those from the U.K., Germany, & France.

    I pity them all.

  • @AdamG1983 you just have to open your ears and mind. great music is out there, but like your parents when you were young, your mind is set on the past as being better then today.

  • @AdamG1983 becuase the music company wont make any money lol

  • @AdamG1983 An excellent question.

  • @AdamG1983 Because the people in charge don't believe there's any money in art and soul.

  • @AdamG1983 Why, oh why, cant you just look for it?.... cauz it is there if you try

  • @AdamG1983...Not quite on the same epic scale as Gabriel, but check out the song "Crash Years" by The New Pornographers. Similar whistle part AND video.

  • @AdamG1983 because the theme of the last generation or two was "Everyone's a winner!". The government says we need to tolerate people like J.B. and R.B. (i wont defile these comments with thier names), and this stops people like this from succeeding. It also means that the 'special needs' automatically get 98% while the geniuses need to work for an 80%.

  • great song

  • fantastic song of 80's

  • Flashback of the Kingwood Boatdock circa 1980-1981

  • AMAZING AS ALWAYS- GREAT BEAT, INTERESTING VOCALS- the guy is a genius!!

    Sharon Katner

  • THIS IS NOT ONLY MUSICAL GENIUS BUT HIS VIDEOS PIONEERED THE WAY WE CREATE ANIMATION TODAY. HE IS FROM A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO ALSO INVENTED THE MOVING LIGHTS YOU SEE AT VIRTUALY EVERY CONCERT IN THE WORLD. PAY ATTENTION.

  • good song, good video

  • Comment removed

  • @mintscope It translates to"games without frontiers" almost word for word friend-o

    Reference: I'm a recovering Quebecer.

  • @mintscope

    Game without frontiers

  • @mintscope "jeux sans frontiers" - the name of the song: Games Without Frontiers

  • Is that Kate Bush on the chorus. Never knew that!

  • @chuckestarr Good ear, hadn't listened to the song close enough before now but yes, I'd say that's her voice. PG and KB have done a lot of work together so it's highly likely.

  • I like this song, but I never understood what it was about. Can anyone explain it?

  • Fabulous song . . . !

  • I smoked some banana peels before watching this and it makes perfect sense

  • I grew up listening to this as well as many other classic Peter Gabriel tunes, so naturally I freaked out upon seeing that Peter is holding a remix competition for this song. I'm in 5th place! If anybody reading this gets a chance, I would really appreciate a comment or vote for my mix on my channel!

  • "Whisting tunes we piss on the coons in the jungle!" (uncencored version). Haha, my friends this is by no means a song about innocent child's play....

  • @106766298 It's goons, dummy.

  • danielle likes the song its a kool song

  • this was my favorite song in 7th grade

  • @StaticisStranded2 - It's the Dolby 5.1 version from Peter Gabriel's "Play: The Videos" DVD, downmixed to 2.0. I've just played the 5.1 version from the DVD through two speakers only and it sounds identical to this one.

  • @Teppic24 : Brilliant! Thankyou for clearing this up. Somehow I don't have Play in my collection - will obviously have to remedy that!

  • what a fucked up song i never realised this was by peter gabriel =/

  • @goosetits

What praytell is "fucked up" about it? It's highlighting that racism doesn't exist between children, and that simple games bring these children from different cultres etc together, it's actually rather beautiful!

  • @nekogod i prefer sledgehammer

  • @nekogod Actually its about the childishness of war perhaps best summed up by the line Adolph (Hitler) builds a bonfire, Enrico (Fermi) plays with it. It is a great song though

  • @3:00WHAT THE HELL?????????

  • great song bu

  • yeah your probaly right i anna seen em for twenty years now hu

  • lol this is a crazyass video

  • I believe this is a demo of the song. Sounds just as cool as the final cut.

  • Jeux sans frontieres Jeux sans frontieres Jeux sans frontieres Jeux sans frontieres Hans plays with Lotte Lotte plays with Jane Jane plays with Willi Willi is happy again Suki plays with Leo Sacha plays with Britt Adolf builts a bonfire Enrico plays with it
  • its a masterpiece

i saw this video 8 years ago on vh1

  • oh its 'jeux san frontieres'? XDD I have a dirty mind- I thought it said 'sh*t so f*** the air' LMAO so sorry innocent minded people

  • @KyoukenOkami i thought the same the sentence with the f...

  • Ever since I was in 7th grade this has been one of my favorite songs!

  • I hate the French transliteration of this tune which repeats at various points (the part sung by Kate Bush).

  • late nite flashbacks

  • A powerfull anti-war song

  • @Prunesqualer

why cant people just realize that war is not a game!

    its a lose lose situation!

and what does it prove? NOTHING!!!!

  • @mrquackadoodlemoo They have proven its an easy way to make money. They sell .25 washers to the government for $20.00 a piece because they dont need the paperwork looked over in a time of war.Besides it keeps the "upper crust",(10% of the world), in resources by killing everyone else off.Look up Eugenics, population control. We will be out of all natural resources and Social Security by 2035.Im glad I will be dead by then.

  • @L1ngP0e

you raise a valid pont but i highly doubt the natural resources will be all gone.

but yea i agree that the social security MIGHT be all gone.

wait a minute when was this song made? maybe ol peter's talking about the korean war?

  • ahhhhh sometimes its a good thing going back to the past.....trippy memories....all good :-))

  • This is probably my favourite version+Video of Games Without Frontiers. Thank You PG!

  • Such a mellow tune, I ride to this everytime I'm out on the bmx.

  • Delightfully creepy

  • this song is weird...but I love it...the first time I heared was in a mall...

  • reminds me when i went to secondry school no one spoke to four four years then when i left school they still didnt life eh

  • @STONESBOY74 most of the friends ive had never really were friends.. so maybe you just got lucky and didnt make friends with those people because they were jerks.

theres a reason for everything.. but nothing is certain, there is always choice to change things

  • "Jane plays with willy....Willy is happy again..."

  • Awesome!

  • perfect

  • this is just another Peter song which is amazing. Hopefully he gets into the rock and roll hame of fame as an individual.

  • peter is soo hot kisses 4 him!!!

  • war is childish if u think about it.

  • Dang why does everyone post the new version of this video. It's not the crazy tear your face off thing that it should be.

  • i love this song , i saw the video nearly 7 years ago on vh1

    its a great song

  • My last comment should have read "British game show" The original line was "we piss on baboons in the jungle"

  • This song is actually about the British TV shoe "Its a knockout" Sorry to burst everyones bubble

  • Nice but I miss the *original* video with the kids playing dress up and acting like grownups.

  • In my opinion a stunningly good anti-war/anti-tribalism song.

  • I try to go by what the lyrics on the albums say.

  • As you see from my name I love Black Music but I also like Peter Gabriel and even I will say that it is in fact 'whistling tunes, we piss on the COONS in the jungle' Are you going to say I'm racist?

  • Interesting how until now it always sounded like he was saying "She's...so popular," but only now I hear that he's saying "Jeux sans frontier." Also, I've just noticed that there is another version of this video, which is also on YouTube (labeled "The official video," 1983). It doesn't have the little people walking around or the toy cars, etc. and instead shows more of Peter Gabriel and has children sitting at a dinner party; it doesn't make a political statement as much as this version does

  • lol I always thought it was

    SHE'S SO FUN TO LAY!!

    GO FIGURE ;-[]

  • @tcdarden13 lol yea i know how you fell cant remember it but there was a song i listed to for YEARS! and never understood it until my friend told me what it was :)

  • That's not actually him singing "Jeux sans frontiers" it's Kate Bush I believe. As for the other video you refer to, that would be the actual video. I'm not 100% sure what this is, some sort of remix and video mix, or possibly a very rare demo for the video

  • @TeeStall Yes, it is Kate Bush singing "Jeux sans frontiers". She also sang backing vocals on "No Self Control" from the same album.

  • Soldiers called the enemy in the Vietnam War GOOKS not GOONS

  • For God's sake the word was GOONS I have the original vinyl and the lyrics were in it. GOONS was what some soldiers called the enemy in the Vietnam Conflict

  • A fine piece of work Pete & friends.

    Thank you.

  • and it isnt piss on the 'goons' its coons....fucking know it all liberalistadores,,,,

  • It's goons you fucking racist moron! Look up the lyrics. You can even listen and tell he's saying goons.

  • Suck my balls. I have every right to be who i am as you have to be you.....the original lyric was coons...not MY lyric you fucknut but Gabriels, it was ironic by context.

Fuck off and burn your bra at some two bob anti something or other rally you fucking dunce.

  • Oh and as soon as someone has a different belief system from you they are 'racist' or 'homophobic' or age-ist' or 'xenophobic' or some other jumped up politicised vote catching clusterfuck spin. I am none of the above as i dont give a cunt.

  • Comment removed

  • its coons the original lyric until the wacko liberals made a stink... typical... i guess its ok to kiss baboons huh ... but not piss on a coon ... go kiss your tree and kill some fetuses atypical liberal ..

  • sad but what some people will do to maintain political correctness... altering lyrics as though they are the definitive interpreters of meaning! I believe Chromalusion about the origin of the Lyric

I think it was orginally 'COONS'

and that needn't be a racial slur, as coon is also a slang term for raccoons
