  • Which song from the soundtrack is playing here...?

  • This breaks my heart.. I can't imagine this ever happening to my Tatjana.

  • I'm not crying... it's just.. well... ahem..

    Damn this shit is sad...

  • Is this the most ideal ending to the story line or is it the Maria one?

  • @TheHotFalafel There was one that was kind of like this except worded less, idk, bluntly, then he carries her away. I think that one is a little better, but it's your opinion whether you like that one or this one or the Maria one. Personally I like the Maria one because he has someone at the end, though he ends on a bad note with the "other Mary" or whomever it was that he fought.

  • @TheHotFalafel The ending that was most likely cannon was the "in water" ending. Where James commits suicide by driving his car in to the water because he can't live without Mary.

Thats only because of the references in SH3 and SH4. For example: In SH3 when doug and heather are driving to Silent hill. Doug says that he did an investigation on a couple that went there and never returned.

  • @lordbrioan That theory can also be applied to the Rebirth ending or even the UFO ending but more or less the Rebirth or In Water ending seem to connect to the SH happenings.

  • @TheHotFalafel lol if the UFO ending was the cannon one, that would be awesome >_>

  • a great ending ruined by shit voice acting

  • @dossantosftw by whom? both james and mary had awesome voice actors. it is said that the voice of mary, the actress, cried after reading that letter..

  • @Da1337Man Are you maria????....go back to that scene and actually tell me thats good voic acting....overall what im saying is not so much that the voice acting is bad, which it is, but the way the game was overall written is bad. And ok? The letter itself was very touching but that doesnt mean the voice acting was good just because some japanese lady cried over it

  • @dossantosftw so i guess your version of good horror is resident evil and dead space where the monsters go RAWRRRR and find that scary. that is a sign of having no depth. gg

  • @Da1337Man So i guess your version of good horror is having characters with such bad voice acting that it almost makes you laugh?

  • @dossantosftw nah, just horror that has a plot to it, where you have to think. but it seems you are incapable of that, so good day too you dumbass.

  • @Da1337Man hahaha your attempting to defend yourself by trying to say things that i never said? Silent hill is an amazing game with a great plot. I never said otherwise. Like i said, the VOICE ACTING ,not the game or plot, is bad. Are you gonna say that im bitching about the graphics next comment?

  • @dossantosftw You just said the way that the game was overall written was bad...

  • @YorkJonhson it is...

  • @dossantosftw Then you blow up at people for saying you were talking negatively about the plot? Speak objectively.

  • @YorkJonhson just because the writing wasn't that good doesn't mean that im saying the plot is as well. If it was made now by an american company it would probably be much better

  • @dossantosftw Mate, the writing Is the plot. I assume you're specifically talking about the dialogue, or the voice acting. Course in my opinion this scene did well with both.

  • @dossantosftw why are you on SH2 vids anyway if you hate the game? dont watch it if you dont like it, dumbfuck.

  • @Da1337Man hahahahhahaha wow dude this is great. Once again you criticize me of saying something i said the EXACT opposite of. I fucking love silent hill. I was a fan since the first ps1 sh to downpour for 360. Seriously dude if your gonna try to fire back at me at least use something i ACTUALLY SAID in your defense

  • "You made me happy."

No other line in any other game has hit me that hard. When I first got this ending I just stared at my screen and let it linger.

  • That was the end I got... it drove me to tears...

  • liek tis if u cryde errytym xx<3

  • "James..."

    "You made me happy"

    *tears*

  • Best ...... game....ending....eva....

  • BRB SOBBING FOREVER.

  • this should have been the real ending.

  • @Biducinho I think it's ambiguous enough to let you decide the real ending.

  • This is giving me a reason 2 play Silent Hill 2, or at least wait 4 the HD release and Downpour

  • @aus741LX Downpour has a 98.9% chance of not living up to Silent Hill 2, but yes play it and enjoy the trip. The HD I do recommend, but there is nothing like experience an older copy on the Ps2 for the first time.

  • ummmm what is mary sorry about did she fuck a male nurse lol or was she just mean to him

  • @rtti88 She explains it in the letter. She's sorry for the burden she put on James and for when she was mean to him.

  • Cried heterosexual tears listening to the letter

    "You made me happy"

    "I'll always love you"

    COME OOOOOOOOOOOOOON

  • keep pressing 7 and you get a rapping CREEPER (minecraft refence0

  • I've seen people saying the in water ending is the best but I cant help but like this one more... probably because this is the one I got. ^_^

  • @MrPJD18

The in water ending is shit. Instead of moving on with his life James takes the cowards way out comitting suicide.

  • @Irockmarkdowns yup, I guess the reason people say the in water ending is the best is because its different and unexpected... I'm the kind of person who prefers happy endings though, ^_^ even if its more bittersweet than straight up happy. this ending was touching to me, yknow. if he went through all that just to kill himself in the end, it all seems kind of pointless.

  • @MrPJD18 Yeah. I love dark story-lines, but Leave will always be my canon end. Guess I'm a pansy when it comes to Silent Hill's good endings.. lol

  • @YorkJonhson

This is just the best ending...suicide makes his journey all mean nothing.

  • @Irockmarkdowns And it resolves Laura's story. Can't say it's a completely happy ending, but beautiful in a way.

  • @Irockmarkdowns Yeah, and I dislike how 3 and 4 suggest In Water was the proper one. But even if it was their idea for that to be the right one (Leave being the literal "Best" ending), they made the references subtle enough that it wasn't for sure. Team Silent knew what they were doing.

  • Just got this ending. Took me 7 hours and 56 minutes to complete this game. One of the greatest game series.

  • @Mitko54682DS 8 hours? It took me a little more than 4. Finished it today. For the first time.

  • @dfactorxx Im not experienced in these genre's anyway. Although i do play games similar to Mystery case files return to ravenhearst because they seem to be a bit easier. But still, the longer the time the better the gameplay experience i think.

  • @Mitko54682DS As long as you enjoy it. Exploration is nice too (unless you can't figure out a puzzle).

  • @dfactorxx I do enjoy exploring throughout the game. I used alot of walkthroughs because of the puzzles. 8 hours is pretty long and even the amnesia the dark descend game took me that long to complete.

  • press 7 to hear her say goodbye

  • I just beated n drunk ;D badass ending one of the best silent hill games ....!" n yes i was drunk playin it....! ;D

  • So sad beautiful. This ending does so much to me I'm confused!

  • Anyone ever notice that ou never see Harry and Mary in the same place? THEY'RE THE SAME PERSON!

  • @agravatedgorilla

That's pretty heavy stuff man. Not only are they not in the same place, they're not even in the same game!!!! SYMBOLISM!!!!!11

    =p

  • @sapnyosentry we're so awesome!

  • 0:05

  • can someone tell me the song name that plays?

  • Comment removed

  • @thesabbathofevil Silent Hill 2 OST - Making Peace...

  • Mary?

    James......

    Forgive me.....

I told you I wanted those 5 dislikers to die James. I wanted their pain to end.

That's why I did it honey....I just couldn't watch them suffer....

  • I've never played this game before...and this made me tear up.

  • For a ten year old game, this one is still getting much attention. Yeah, I like to come back and watch this ending now and then. Such an awesome game.

  • The best ending of the game, it so moving and in the same time full of hope. Everyone hates Laura but she is the one who helped James the most

  • The ending monologue...best voice acting I've ever heard. Period. No matter what you think of the rest of the voice performances in the game, you know damn well that it all becomes obsolete when you hear this. It simply makes SH2 that much greater than it already is....A true masterpiece.

  • Oh! The same letter is in the "In Water" ending too! This letter worked so well in the water ending. I just teared up like a girl. Whenever I can't cry I go to the "In Water" ending.

Seriously go watch "In Water" ending if you want a good tearing up. He commits suicide (apperantly it's not a secret or spoiler now) and after the whole letter was read out, after a looong pause then the last part "James, you made me happy." showed up. It worked SO well. I cried like a mama's boy.

    Ahh shit. Sob.

  • @spiritfired

Yeah, my eyes watered but no way near as much as the MGS4 ending.

I cried like a little girl being stung by a bee

  • "If that were true.. then why do look so sad?"

That line really got me... Made me feel James truly did care for his wife.

I admittedly teared up playing this game. James, Angela, even Eddie, I thought they were all sympathetic.

  • Between the video, this ending and the letter, I can never hold it in. I always lose it. Silent Hill is the only series that can make me cry whenever I play it. Just about every game in the series has something that will do it.

  • This letter will always made me cry

  • this makes me cry SO BAD DAMN IT

  • The way I understand it is that Mary was hospitalized three years ago, which is why James thinks she's been dead for three years. When she visits home for her last visit, James kills her. Tramatized, James finds his way back to Silent Hill with the letter as a ruse (it vanishes over the course of the game) and blocks out the truth that he murdered his wife.

  • This was the first ending i got and it made me soooo sad, I had to cry out loud.

I pitied James for he excepted his selfish motives and deeply regrets his errors.

When I later got the Maria ending, I totally hated James! Why was he such an Ass in that ending!?

Thank god I will always remeber him as the tragic hero, and not the selfis bastard who doesnt care about him killing his wife at all!

  • I just got this ending right now

  • Wait, is Laura real? Mary died 3 years ago and that was probably when Laura turned 8, but she still thinks she's 8. Or maybe she's just another part of James. I'm confused. Great ending though. In the end, Mary did forgive James for what he did.

  • @Rhapthorne3 Mary actually died a week ago..

  • @na72x really? I'm so confused, but SH2 is still on my top 10

  • @Rhapthorne3 About the reality of Laura's existence, well... MAYBE she's not real

  • I don't think Laura would be too pleased to be adopted by James after hearing what he told her in the Hotel...

  • It's sad how Maria is fucked up no matter the ending.

  • @ChuckPalomo Well she dies like 4 times, so yeah. She's fucked. Just a bit

  • @ChuckPalomo more so than anyone else. It only gets worse if you consider that she has all of Mary's memories and feelings. She cared about James even though he "killed" her and was desperate to earn his affection but she always was just a fake and she knew it. There could be no happy ending for her from the very beginning, even though she did not do anything wrong. That's pretty f***ed up.

  • @Noctis149 Exactly what I meant. But it fits the game well anyway.

  • I got this ending too :]

  • Just finished the game, I'm so happy i got this ending. :)

  • I... just love this ending. Apparently, psychological horror games are better than your traditional 'Kill all enemies until you're rescued' horror games

  • This is a good ending

Not as good as mgs4's, but it is good. Also nobody cares about your fucking "sub zero" songs bro.

  • dont get me wrong i am normally a pessimist but i think this is the true ending because for some one like James i dont want to see a sad ending for i want some one like him to have a happy ending.

  • The most beautiful thing about this ending, is that he leaves with Laura, ostensibly to adopt her, as his wife wished. And after her begging for him to live for himself when she dies, he still does what he knows will make her happy, and he takes Laura in.

James, you are a real man.

  • @CainG88 I know it's so interesting comparing how great this ending is with how heart wrenching and ultimately disturbing the Maria ending is- here James get's the opportunity the move on and takes it, allowing him a life of happiness and freedom from guilt. In the Maria ending, James is doomed to watch Maria die from the same illness as Mary, kill her and end up in Silent Hill again. Really makes me want to get his ending instead :P

  • @CainG88 yes, not only that:

Mary died from AIDS because she betrayed James, that is why she says about "horrible things" in the letter :(

  • Stay by me Emma, sans toi plus rien n'a de sens

  • that's clearly the most fitting end

  • The final line hits me so hard everytime. Brilliant game.

  • Just finished Silent hill 2! First thing I'm going to do is order silent hill 3 straight away!!!

Also Great ending, I love horror games/movies

  • whenever I watch this ending I start bawling like a baby. One of the few games with such a strong passion and emotion in the story.

  • I don't get it, where's Laura? It says he leaves with her but I don't see how. Please help. ;A;

  • @MoonWitchRuuRuu If you remember the beginning of the game, James encounters a graveyard, in which he also meets Angela. Well from this ending you can clearly see that this is the same graveyard, and he is seen leaving silent hill with Laura. Also it is believed that this represents James fulfilling Mary's wish [to leave] and adopting Laura.

  • @SoulCollector12

Ohhhh there we go. I watched it a bajillion times but for some reason I only saw James leave but not Laura. Ga durr, now I got it and feel like a retard. XD

  • I got this ending too.

Cried for a good 5 mins.

Best ending to a video game ever.

  • that was my ending when i played sillent hill2. What great game...

  • that made me wanna cry

  • Her voice acting from 6:10 on is just amazing. I mean it was great before too, but the ending is beautiful.

  • First time I played this game, I wasn't used to Sh hill games, and on the map, it shows a fairground next to the hotel. I thought, ok....so how does the story continue into the fairground? Then I realised this was probably the ending, and I was like....aw man, should have been longer. Then I got pissed, and was like......what about Laura? What about Angela? Played it a few more times and I started to get it. Really good game. One of my top 25 favourites (it's not easy to get in there!)

  • psychadelicsnake got this ending. Pretty cool.

  • I almost burst into tears when Mary finishes reading her letter... My, what a story.

  • What was the point of Laura being at silent hill?

  • @MrFendkg287316 Preety much being the "bridge" between James and the truth, I'd say.

  • @MrFendkg287316 She was looking for Mary too. But she didn't know she was dead. She believed Mary was somewhere in Silent Hill. Mary didn't see the monsters, that's why she could go anywhere without any trouble.

  • @Darthwizard wait then why was she looking for Mary i though James was looking for her o__o''

  • @MrFendkg287316 Both of them are looking for Mary. But Laura doesn't know she's dead. James do know she's dead but he believes she died three years ago.

  • @MrFendkg287316 Both of them are looking for Mary. But Laura doesn't know she's dead. James do know she's dead but he believes she died three years ago.

  • @Darthwizard ya i knoee but why is Laura looking for Mary?

  • @MrFendkg287316 Well because Laura met Mary in the hospital when Mary was sick. They became friends and Mary wanted her as her daughter. There's a letter of Mary saying that she'd love to adopt Laura. But Laura didn't know Mary died, she believed that she went to SH and then Laura went to look for her.

  • @Darthwizard omg thats sad ;\ so was that at 0:34 was that really Mary or what? O....o

  • @MrFendkg287316 Yep. that's Mary. IDK if he can see Mary's soul (?) I don't get it. My theory is that he's watching and talking to Mary the same way he can also see Maria and talk to her, etc. And Mary didn't die three years ago. She was actually at Jame's car trunk.

  • @Darthwizard ok ewww :'o) how did James kills Mary does it say or no?

  • @MrFendkg287316 Yep he strangles her.

  • @Darthwizard holy shit wat about Angelia i don't get her story -_-

  • @MrFendkg287316 Her dad abused and raped har.

  • @Pangyarthur Ohh i see but why was she looking for her brother? O.......o

  • @MrFendkg287316 she was looking for the members of mother and brother in silent hill so she could kill them and then finally be at rest

  • @jacobgr43 why is she trying to kill them? O__O

  • @MrFendkg287316 her father raped her constantly and her mother told her she deserved it so she killed her father and came to silent hill loking for her mom so she can kill her, the grave she was standing near at the start was her brothers suggesting he's already dead. she wannts to kill her family since she see's it as the only way she can finally have peace in her life.

  • @jacobgr43 Ohh i see. Wow Angela's story is the most fucked story in the silent hill series O....o

  • @MrFendkg287316 and she's only 19 years old

  • @jacobgr43 Oh my god. Awwww poor baby. :\ The dog ending. is funny. xD

  • i got this ending and cried a lot

    the story is so good

  • I'm glad I got this ending. It fitted the whole game perfectly. He walks away with Laura (whom Mary wanted to adopt). Great game, yet, hard find.

  • that is the saddest and he most beautiful love-letter i ever heard...

  • hmm i dont see how he could live a normal life after what he just went thro lol

  • Apparently, after reading Mary's letter the actor that did Mary's voice burst into treats.

  • @SaltyLunch She burst into candy!? Hot damn!

  • I wanna find the song that starts at :20 :-(

  • What the fuck, Silent Hill?

It's been more than a year since I played this game and I just wanted to try to remember the feeling of playing it, so I watched this video. Not only did I remember every little detail about the game and how it all made me feel back then, but I was gonna baw my eyes just listening to Mary reading the letter.

For fuck's sake, why are you so perfect?! You're a goddamn videogame!

  • wait, so laura is real?

  • @whoisfettel Laura IS real, she gets a ride from Eddie and comes to SH to look for Mary, even tough she never sees anything James see, such as Maria and the monsters.

  • This and the "in water ending" are the best of the all Silent hill ending

  • The only thing that turns me off about this letter is when she says "I'll say goodbye now" but keeps on going. This game was really good, one of the best storylines in a game I've ever played.

I think I'm going to go play this game again now :)

  • Ohhhh Poor Mary

Silent Hill 2 is the only Silent Hill That has made me Cry

  • @partysoco

It was the first truly great silent hill and the last truly great silent hill. i'm ain't saying the other ones weren't good, just that silent hill 2 set the bar so high that nothing else in the series could hope to compare to it.

man..........listening to this letter just tears me apart everytime i hear it.

  • Happy End! :D

It was really a great game, for me the best silent hill, and a really outstanding game

  • *sob* *sob*

  • i got this ending :D :))

  • James is going to become a alien in the ufo ending just like poor harry

  • Comment removed

  • Whatabitch... Hate James. </3

  • The fact that this is the "happy" ending tells everything about the game.

sad but one of the greatest games of all times

  • What is the name of the song was playing at 0:20

  • my friggen game glitched out and played the audio from the final boos fight here, even through the end credits.

  • Apparently, the actor that did Mary's voice burst to tears after reading Mary's letter.

  • @TehChibiMage

No shit eh ? Can't blame her there.

  • @TehChibiMage I believe that I read it for my speech/drama class and I burst into tears at the end its so sad.

  • @TehChibiMage It may just be amazing voice acting, but the actress who does her voice in the "In Water" ending is really crying through the recording.

    It's incredible.

  • @TehChibiMage

that's the sign of a good actor, when the actor themselves believe what they are saying.

  • @TehChibiMage proof?

  • @TehChibiMage

where did you learn that my good man? I would like to know

  • @wizardbaker Twas' some site that had comments made by the voice actors along with other SH stuff.

Can't remember what it was called at the moment. *searching*

  • @TehChibiMage

Find it my boy! I would love to learn of their opinions!

  • what's the name of the background song?

  • it's different from my version of Leave Ending :/

  • @LordDolor1989

I know WTF...I've seen 2 diff versions of it?!

  • @refuckulate420 because i have the restless dreams edition, and this one is probably from the original version

  • your view of his suicide suggests that James's resolution of doubt involves him believing that he will find happiness in the afterlife. James seems to believe this in the In Water ending, but my argument is that this isn't belief so much as it is blind hope. Nothing in this game should lead him to believe that he's about to find a happy ending in death. At best, he should expect the atheist's peace of nothingness, if he's not much on God.

  • @refuckulate420

because in the ending of water ending, James clearly said he loves Mary, and he cannot live without her, so he seek suicide in order to meet her wife again. In the most final boss fight, James met her wife, it made him knew that there was afterlife. So he chose afterlife in order to live with Mary together.

  • @lovelytrudy

also, at last the ending shows that James got into a room with a wall-mirror, he saw Angela holding a knife. And I remember in the game there was a graveyard showing Angela's name on it, implying Angela had died. Angela lived in another world, a world of dead people. So the final shot of James met Angela means James had died and began his afterlife in silent hill.

  • @lovelytrudy

I think the developers left the endings open to interpretation. It's already obvious James loves mary, or he wouldn't even be in Silent Hill. He went there because the burden of guilt was too much and he wanted to punish himself in a way, and to find some sort of closure. James killing himself is hardly closure, even Mary herself has said in this ending she wants James to move on, and a lot is made clear by her letter as well.

  • @refuckulate420

I agree James and Mary love each other much. They love each other.
