@shaina8catherine either it's a little known extra part to Crossing the Minch, or one that she composed... I've never known anybody to play two reels when doing a March, Strathespy, Reel - and to me it sounds too much like it belongs to the last tune to be a separate tune
Memories of my MacDonald family gatherings flooding my mind as I listen. Lots of booze, lots of laughter and constant fiddle/guitar/spoon and some yelps (Yo! Yehoo!).
definitely cape breton. theres not a certain style in cape breton for fiddling everyone has their own style. just a matter of how you play it. and theres no such thing as a terrible fiddler. all of em sound great!! keep er goin there anna theyre sounding quite good
Anna, remember me??...Sylvia Bonaparte from Cursillo at Camp Geddie...the broken glasses girl....hehe!!! your music is absolutely mind blowing....spread your wings girl....you go, girl....hugs and God bless...hugs & Decolores....Sylvie...
sounds awesome!! And it DOES so sound like the music played on Cape Breton island--and it IS Cape Breton style--HELLO!! Every one has their own way expression--and I LOVE yours:) I am oficially inspired, thanks for sharing:)
Regardless of the fact that she has introduced this performance as "a typical Cape Breton set" I don't know anyone who plays like that on this Island.
Hmm...is this the same girl that did some shows with SQUID? I saw them recently in Miramichi NB..well a few weeks ago at the Culturefest here with Blue Rodeo. I was wondering who she was...i was thinkikng...oh yeah they're really good with their drums PLUS they have a good lookin fiddler...lol No it was a great show! Might not even be the same girl haha anyways...regardless...this is a great set! Keep it up!!
It was indeed! 2007 I drove from Boston (from visiting a friend) to CB for the Jerry Holland school. I hope to be back this summer (funds permitting). Are you related to the Beatons of Mabou?
Love, Love, LOVE the tone of your fiddle! Great playing, Anna! True blue* to the authentic Cape Breton style. ....*Or should I say, Tartan? ; )
