thanks for responding. this sound very usual statement. But are you really sure any kind of development will reduce BD and do harm? I am not convinced about that. sustainable development IS possible. What FAMOUS the little Iland could become just if there is tried a new way: no cars but horses? no roads but path. No hotels but tnts and caves? You could have the very highest prices for that - at almost no cost (despite of a very prof. P.R .)
It is said, some senseless and inadequate infrastructur projets (mainly roads planned regardless of nature) are actually setting Soqrotas untouched natural beauty (most valuable resource of the world of tomorrow!) at risk! - is this true?
I know they have a lot of projects to develop the island into a great tourist location. I spoke to a sheik during the spring of 09 and he was very happy about the developments for his people. From an environmental POV any kind of development will reduce biodiversity on the island. The sheik also said that it wasn't a simple process to get these project approved. I guess there is some strict oversight to reduce the harm to the island's biodiversity.
