hey badmephisto, if someone actually took the time to write down all 43 quintillion algorithms to solve the cube in one algorithm, would you bother learning any of them?
@AdamantRvs81 u should take a good time looking on the cube so when u have a cross u should know where you got your first corner then try solving the cube slow not to slow 1 move per 1-3 sec then work on your speed and train on some pll and oll and advanced cross solving then should you get faster what cube do u have
u have a problem i am fast at puting the pices where they need to go but when i finish the cross i need a loot of time to find (example) the white-green-red peice and the green red peice
@Kingpin3o7 Try to find the most suitable (intuitive) algo to solve every f2l-slot. That's very important, especially at the beginning, hope I could help.
my average is about 50 seconds, so i'm not great, but here's a tip from a beginner-intermediate cuber on f2l:
you can easily learn how to insert pairs by just doing f2l only, premake pairs and just insert them anywhere outside your comfort zone (insert it where it needs to go though)
go to speedcubingcentral. com for really good speedcubing algs, blindfold algs, tutorials, and more. ITS THE FUTURE OF CUBING. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED. IT'S AWESOME!!!!
-1.10 mins-50 secs=learn fridrich method (F2L,4 look last layer)
- 50-30 secs=concentrate on solving f2l pairs 1 at a time, as fast as you can. learn full pll.
-30 secs and under=learn the rest of fridrich. learn to slow down during f2l and focus on your look-ahead. NOW you will profit from it the most. the moment you turn faster than you can track the next pair you're losing time.
@jpm736 yes, hi there. I get 50-1.10 and I know 4 look last layer and Basic F2L. How should I get faster. Should I practice my look ahead so I can move my fingers faster and get a better time?
hi Badmephisto, i've been cubing for 2 years now. i wanted to thank you for all those cubing videos you put on youtube. i have watched all your cubing video multiple times and they've helped me improve a ton. i started off with an average of about 2 minutes and (after LOTS of practice) improved my times to an average of 16.47 seconds! looking at the german top 100 list (avg5, i come from germany), i would be in 63rd place right now =D thanks again for everything, you are my cubing idol =)
i can do f2l in about 15-20 seconds and ive been taking notes on all ur f2l videos and im gonna practice a lot thank u very much, i also use ur full pll website so hopefulluly in a couple months i go from solving the cube in 35 seconds to 20-25 seconds with the help from u, thanks very much and plse keep putting up some videos
Also, be able to do all your algs, tricks, and intuitive things with your left hand, so you can insert into the FL and BL slots. Of course, be able to insert into the BR slot too, but that's kinda a given. You can cut out so so so many cube rotations if you can just solve from any angle.
@RyzonRange yes, because then you can make your mind think about things other than solving the pair. its a good way to make your eyes look at something than your hands.
I realised this today. Everyone should slow the freak down and do slow solves and see if they can do things shorter and in a faster way than the obvious. so they can see these things during a solve.
hey your videos are great man....i watch all of your videos you explain them very clearly....would you watch my videos????im so close to getting sub 20 solves now thanks to your vids...i think i need to look ahead more in my solves and less cube rotations
I need a cube as smooth as this one, can anyone recommend one to buy? My average is down to 28 seconds and i'm working on learning full OLL right now, I know 14 algorithems so far..
@Lastesina the they recently released a dughan (lone goose) cube that i heard was amazing. the alpha V (5) is an awesome cube ( if only i had mine in black) and the F II is also an amazing cube.
@Lastesina Speedcubeshop com, person is really nice and has amazingly fast shipping. or cube4you com they have some problems but they ship all over the world (rather expensive shipping and takes a while)
I get a case a LOT where I'll be performing an alg to insert a pair, an in the middle of the alg, I'll notice a pair already formed in the top layer. Would you abandon what you're doing and insert the formed pair or keep going and hope you don't screw up the pair?
@xxoxia I hate when that happens. It's a good question... I kinda do both. I'm still not sure what is best to do in that case... still investigating :( I want to say it depends, but that's not too helpful
@badmephisto - Well, it's good to know that you come across some of the same issues. It totally throws me off when it happens. At least you thought it was a good question. Some of the crap you get asked on here is hillarious with the answers you give.
@Tortak39 - I've had trouble deciding this as well. Lately though, if I have to do a y2, I'll turn the U layer, but if it's just a y or y', I'll rotate the cube. The only time I do a y2 is when I know the PLL alg ends in a way where it's hard to turn the U layer after, such as an R or E perm, although, I know how to do E perms from both sides.
Probably the only way to drop to the 30s is to learn fridrich then go back and have more knowledge of the cube, I do fridrich and I can do ~35s with beginner but I STRONGLY advise F2L to any beginner even if it takes longer at first.
pratice makes perfect :) but seriously.. take your time make sure u get a good look at the cube so you dont have to stop between steps things like that... do it a bit slower and check out how long it takes u to realise what peices will end up where and you'll get better (trust me)
Keep rewatching meph's vids, and make sure you practice slowly or fast, improve your times by recognising the cases quicker and then solving them quicker!
hey hey hey ! i have a question . if i need to turn the back face , how can i do that but at the same time , not waste time rearranging my hold on the cube to turn the back face ? please somebody gve me an answer .
1. find your first pair, find the slot where it needs to go. close your eyes and insert using purely muscle memory. repeat until you never miss.
2. once you're able to insert without looking at your pair, instead of closing your eyes while inserting, use your eyes to scan the cube for the next pieces you need.
the more you practice, the more the motions become automatic, the better your look-ahead will become.
oh my god dude, everyone at my school says" that's just terrible" ALL THE TIME and i was serouisly about to fight a kid today cause he wouldnt stop saying it!! and i was watching this, andand 2 min 3 seconds you said it! wow that is so weird lol, only today i got mad about it, andthe same day you said it lol!!!!!
hi again. i have now memorise your 2 look OLL and 2 look PLL , and i do the cross in about 10 seconds, and my record is yet 1 minute and 24 seconds, cause i'm struggling with fl2, i take a lot of time doing it .
can't you make a video of the most common algorithms you need to understand of f2l ? you have one pretty good, but some more would be asewome. i have the aplets -.-
I use the 2 look OLL and 2 look PLL + Cross + F2L and my best is 46s and avg is 1m. You need to learn some F2L fingertricks and maybe a better cube if your one is hard to turn with one finger.
Work on the cross. Memorize the cross, do it in the least amount of moves as possible. I can get sub-30 second solves on the beginners method, with no shortcuts, unless you count the moves backwards, it just takes a lot of practice. I am just now learning this F2L and the 2 look stuff. My best average is 29 seconds with the beginner's method, and with a 23 second PB again with beginner's method. I wish I had learned the OLL and Pll earlier lol...
I used it for maybe 3 months, switched to 4 look last layer, and started learning intuitive F2L. I know all but like 3 PLLs. I still use beginner method F2L when I am timing myself because my personal best using this is 21 seconds. I have been cubing for maybe 5 months.
hey badmephisto, if someone actually took the time to write down all 43 quintillion algorithms to solve the cube in one algorithm, would you bother learning any of them?

hi again. i have now memorise your 2 look OLL and 2 look PLL , and i do the cross in about 10 seconds, and my record is yet 1 minute and 24 seconds, cause i'm struggling with fl2, i take a lot of time doing it .
can't you make a video of the most common algorithms you need to understand of f2l ? you have one pretty good, but some more would be asewome. i have the aplets -.-

How long did you practise with beginners for?
KingFrosty73 2 years ago
I used it for maybe 3 months, switched to 4 look last layer, and started learning intuitive F2L. I know all but like 3 PLLs. I still use beginner method F2L when I am timing myself because my personal best using this is 21 seconds. I have been cubing for maybe 5 months.

check out his cross videos. it really helped me.
this is how i get my cross...it might help u.
i ask myself: "WHAT IS MY PLAN?"
then i get the white edges on top relative to other edges, so at the end, i just adjust the cross...i get my cross in around 4-5 seconds.
my average is 30-35 seconds....best is 24seconds....so if it can work with me, it will work with u =)

i have the same average as u,my personal best is 19 seconds pll skip

the case where you used the 'slice' move was ingenious
as a newbie cuber but one that can appreciate such innovation, that was good stuff
the whole f2l video was good. all your videos are good.
must. practice. f2l...

so do we have to memorise the alogaritms for all the cases of f2l or only for special cases only?
