I agree Idnarmadur. I actually think Hyacinth is quite a nice person. She's always there for her family when they need her no matter what she thinks of them. And she's very tolerant of Elizabeth. She still invites her for coffee even though there's a good chance it will end up all over her kitchen floor, and never gets cross with her for breaking her expensive china.

When I was eleven, I was in a car accident that left me laid up in bed for a time. I wasn't well enough to read or do anything that involved some sort of body movement. One afternoon, there was a marathon of this show being shown on PBS, and I haven't looked back! I always secretly wished that we could meet Tarquin (as played in my mind by John Inman), or get a look into H and Rs courtship, wedding, birth of Sheridan, etc. I assume that H chose R because she could bully him. Doesn't matter.
