It isn't wrong, he's just not doing the blues-shuffle-type-thing where you shift from the root-fifth to root-major sixth. Also, Marc plays the A in the open position on the A and E strings, he's just playing the same chord on a different position on the fretboard. He's playing all the right chords (E, A, and B), just a little differently than Marc did.
