  • Heres a good fix, get rid of that retarded instigator penalty and let loose Colton Orr on Boyes ass!!!! Look up the fight between Adamn Mcquaid and that piece of shit Torrez. THATS HOW YOU PROTECT YOUR PLAYERS!!! HE DOES IT AGAIN GET YOUR ENFORCER AFTER HIM!!!!

  • man shanahans a ugly peice of fuckin shit.

  • Shanahan is a fuckin joke..

  • Ur comment about targeting heads I had to laugh that was hilarious

  • Hockey is becoming a pussy sport like the NFL. Hits to the head are tough, but it's fucking hockey, it's gonna happen. How do you take away hits in hockey without ruining the sport? Bettman must die.

  • @Evenflowist314 Dude i kno its part of the sport ( i play hockey) but checks to the head are dangerous. And i personally think they're dirty u can still lay a hit and not to give the dude a concussion and put him out for a couple months and get suspended like a dumbass. Yeah idk thats just me i still level dudes with shoulder on shoulder hits cuz i dont play dirty and aim for guys heads cuz thats fucking dirty.

  • @BLOCK19PRODUCTIONS

I'm not saying that headhunting is okay (unless you're Milan Lucic apparently) but when something like that happens with players who aren't known for making dirty hits, I feel there should be some benefit of the doubt involved. Fine them, kick them out of the game if it's bad but don't pull multi-game suspensions for hard hits that are not malicious or intentional. I know the NHL rules say different, but there's only so much you can do to contain the physicality.

  • @Evenflowist314 Eh i do agree with u on Luches hit on Miller. But there is not really an exception on a "clean" head hit. But yeah sometimes players get suspended on hits that aren't necessarily dirty or intentional especially if the player has no record or previous history and sometimes those "dirty" hits aren't intentional. Honestly no illegal hit should be intentional. But it's really up to Shannie and the NHL on what they decide to do i guess....

  • fuck you shanahan! You['re a pussy.

  • This was a terrible call, He had his head down, and if no one noticed, he was going backwards, meaning boyes angle was changing different. Wasnt on purpose and wasnt his fault. Shouldnt be a suspention.

    STOP RUINING HOCKEY

  • I love what Shanahan is doing, but this is a little questionable. There is no injury and in my opinion, while it is the responsibility of the checker to know what he is doing, i also believe that players in the NHL should know by now to keep their head on a swivel. If not, at least keep their head up!!! On the other hand, it was made VERY CLEAR to the NHL players about the new rule changes. But you also can't blame the checker due to the high speed of this incredible sport!

  • TERRIBLE decision. Complete joke of a suspension

  • That wasn't suspension worthy. I'm glad they're trying to crack down, but if that hadn't been pre-season, there's no way that would be a suspension. The Leafs player was just in a bad position as Boyes came in to hit him

  • ive seen three of these so far, and they all have involved toronto. lol

  • @imNotess of course they involve toronto, the league sucks the Canadian teams dicks, especially toronto

  • @wetherby16 GOOD FOR THEM!!!

  • haha horrriiibbbllleeeee......i aint even a sabre fan but this is BS great hit maybe they should just enforce a heads up rule.....guys getting booted from the game and then suspended......they should just call this the crosby rule

  • these explanations make the rules a lot clearer

  • Can someone please tell me where else he was supposed to hit him? was he supposed to bend down and football tackle him? If that is an illegal hit, you mise well just eliminate hitting from hockey. This sport that I have grown up to love is going downhill and it's a shame.

  • Absolutely stupid that accidental hits result in multiple game suspensions. At his point, It's stupid to even follow through with a hit. There are dangers inherit in this sport, It's part of the reason (as far as i'm concerned) that people get millions of dollars to play it. So be tougher with the calls, with truly reckless or intentional hits suspend. But seriously, Unintentionally clipping another player in the head in the height of the game. Stupid.

  • I want to know what kind of suspension would a player get if they caused someone to have a concusion, like when joe throrton hit david perron and ruined the rest of his season?

  • i just hope the NHL remembers the difference between a hit to the head, and a clean open ice hit

  • futisforum2

  • Right on, Shanny!

  • This is a joke. While I'm glad the NHL is taking action. This is going to get ridiculous really fast. Armstrong's hit was worse and and to an unsuspecting player with his back turned. I'd have no problem if you would have suspended both Boyes and Armstrong. This just seems like you chose to suspend a player with no previous offenses just to make an example of him. The NHL continues to be a joke. How about a video as to why the Armstrong hit wasn't suspendible.

  • god forbid these guys play hockey wow cant hit no more why dont we just have girls play to

  • @mrgiggles073 Learn english buddy.

  • @mrgiggles073 apparently you've taken some hits to the head eh bud.

  • Shanahan you sir are fantastic, finally the NHL pulls its head from the sand. :)

    Respect.

  • I'm all for cutting down on bad hits. But if the NHL becomes too sensitive then hockey will become a lot less physical and entertaining for everyone.

  • I think the embarrassment of having this kind of public video describing your conduct should be enough of a deterrent for players to stop with the illegal hits and be more careful on the ice.

  • @tevster1316 i like it too. players just have to make hits that are targeted accurately. make a check with "control." eventually the players with acclimate to the new way, but it's to their benefit.

i think the biggest reason this is a great thing is because i don't want to see my Wings lose any great players to a hit in the head that could of just been a legal check. I am sure the players don't want to lose there careers early.

  • his head was down a little bit but not that much, hope the league doesn't get too sensitive with this issue. all for players safety but remember some players have to think about there safety as well and know of the possibilities that happen when you lower your head...

  • WHY DOES INJURY HAVE THE RESULT IN SUSPENSION? terrible reasoning only call of Shannys I have diusagreed with so far. Love how he explains his reasoning though. All-in-all, expect to see lots of long-term suspensions this year.

  • i like the headshot rule. But when a guy has his head down and he gets hit straight on (no a blindside east west hit) i dont think there should be a suspension. If this hit is a suspension, there's going to be a shit load of suspensions this year. So much for hitting in hockey. Everyone is gonna be to apprehensive to try and hit now...

  • No offense, but Colborne did turn into the hit. Boyes can't just disappear ... shitty suspension!

  • Shanahan is doing a fantastic job so far. With the rule changes since the lockout the game's speed has increased drastically allowing hits like this (however unintentional) to occur. The league has to start protecting its players from repeated blows to the head. Their lives don't end after they retire from the NHL, most have families and kids they have to support and having them suffering from various syndromes from head hits really will effect their lives after hockey.

  • @shaunathinshavis If they dont like the risks, dont play. Its their job and it should stay that way.

  • @x30xSabresFan

I realize that their job can be dangerous, but there's nothing wrong with taking out the unnecessary risk. It's like if someone was working as an electrician and the power wasn't turned off while they were wiring something. If they're very careful, most likely something won't go wrong, but they could make a mistake that one time for any reason and get really hurt. Wouldn't it just make more sense to turn off the power in the first place so there's less of a chance it happening?

  • @shaunathinshavis Shanahan is a biased idiot who obviously doesnt kow what hes doing. Exhibit A Lucic hit on miller. Exhibit B flyers hit on gerbe injurying him Exhibit C #5 on the Ottawa Senators Lee highsticks Kaleta to the face intentionaly(he shold be charged with assault). And all of these resulted in injuries and recieved only 2min penalties.

  • hockeys fuckin' ruined, let the kids play you have a helmet for a reason buddy. if they can't keep their heads up why are they in the NHL

  • @Cameron1887 good idea. lets all go break our necks

  • Gay. He's a clean player that will be considered a repeat offender next time? Wow women's hockey is what will be watching soon.

  • love what the league is doing, great work.

  • @freethinker3161 Yup, cause you know, Everyone just LOVES not having huge hits anymore.

Who needs a physical game anymore? Thats just one of the top 3 things people tune into to watch hockey.

  • @x30xSabresFan that is ridiculous. the game is plenty physical but cheap hits that injure people won't be tolerated. I am happier to know that the stars on my favorite team will have a smaller chance know of taking a cheap hit. these guys who can't get a full body hit on someone need to learn to play threw the body. this headhunting is sickening. who in there right mind targets someones dome. it takes away from the game. the league is doing the right thing for the game and safety.

  • @freethinker3161 Im saying hits like this (that were complete accidents) shouldnt be conted as a suspention. Its making players weiry of hitting. and THATS taking away from the game.

I mean, if someone is clearly targeting someones head they should be Suspended but something like this shouldnt.

  • @freethinker3161 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA thats a joke

  • @GUS34SNIPER what did i say that was funny?
