Yes seriously, i had about 20 microdermabrasion sessions last year, one per week, and i spent a lot of money, i saw a improvement on my skin but still not good enough was i wanted, so, i just once bought the mary kay microdermabrasion set and tried it at home, as i already knew how it is when it is done with a professional, i knew what to expect, and i have to say it's quite similar, this home set has a good amount of crystals...

and they work very similar, of course when it's done with a professional you get diffferent facial masks after using the peeling machine, it's very relaxing but takes time, more of what i expected, so i decided to do it at home, i am still doing it with the mary kay once per week and my skin still continues improving, i have to say i have large pores and takes longer to make them less visible but they're much better, but you can only feel the comparison when you've done it with professionals.

All you ppl asking - Microdermabrasion does not hurt - seriously is not invasive - just feels like blasting sand on your face - if its uncomfortable - just ask the technician to turn it down to a lower setting

well i just got my first micro done today and my skin felt amazing soft i'm not going to lie it did get dry right after which is why they offered to give me a hydrating mask which is what you should get if you go for microderm.

yes it works really well for both types of scaring; the mark and the raised or depressed scars.

Mine was very noticable. I had a lot of small bumps that I wanted to even out. I also had tons of red marks around my cheek marks and and temple areas (I had cystic acne). I would also suggest that you find a good place to do your microdermabrasion. My friend paid 240 bucks for only 2 sessions. I paid only 80 for 4. So yeah, good luck!

@johncopey: sounds like where you went was not a good quality service. First session I ever had (in a small, mountain town in CO, to boot!) had my blackheads gone in 1 session. It was amazing, my skin was brand new! Quality of machines might also vary. Sorry your experience was such a bad one. That would have turned anyone off. I like it b/c I found it safer, more natural & more effective, in a shorter term, that what some of the doctors I used to worked with used. Good luck in your search.

It didn't clear my face entirely, I still have issues with black heads and breakouts and I am 42. When you first get it done, you see immediate results. It seemed to resurface my skin and even it out and the person who did it was trained. People think I am in my 30s and sometimes I get called 'miss' which is funny when a teenager says it. I don't wear foundation only pressed powder on oily areas so as not to clog my pores.

But we have to maintain our skin w/ smart choices afterward. & depending on the issue, body area & your goals - more than one session may be needed. Not all places offer all levels (deepness of treatment) Research & choose an experienced practitioner - whether or not they are in a license requiring state.

I have had a few of these treatments and have a facial in between each microdemabrasion. The first time I had it done I saw right away that my skin was less red and even in colour plus it removes any bumps/roughness. It's not painful - just a little scratchy at first.

The best thing to do is have a consultation before you decide to do anything. I really don't tan my face at all but when I have it done they say to stay out of the sun because of sensitivity. Definately find out all you can before you go ahead with anything at all.

I know some people who had bad results with microdermabrasion. One got telangiectasis, the other actually seems to have had her skin permanently thinned. This is far too harsh no matter the settings. When will people ever learn that prevention is key? Trying to fix the damage is a losing battle on all levels. Just live a healthy lifestyle and that's all you need. SAVE YOUR MONEY!

IF you're in the Sarasota Florida area, go to Lemon Blossom Spa on Market street. They do my skin the same way as it's done in this video. It doesn't look like it would help scaring that much...but..it does. I goe every 3 months. It also removes skin blotches and minor wrinkles. I am a grandmother but my skin looks like I'm 36. It's relaxing also. The facialist doesn't talk to me...I stay for 30 min. not 20.

Not to bust your bubble but youthful essence is not only ineffective (doesn't have crystals that properly remove skin) but I've known it to have adverse effects on the skin. It contains toxic ingredients and waxes that can actually clog pores. My sister got breakouts so badly that she had to get extractions at the salon several times to clear it up...not good stuff. Get your money back while you can! Hoep this helps...
