Fish mate are the WORST Filters/Pumps ever made. My pump has broken twice in 1 year now I'm worried that's going to happen to the filter. I don't want my koi to die :( I'm seriously considering buying a different filter/pump system but they are so expensive.
sorry for you loss old chap/iino how you feel dam birds cleaned me to years ago.my mom rang me and told me jokes over put the fish back in the pond.i was like crazy woman what you on about. spoted the bird the next morring hunting again sick
send this video to company so u get refund and payment for ur lost. Hey, I do not know much about koi or fish, but I thought carp can get air from opening their mouth on surface of water when oxygen levels drop in water.
Poor babies =(, do you know if it is possible to keep koi indoors? I have always wanted to just have one little koi of my own inside so he could be protected from things like this...
You have other Koi still alive in the pond so Im wondering why you are blaming the filter for their death? True there is a crack but how did that kill some your fish and not the others.
@xrayfeeney Also, there was maybe 2 inches of water left in the pond. The slightly smaller goldfish were able to live with just their backs out of it. The bigger Koi, no such luck.
@xrayfeeney Also sometimes fish are stressed or weak already,we cant tell most of the time. Then an event like a heater/cooler going out or the filter cutting off or blowing up happens. The already stressed fish now have to deal with a sudden change in the water parameters and they go into shock and die. Happens very easily especially in overstocked water that has high nitrates . They go quick. I lost a beloved blue Koi to a power outage in less than a day when I was overwintering one year.
@ELTSBABY Nope. We live in Florida bud. The filter just busted. We did get a replacement filter, and that new one is working fine. I suspect that maybe a manufacturing defect?
@esconsult1 Exactly!!! You should never add the pump that low to the bottom, if you wanted the bottom to have circulation you could have plumed it into a skimmer with a gravity Flo bottom drain, the pump would have only drawn to the bottom of the weir door, 8" from the surface. It is kind of your fault because of of faulty planning. Plus you should have added a air diffuser on the bottom.
Aww:( feel sorry for the koi and the guy some nice koi there m8 hope everything got fixed up and working

"Why did your pond drain anyway? your pond pump should NEVER such from the bottom"
It wouldn't matter anyway with my filters because they are suspended over one end of the pond.
Zeamus634 1 year ago
@Arteolike There was some water left in the pond, but I suspect the oxygen ran out in the maybe 2 inches of water remaining.
