A conservative majority on the court doesn't mean that the justices will just start undoing laws which they might not favour. First there'd have to be a legal challenge to the constitutional validity put forth by someone which makes its way to the Supreme Court. THEN and only then should a majority decide to overturn it they will. It isn't an automatic occurence.

A conservative majority on the court doesn't mean that the justices will just start undoing laws which they might not favour. First there'd have to be a legal challenge to the constitutional validity put forth by someone which makes its way to the Supreme Court. THEN and only then should a majority decide to overturn it they will. It isn't an automatic occurence.

That decision overturned segregation laws which were established by the Supreme Court is Plessy v. Furgeson 1896. The Supreme court changed its ruling on segregation only AFTER Brown decided to challenge the constitutionality of segregation. Same with abortion. You won't see the laws changed until someone challenges the constitutionality of Roe and a majority of the court agrees.

The real key to capturing ground is pursuit after defeat. In April '41 Rommel defeated the allies at Agedabia/Benghazi. He then pursued them 2000 miles across the desert. When your enemy is demoralised and defeated, he will run to the ends of the earth if you keep on his tail. Give him rest and he will regroup and attack you again. Always pursue after victory or victory will be worthless(complete strategic envelopment asides, of course.)

The U.S. govt. is not going to broaden the war so it becomes an attrition battle which makes these proxy wars pointless.

Not with the US counterinsurgency manual and the winning of 'hearts and minds', but with light infantry unimpeded by ridiculous rules of engagement.

The US will await a surprise attack and then be up shit creek with a handful of regiments already engaged in Iraq/Afghanistan and will have to pull 50+ divisions out of thin air ala post-Pearl Harbour. WWIII is on the way whether we like it or not. I'm not naive enough to believe that we can do anything about this other than stick it out in Iraq/Afghanistan so we have a presence in the area.
