I wouldn't say what I do is so much as "causing shit", but more of an in depth inspection, static testing, and dynamic testing, to test for structural integrity. By exposing structural flaws, and repairing or removing them, it becomes a better structure. If you put a system under a dynamic load, and run it for a while, you see how the integrated subsystems work -- or don't.
