Sorry to hear about your encounter with the TransAm, GawdOfThunder. Indeed, it is a great car! I'm thinking about moving into a city, and thus I can only have one car with me in the garage complex below the city block.. that means I'll have to sell it :(
This brings back memories :) I bought one of these new in 1976... same colour too. Great car until a Pontiac TransAm T-boned me :( .... neither car walked away from that one.
It always starts. I wonder how Toyota made a car that always starts. Seriously, I never had any trouble with it. Usual brake parts, of course, but no engine trouble. Didn't even use oil after several hundred thousand kilometres :D
Yes :) It had been sitting for a while prior to start, but it went off surprisingly fast. That car took me through harsh winters and murdering hot summer days and it NEVER failed me. Too bad the rust got it from beneath and created a huge hole in the trunk - you could see the ground below the car :(
Sold it to someone with time enough to fix it - I sure hope they got to it.
My KE30 took exactly the same amount of time to start. Because the fuel drains out of the lines and the mechanical pump takes almost exactly that long to fill it :). After 2 years in a paddock.. started with almost no work.
Left hand drive Rolla MAD
mine starts first pop every time

I guess the "Deluxe" part is if it starts.

I had one that would start in minus 40F degrees! Too bad the body rusted out.

Hei, jeg lurer litt på å skaffe meg en slik en (husker ikke om det var KE20 eller KE30 men ligner veldig på din, med samme farge fra 1978)

You shouldnt crank a starter that long. burns out the coil. 6 second bursts max.
Nice car tho!

burns out the coil? no it doesn't. it burns out the brushes and armature.
