@hallc2009 Not when you have a tuned Diesel like mine, I got about a 950 ft lbs of torque to prove it too. So yes, I can out pull almost any diesel out there on a medium duty pick-up frame.
I've never been a big fan of the Toyota Tundra. It has the least attractive front end styling. That being said, I like the idea of such a vehicle with a diesel engine. I'd think a 3.9 litre 4 cylinder diesel engine would be perfect for such a truck. 135hp and 350+ ft-lbs. of torque sounds about right for a diesel engine and for the truck.
I would love one of these.... only they would have to put more of an engine than that inline 6 though. If they put some strength into it it would be an amazing truck .
Toyota really needs to put this in to production. It would make alot of sense. Toyota while a great company in my mind has been lagging behind in the truck class for a while. They make good trucks, but need to get bigger and more powerful to stay competive.

@kawirider206 it's not turbo diesel. If I a ford 7.3 didn't have a turbo on it than it would be a turd. Turbos are what makes diesels worth putting in trucks, unless they are huge CAT diesels. Toyota is redesigning their dually diesel right now and when it comes out (scheduled 2015) it will probably be a lot different than this

They are great, better than any half ton i have driven. I was a die hard toyota guy, but now I've seen what a tundra can do and i'm a firm believer in toyota. They are looking at two trucks for diesel. the first is the regular tundra that is out now with a diesel engine. the next is a medium duty one ton with a diesel engine.
ive never owned a half ton truck, or driven a tundra for that matter. Ive always liked the nissan titan tho, Ill have to try a tundra too, especially the diesel!

@MrDonRickles Toyota has had diesel for a long time. Sorry to hear about your troubles, but mine has been great so far. 3 Minnesota winters and not a single spot of rust. No problems with the frame or anything in the truck at all. It pulls our 7,000lbs boat without any problem too.

@assanoe Id have to disagree with you about the fifth wheel towing. My uncle has a 08 Tundra 5.7 and he pulls a 40 ft fifth-wheel fully loaded with another 13 ft trailer with 2 cars in it. He just got airbags put in there so the fifth wheel wouldnt bounce as much but he still hauls ass up and down the mountains with no problem. I think he is about to buy the TRD Supercharger with C/A Intake and and shit like that

If Toyota does release a diesel Tundra, they should make sure options are aplenty. One thing about Ford and Chevy is that their heavy-duty pick-ups offer only certain bed sizes or cab options for certain trims and all their full-sized trucks offer only automatics. Dodge does not have this problem. Toyota can start by making sure people can control more particulars in their truck.
toyota does well in most things, but this dually looks friggen boring like a last minute effort to fill display space. I think they have room for a dually in theyr line-up and people would buy it simply due to it being a toyota. but they gotta do better then this to catch my intrest.

I've never been a big fan of the Toyota Tundra. It has the least attractive front end styling. That being said, I like the idea of such a vehicle with a diesel engine. I'd think a 3.9 litre 4 cylinder diesel engine would be perfect for such a truck. 135hp and 350+ ft-lbs. of torque sounds about right for a diesel engine and for the truck.

@kawirider206 it's not turbo diesel. If I a ford 7.3 didn't have a turbo on it than it would be a turd. Turbos are what makes diesels worth putting in trucks, unless they are huge CAT diesels. Toyota is redesigning their dually diesel right now and when it comes out (scheduled 2015) it will probably be a lot different than this

@kawirider206 Yes I do, their redesigning it right now. As a Tundra owner, i have a lot of faith in these trucks. I am seeing more and more on the road. They are great, better than any half ton i have driven. I was a die hard toyota guy, but now I've seen what a tundra can do and i'm a firm believer in toyota. They are looking at two trucks for diesel. the first is the regular tundra that is out now with a diesel engine. the next is a medium duty one ton with a diesel engine.

@assanoe Id have to disagree with you about the fifth wheel towing. My uncle has a 08 Tundra 5.7 and he pulls a 40 ft fifth-wheel fully loaded with another 13 ft trailer with 2 cars in it. He just got airbags put in there so the fifth wheel wouldnt bounce as much but he still hauls ass up and down the mountains with no problem. I think he is about to buy the TRD Supercharger with C/A Intake and and shit like that

If Toyota does release a diesel Tundra, they should make sure options are aplenty. One thing about Ford and Chevy is that their heavy-duty pick-ups offer only certain bed sizes or cab options for certain trims and all their full-sized trucks offer only automatics. Dodge does not have this problem. Toyota can start by making sure people can control more particulars in their truck.
