  • How do you achieve extreme macro shots on an EX1? Is it possible? I've tried, but when i'm too close, the subject is blurred.

  • Panasonic is a pieice of crap, you better think about sony EX-1 Succas.

  • Yes, once you reach a certain level of technology, it all starts to depend on the talent behind the camera and what he/she can do with that talent. Have you seen some of the red rock HVX200 shots though? When properly adjusted they look like 35mm film (forusm dvxuser)...what more could you ask for?

  • HVX200 is lightweight, costs less than the HPX and is ultimately a more professional image quality than other brands (film industry uses it with 35mm lenses). Nuff said. Also, the new 'Red One' camera is incredible. But you like this, I like that - that's how it goes ;)

  • @sageofgames

The HVX200 does 1440 resolution 100mbps AVCHD uncompressed HD. Unnoticeable differnece to 1920. It has a Leica lens which is top quality. Does this camera do/have that? Does this camera use P2 technology, variable shutter, slow motion and (digital flash storage)? Hmm I don't think so. Panasonic will always be the king.

  • LOL...ya'll go for it !!! Big ol' camera piss'in contest...NICE. To funny. Thanks for the comment.

  • Yeah I just had to stir things up a little ;)

  • @Minsk45

EX1R has been approved by Discovery Channel for full production under the "Silver acquisition" standards.

The name Leica on Panasonic cameras only refers to the fact that Leica designed and patterned the lenses for them, Panasonic is the actual manufacturer, this was right from the Panasonic parts rep I spoke to the other day.

  • 100mbps AVCHD is not uncompressed. AVCHD is an MPEG 4 variant.

Several things are wrong here. First of all the HVX is 1/3" CCDs that are 960 X 540 and only get to higher resolutions by spatial offset. The EX1R is 1/2" CMOS Full 1920 X 1080 resolution CMOS.

P2 is only a Panasonic technology. The EX1R uses Sony SxS cards. P2 cards are basically raided SD cards.

The EX1R does slow and quick motion.

  • Awesome camcorder. I will buy EX1R. Thank you for the test

  • No problem. Thanks for the comment.

  • Not That impressed by the camera, my smaller and much more convient Sony MHS-CM1 take just as nice a picture (if not better picture) and I only spent $200.

  • I'm willing to bet all the money that I will ever make in my life that you are full of shit. While this isn't a good representation of what the pmw can do, it is miles ahead of your cheap camera. Look up philip bloom, and watch some of the stuff he has made with the ex1.

  • Just to let you know, you can have the most expensive camera in the world but you shots can still suck if you don't know how to use it. Obviously the Sony EX1 is a good camera but it won't take the video itself.

  • with the capability of shooting in full 1080p, and the fact that it has 3 1/2 inch cmos sensors, you can film somebody taking a shit and it would still look amazing, assuming the footage isn't compressed too much, and the camera was set up correctly (white balance, epxposure, ect)

  • panasonic hvx200 owns.

  • all i have now is camera envy :P

  • Very nice...just a little color correction and the film is fantastic.

  • great video and great camera!!
