  • Someone didn't get their computer.

  • looks like rows of massive fuel storage tanks right next to the runway!!!

Imagine hitting those = big BOOM!

  • Only aboard "pilot and co-pilot were rescued." Can't figure out how it happened after a seemingly normal touch down.

  • Didn't something similar happen to FedEx Flight 14?

  • Really? Only 2 dead? I would've assumed everyone on board would've perished...

  • There were only two on board. The crew. This was a cargo plane.

  • it's a Cargo Plane. Normally there's no more than 4 ppl on board a flight.

...."only 2 dead"... really man, u should have more respect on the matter. 2 human beeings died that day.

  • Id say alot more than 2 people died that day. But i get what your saying

  • Crew is made of 4 poeples. 1 mecanician, One board Ingeneer and two pilots. This is fret transportation so no passengers in it as Fedex is a Fret company, not a passenger transportation company. But two dead is still too much ! God bless the victims...

  • ..it was a cargo plane...so...only a few crew members would have been on board...

  • Fed Ex planes do NOT carry passengers...So everyone on board--the two pilots--died...

  • As I read these comments it makes me upset that you peole blame the pilots from something like this. This is a bad tragedy that has happened and all yall can do is blame someone. My father was the co-pilot on that plane and too hear that yall are blameing him for trying too save his life and his best friend just means you obviously dont know what it feels like too lose someone soo special too you!!!

  • looks like they thought they were down after the 1st bounce. it sucks

  • Captain is always responsible for decision to land due to weather, not the air traffic control.. Pilot induced over controlling is a factor here.. Diverting would have been the better option but there is pressure for pilots to land due to the costs of diverting. RIP

  • ''UPDATE'', the pilot and co pilot unfortunatley

    didnt survive R.I.P

  • "go-around"

  • looks like it wheel barreled

  • surely if there was strong winds

the safe thing to do is to close the airport till it calms down?

  • the wind is factor only when you see the huge crosswind at the second bounce but why the pilot go for it with the front gear? ffs the md`s are not c-130..

  • It's happened because of MD11...

  • It could be the wind, sure. But what amazes me is the fact this plane bounced. What type of force must that take to do that, or was it the plane speed/pilot error? RIP to the ones who died on their job.

  • plane usually bounces like that if going too fast but ya the wind could be a factor as well

  • Do you think they may have taken auto-pilot off and tried landing manually? If so that there was a big mistake. Landing a MD-11 manually is very difficult. Especially if there are some pretty extreme cross-winds. I believe (if pilots did not try this) after that first bounce they should have thrust up, and taken off again, but it clearly looks like the pilot(s) forced it down. I try and look at this in a positive way as well, at least they died doing something they loved to do.

  • Yes, they've probably did use the autopilot, but the autopilot ALWAYS needs to be disengaged before touching down (Which was shown here). I don't think there was any possible way the pilots could off climbed up for another go around since the plane touched down...

  • Difficult to land manually? You obviously don't know what you're talking about. I fly jets for a living and while the MD-11 may in fact have a CAT III autoland system, it is meant for low visibility situations. That airplane is in fact, easily handled manually and is routinely hand-flown in landings. Something catastrophic happened here and we won't know what it is for probably quite some time.

  • Totally agree....

  • @krayzieillaskan This is the real world, not a simulator flown by a mediocre pilot.

  • Japan news stations always keep information till they are sure about it.

  • O.O holy shit

  • shut up people died here !!! show everyone some condolences

  • exactly people died here and instead of leaving a nice comment poeple are arguing with each other who died when, and what the anchor said, that is my point. Im not laughing at what happened at all.

  • Wow nice way to be sarcastic and funny since this cost the life of two people.

  • RIP for both Pilots.

  • the pilots survived

  • No they didn't.

  • it says so in this vid...

  • it's tragedy. both pilots were experienced navigators. to the families i offer my sincere condolonces. may they rest in peace..

  • you morons... have you ever thought what time this news was released!! NHK worldworld was first to report and the two pilots were in fact rescued and brought to emergency hospital where pronounced dead. listen to the anchor again morons..

  • ya no shit they said the pilots were ok and 2 passengers were killed

  • whos the moron @ the news station that told the anchor the pilots were rescued? theyre both dead!
