I've been trying to reach you everywhere! Can you PLEASE tell me the name of the LAST SONG, at the End of your "Rory Gallagher Tribute 60" video, the one with the fingerpicked acoustic intro, WITH ALL THE HARMONICS?
I love that song, but cant find a name- PLEASE CAN YOU GIVE THE NAME, OF THAT LAST SONG?
I'd likt to to try and learn it. I like your videos, by the way-Great Job- you have a GREAT influence, in Rory- Peace--
@luapsel58 love all the tunes, his acoustic portions were never the boring part!, saw him twice at Cleveland Agora, and 1 time in a little bar in DC. Always has been on my top 5 guitarists all time (someone's always left out no matter how hard you try). So anyway it will be my daughter Rory's 23rd Bday coming up so...... ya I'm a fan!

I am 63..I saw him my 1st time at the Smiling Dog Saloon in Cleveland Ohio..my hometown....he wasnt a good friend..I never met him..BUT I watched him PLAY..one amp..one guitar player...and my jaw dropped open....and I never forgot him...by the way....my jaw is still dropped open and it is 2010...thats a lotta bugs in my open mouth... rip guitar man
Millions of people haven't seen this video, chances are those millions haven't heard of Rory, if your reading this, I small hole in your soul was just filled with the only piece of the puzzle that would fit, the sounds of Rory Gallagher. Some how you go away feeling just a lttle bit more complete. Thanks for the video, Thank you Rory for 35 years of music in my life. Happy Birthday, see yah soon
@evelskunny He's one of the best-kept secrets of Rock, outside of Rory, since most Americans didn't get to see as much as in Europe once his fear of flying took hold. Check out Gov't Mule (Warren's band) playing "Beaurifully Broken", and "Thorazine Shuffle".
That being said, the closest thing to Rory would probably be Clapton, or Derek Trucks... something in there. But there'll never be anybody who can touch Rory.
Rory was a good friend and I got to see him play many times! I miss him a lot still! No one could ever be as exciting as he was. But Warren Haynes comes close! Check out some of his stuff!
Thanks for posting. Rory was great acustic, heard Hendricks on a bbc show, playing acustic blues. Sure looking forward to meeting them on the other side :)
great video, Rory was the greatest without a doubt. His range was phenomenal. Not only was he the best live electric player ever, but his acoustic/steel playing was unparalleled. I would suggest if you gave alot of the so called greats of the 60/70's an acoustic or steel in an opening tuning they wouldn't be so smart
This is an exellent tribute. And I think compling these many vids needs a lot of work.
I have made Rory's acoustics cassette tape many years ago. I happened to get a bootleg which included the acoustic session at the Frankfult radio station. You've put two tracks from the session in this tribute. With these rich materials I got, I couldn't help making the tape! I still enjoy it.
The Frankfurt session is something special, the two tracks i used, "Hoodoo Man" and "Gypsy Woman" are some of his finest acoustic works in my opinion. Thanks for watching.
PAWDRAIG!!! I think this is great, but I have a Q (as always). How come you could do SOOO much, in so little time, and still get away with an extra 59 seconds? The devil is NEVER that nice to me!
What, no Going to my hometown, his mando masterpiece (and the main reason for me to buy this great little instrument)! Ok, there's a backing band there, but he always included it as the finale of his acoustic parts of the gig, and there are also couple of solo mandolin versions of the song (see the one from Irish TV, "Me and my music", 14 february 1977), and I have another one (audio only), on radio 18 march 1980 (similar to the Irish TV acoustic setlist, 6-7 songs). Btw, hello again, padraig!
"i left out loads of his acoustic stuff like the tradtional/folk ones from Wheels Within Wheels, and some of his original compositions like Not Awake Yet, Don't Know Where I'm going, Just the Smile, etc and i even left out Western Plain"
yup... maybe you'll post it on part 2 ;-) ... anyhow, I've seen it all... lemme know if you want that other solo version of GTMHT. Have a good one.
Yeah i'd love to hear that version, the Dublin 77 one is great but it stops abruptly 3 minutes in. I left it out of this because i wanted this to be more about his delta blues as i feel that is a side of him that is less well known where as the other acoustic ones are relatively common, some of these tracks are incredibly rare.
I also bought a mandolin because of that song, i mostly play traditional stuff on it now though.
Great! Nice work, Padraig314! Really a great idea to speak about RG's acoustic work. He was one of the greatest acoustic guitar player I've ever heard, playing ragtime, Delta blues, Piedmont Blues, folk music with so much ability! Thanx!
Thanks man, and you're right, here i only focused on his delta blues stuff, i left out loads of his acoustic stuff like the tradtional/folk ones from Wheels Within Wheels, and some of his original compositions like Not Awake Yet, Don't Know Where I'm going, Just the Smile, etc and i even left out Western Plain yet there's still so much of his acoustic stuff here, people don't realise how great a solo musician the man was.
Grieve not friends, we will see him again...
