america remembers japan when they need japanese money or to extend bases lease.

but after japan pays or extends the base lease, america generally forgets them until the next time they need something.

All I can say is I hope for nothing but the best for Japan and all nations for that matter. I think America and Japan have offered each other much and will continue to do so for many many years to come. I say that from an economic, and cultural stand point, not just an optimistic one. =)
