Yes, they often have their elbows down low on purpose but be careful with this arm position! It's easy to end up looking like a T. Rex, with their goofy looking useless extra short arms that stick out at a weird angle. I would say that it is an "artistic styling." If you don't have a specific reason (such as the subtext of the music) to hold your arms that way, please put them either all the way up, or all the way down, and gracefully curved.
Love Rachel as always but Elizabeth stands out for me in this one (check out her other new stuff on you tube, she's a joy to watch) . Love the style and the joy here, gorgeous costumes and music.
I saw your videos, you look great in your costumes, Hilde! I'm no dancer at all but enjoy watching the dancing and listening to the music. I kind of stumbled on Rachel Brice when looking for some different music on you tube. I doubt any of these ladies will ever come to my town (Dayton, OH) but I enjoy being able to see all of you here.

i'm not sure this is tribal fusion... i mean, their costume are tribal's costumes, but their dance is not! i don't see any snake moviments. mabe i'm wrong, but this is not the idea i have about tribal fusion, at the least for me. sorry.
Your dance teacher is right...she is also probably a cabaret teacher. Lifting at the elbows is part of proper form. That said....these girls have dropped elbows on purpose...it is part of the tribal styling...and is intended to give a relaxed and snakey look to the movements. You can move however you like as long as there is purpose behind those movements.
they are such LOVELY dancers... but my only beef is that they hold their elbows so low, at their sides... I;m only saying this because my bellydance teacher is always screeming at us for doing that..
yes, JadedRuby is also right...especially in tribal bd styles the elbows should be held up and back, but the indigo's low arm posture was influenced by Mardi and that's just how they have adapted their interpretation of the dance!

@BelaZaphyre
The strange thing is to cabaret dancers, that is how we refer to tribal fusion dancers----------the T. REX dancers.

what kind of music is this?
whats the name of this song
sk8nska 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure this music is called Tsiftitelli, which is Greek. But you've probably figured that out by now huh?
tinashriller 2 years ago
no no! thanks :)
sk8nska 2 years ago
But it's not a Tsiftiteli rhythm which is a 9/8. This is a 4/4
Lehmann108 2 years ago
@Lehmann108 Chifetelli is a variation on 4/4. 9/8 is Karislama. Unless I have been drumming incorrectly. since 1987.

tribal fusion doesnt have to have any snake movements. You just have watched too much of Rachel Brice! ;)

Tribal fusion is more snakelike than other bellydance styles, but it doesnt have to have snake movements indeed.
Besides, its fusion, which means other dance styles are involved :D

I agree! Plus, I love how the guy asks a simple question and gets 6 thumbs down XD

anybody know the zill pattern?
diana351 4 years ago
Sounds like a regular triplet pattern: Right-Left-Right (Pause), Right-Left-Right (Pause), etc.
itxtots 4 years ago
Gallup, not true triplets.
