Haiti was bad, now things are better. Canada told its tourists that Haiti is NOW safe to visit. Haiti will NOT be on those lists because things were bad and U.S investors do NOT have their investments in Haiti. If you had/have a store you would/will want people to buy from you right? So that's what is going on. Haitians refuse to be the NEXT PR and DR. Like most counties, Haiti does have its problems. But, it is also a country whose image is severely destroyed by the biased media who only reports about negative things when it comes to Haiti. The other islands, on the other hand, have their own negative issues going on. Bad Things do happen in those places as well as in Haiti, but the media doesnt report them. They tell you not to go to Haiti. Haiti is this and that. while the murder rate in Jamaica is higher than Haiti

If you are still planning to go to Haiti by yourself be carefull. Have a parent to pickup you at the Haitian airport. Don't take taxi. Have always a parent to be with you any place you are visiting.
Partially I agree with you because Insecurity is laying down every where ,but in Haiti it's becoming worst. Decades ago Haiti was a peacefull place where all nations came visiting .Nowdays the kidnapping is so high, I will never suggest her to go to Haiti by herself.

But spending money in Haiti in those resorts; will the poor and starving benefit from that money? or will the government benefit from it? If I knew for sure that the poor would benefit from it, then I would. But I would feel so guilty living it up and enjoying myself knowing that not far away from where I was sitting there are people eating dirt cakes and people starving...the same for other countries that this current state affects.

Like my jamaican friend says yes jamaica may have resorts and stuff but my country can not compare to Haiti's Beauty. Jamaicans loves to yell more developed but England has help us get to where we are at and still helping today. Haitis has more history and lots of places to visit.
