the closing credits and music video were always the best part of this program, as it gave the viewer time to reflect on those eerie segments, a feeling that could not be summed up in words..... but that bitch just ruined it.
The most chilling thing you can ever do is watch NBC's coverage of the world trade centre Sept 11 and hear this song in the background .... fucking scares the shit out of me .... and makes me realize why we should keep fighting these muslims !! NO MOSQUE IN WORLD TRADE CENTRE !!!!!!!!
This tv song is too good to be cut into! It's like the way TNT and TBS greatly shorten the opening credits and song to make room for more commercials, greedy bastards.
I really miss Robert Stack. Who else can make shows feel creepy?????? No-one seems to have his talent. As part of my wedding, I'm getting a musician to play the opening and closing theme to Unsolved Mysteries. My wife wants Celine Dion - but I've said "Unsolved Mysteries theme or its not gonna happen". She's agreed with me, as long as they play the classy piano as well.
@scorpioeddie84 They did that to entice viewers to tune in later. If you think that is disgraceful to the original UM composer, check out WREYtube's vid entitled "Family Matters Close- September 1992." The Family Matters closing theme is ruined by Cokie Roberts giving a voiceover advertisement for the 9/18/1992 Nightline broadcast.
actually, I remember one episode (maybe it was the one that this ending was previewing) where Robert Stack talked about when he played Eliot Ness on The Untouchables, and I thought that was kind of cool.
I love the ending of this show; i hated how lifetime edited it. they should have left it on; it would have made watching UM a true blast from the past. Watching the ending is the best; i feel like i'm in 1989 lol. it makes it feel like robert stack is still with us.
can you post another ending? maybe one without the voiceover? thank you so much for putting this up.
thanks scorpioeddie....this show always made me want to be a detective...i love the whole vibe. yes it can grim at times, but i just love the feeling of mystery. i decided to end up going into law, but still, i get that same vibe in law as detective work.....getting the bad guy behind bars.
Michael Boyd and Gary Malkin created the memorable theme. I thought the ending theme was kind of sad, too, seeing as many of the episodes end on a 'down' note.
I miss this version of Unsolved so much. I don't 'hate' The Spike version.... but it's still a far cry from this version and with Spike's constant pulling.. and putting back on.. and pulling... and putting back on, even the vastly inferior version won't be around much longer.
Spike should have just shown the classic NBC Stack segments, like Lifetime used to do after his death.
I know! how could you disrespect Robert Stack like that? They should totally replay his version. The whole point of UM (besides helping people) was to play it just as it was originally produced; people watch the show because it provides a certain atmosphere. lifetime really was no better; they shouldn't have done all that editing. but it's way better than what spike is doing.
0:29 That guy looks like Richard Karn.

The music and Stack's voice sends shivers down my spine, every time. Even in the middle of the day, this uncanny combo is undeniably creepy as hell.

I hate voice overs doing the closing credits. They do it so you can stay tune, for the next program.
