My favourite was blastoise. ever since pokemon blue and evolving it from squirtle.I even used the rare candy cheat got him to lvl 99. on pokemon yellow I used another cheat and taught it surf 4 times, its still unbeaten to this very day. I could even surf on its back.

As the 1st season and movie showed, Mewtwo is a known, rea, man-made pokemon that happens to be a clone of another pokemon(Mew) who's existance has not been confirmed. Mew is just a legend and no one but a handfull of ppl have seen it troughout history.

(yes, I just realize its a paradox XD... but thats how it is/was for 2 to 3 seasons... I don't know past that since I stopped watching pokemon)

Yes, Ash along with a lot of other ppl saw him fight Mewtwo. BUT, Mewtwo himself erased their memory regarding what happens in the island they went to.

The only "real" thing that exists about Mew is a strand of hair that is SUPPOSED to belong to the Legend of Mew.

as it turns out, I took the wrong approach to prove that Mew is NOT #150.

The Pokemon cartoon(or anime) is based on the video games Pokemon Red & Pokemon Blue. In those 2 games, where Pokemon originated, the Pokemon 'Mew' never made it in the original game's storyline or game play. Unlike Mewtwo, who is part of the game since it was released.

That's the reason Mew is just a legend in the anime and why he is not #150 or lower since he didn't originally exist in the games.

Not really... The only way(legit) to obtain a Mew in any of those versions was by attending a special Nintendo event in which they would trade you a Mew. Other than that, you need a cheating device in order to have a Mew in your game.

Mew is part of the "Promotion-only" group of Pokemon.

anyway, He will remain #151 unless the guys at Game Freak decide to change it.
