I'm not sure if any of the songs had anything to do with Charles Manson. They might have been written, and Manson became obsessed with their music so much as to lead to using there likeness as murder scar tactics. This song was written about Corporate Capitalism, a big thing plaguing the music industry right now. This song had more to do with that then anything much else.

For me, i like to believe that as it's one of George's songs, it has nothing to do with either police control or the Manson story. No, this song is about materialism, a western obsession according to the Krishna Guru His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada with whom he was in contact with.

xxxxfooxxxx... Read the book Helter Skelter. Mansons whole philosophy was completely based around the beatles. The race war idea came from the song blackbird. one of the murders was done with forks and knives and piggies was written on the wall in blood: a reference to a line in this song. And Manson did kill people just not in the slaughters he's famous for. Oh and he wrote "healter skelter" on the fridge not the wall

You are right, mostly, except that he really did not kill people himself. He ordered his followers to kill them, but was found guilty of murder through the joint-responsibility rule. Manson was obsessed with the Beatles. He used the term "Helter Skelter to refer to the race war he meant to start. In one of the murders, they wrote "political Piggy on the wall with blood. In another "Rise" and "Death to pigs" were written on the walls and "Healter Skelter" on the refrigerator door.
