The idea about pushing through the fear reminds me of witnessing an act of violence and making a conscious effort not to ignore it. . Making a conscious choice towards resolving conflict. Resigning our privacy, accepting more tolerant views allows us to become more social..The queston of whether there is a socio economic element in society that seeks to control us by sanctioning us when they disagree with our points of view seems to be a real threat from a non tolerant free market world order.
this comment is for textalks. you post way too much stuff with titles that arent descriptive enough. so im unsubscribing because if i dont know what the videos are about i wont watch them. and i want to see the other videos im subscribing to. if you keep them limited to 2-3 videos a day and describe them better i might come back.
Insightful and inspiring. I've known about your book "Six Pixels of Separation" for a while now, but listening to you speak and seeing your passion for a topic I am passionate about prompted me to take the leap and buy it. It's a page turner so far. Awesomeness. Thanks.
Thank you so much for such an inspiring & thought provoking talk, I can really relate to privacy issues and the multi tasking teenager! Had some interesting comments about the semantic web when i posted this on twitter. I hope the web will become a social cause not as narcissistic as it is now which is why 'like minded' communities will hopefully be the future of the web.
fabulous... and inspiring... the connections being made today... and for me personally over the last 2 years on Twitter.. just unbelievable... just even watching the world open up.. even with those who remain partially hidden.. blows me away daily... like a flower opening slowly in the sun...
Yes, each person has about "only" 120 friend on FB, but each of them has about 119 friends of their own. So the content I see on my wall is not ONLY that of my 120 friends, but also of or affected by each of their 119 friend. Doesn't feel like a small social network to me!
IMO, the Web being social in the future is inevitable, we are already past doubt regarding that. What I do believe, however, is that the degree of how "social" it is will vary according to the participants of the services

The video coverage of this is distracting but the message of Mitch Joel, one of the preeminent future thinkers, is absolutely incredible!
