I have a 1999 New Beetle (same color as this one too!). After seeing this video, I feel even safer in it. You can feel right away when you sit in it that it's a pretty solid bit of kit, but this video makes me pretty confident that I'd be alright if something bad ever happened. It's a really fun car too. Loads of fun to drive and everyone who sees it always gets a smile on their face.
I bought me a 2005 Volkwagen New Beetle about 3 months ago, I am 6' 00" tall and weigh 265lbs. and I have no trouble at all getting in and out of it and I am still amazed at how much room it has. It is also a fun car to drive.
I want to buy one of these..but I dont know if Im going to feel comfterable because im 5'11" tall and im wondering if ill fit inside..lol..does anyone know where I could get a good price for a beetle ?? :D

@heatflowers171 My friend had a beetle that I used to drive around a lot and I'm 5'11". They actually have a lot of headroom as long as you don't sit in the back seat.
I'm really wanting to get a 2008 Volkswagen Beetle for my first car in about 7 more weeks ... The thing is I really want one of these but geez, the front looks like it could crumple so much .... I'm just not sure if these things are safe or not ...
@NewYorkCityBoy123 The more the front of a car crumples, the safer it is. That's more of the impact absorbed by the car and less of the impact that's absorbed by your body. That's why this car got a "good" rating in every area of this test.
Actually the front impact test had excellent results. The side impact tests weren't as good. I would hardly call this car a deathtrap. Also, te arch absorbs most of the impact from front and rear collisions. Educate yourself.
i have too bettles 2000 and 2002 the first one is transculent green the other one is yellow this black balls.you can see it in the youtube's account photo.i think they are good to drive and after this video i think it is secure.
i totalled a yellow 1999 beetle you can see pics on it under my videos. went air born into a double sided ditch at 80Km's an hour 17 000 bucks worht of damage mainly because the fans caught fire and i walked out wiht only some minor bruces and a seat belt mark. A+++++++ for safety i bought anohter one with my insurance money
i just wanted to let everyone know that i used to have a 2001 Silver new beetle that was totaled a month ago in a right side front offset collision going about 40 MPH. it was over $8,000 worth of damage, however i ended up without a scratch!
the airbags are surprisingly soft, however my windows where up when the accident happened, and so the whole car was filled with the disgusting smelling powder.
the doors all unlocked themselves, so other people helped me out... i was VERY shaken!
i would also like to say that after the accident, i am VERY confident in the saftey of these cars, and after talking with several officers and experienced tow truck men, they all agree that beetles protect their passengers VERY well. they say "the Germans really did their research in making it a luxury crash experience!" the airbags are soft like suede!
My friend was in a single-vehicle accident with his 2001 Jetta VR6 about a year and a half ago. The airbags deployed and he was completely uninjured except for the friction burns on his arms from the airbag.
He said his ears rang for about an hour after the 'bang' of the airbag but other than that, he was fine. The Jetta was totaled unfortunately. Glad to hear you were okay.
Oh I know i was i an accident a few months ago and the airbags gave me a bad abraison but it smelled so bad! when i smell something close to it, i gag...
This is not the present Beetle. A title change is needed.

VW Beetles are in the shop more often than on the road. I guess that makes it less likely to be in an accident with one...

What I don't understand is why Volkswagen doesn't put side curtain airbags in the Beetles ... It would make them a lot more safer ..
