@hiddeninromance The relative minor of G major is E minor. 1 sharp. A minor has no sharps (via being the relative minor of C major). But yeah, this guy's got some mistakes.
Wrong. First play G then Bm, not just 2nd fret Low E string, sounds better with a barred Bm. When he says now everything's imaginary don't play a D, stay on Am when he sings especially what you love play a D7.
The D is definitely a D7, and the second chord you play is supposed to be a Bminor
And the chorus is well off...there is definitely no eminor...the first chord of the chorus is actually the relative minor (Aminor), and again you should really make sure you listen out for the subtleties of the 7ths in the chorus it's what makes it sound so dreamlike.
@hiddeninromance The relative minor of G major is E minor. 1 sharp. A minor has no sharps, and is the relative minor of C major. But yeah, this guys has some mistakes, and that first chord is Am.
@whitenight406 I meant the relative minor of what he played. I.E. the first chord he played in the chorus was a C, when in reality it is an Aminor (the relative minor of C)

exactly right and it doesn't change nearly as fast as how he plays it the D7 is crucial for that nauseating feel, something that repeating the phrase Aminor to Dmajor loses
Hey bro you did an amazing job covering Lime Tree, I'm envious over it. Do you think you could send me tabs by messanging me or post tabs on the side to help as a guide. I really want to learn this.
Bright Eyes is one of my favorite bands. It's great how much easier you manage to make things.
I'm having a bit of a hard time trying to make out what you're playing during a certain riff of this song though. You go though it really fast in the video. It's played throughout the piece, but comes out first around 0:56, right after an open C major chord.
Can you please explain to me how this part should be played, or tell me what notes you're hitting?
ya, you hit an open on the g string then hammer on the 2nd fret, then pull off, then hit an open string again. then do the same thing for the d string.
everyone is asking for stuff so i feel kindof bad....but could you do something 'going for gold'? i would be ridiculously thankful.
this video was quite helpful. i had to change the key for my singing voice though but its easier to get the basic deal if you can watch somone else do it. thanks for your work!
thanks a lot, easy but beautiful song... being new to guitar (first song i've ever tackled actually) the internet has proven to be a vital tool, and this is just... a godsend, words can't describe lol.. keep on making these videos, for angsty teens the world round... it's simply fantastic, you should really do "waste of paint" sometime in the future though... that's a groovy tune :)
Hey, thanks for the video, it's great help. What's the strum pattern though? I'm pretty new to the guitar and can't seem to pick it up. Thanks again.
ive had people ask me that in the past with other videos and i dont really know how to answer. i am not a very skilled musician and i dont really get time signatures. sorry. the best i can say is watch my right hand and try and pick up on it.
ya next time. good luck with that. when my friends and i get drunk and play bright eyes songs we end up playing 1 verse and a chorus and thats that. i ALWAYS forget the words.
I saw this live last night and the strings are amazing. . .there's a flute player that took the show. . .especially in "First Day of my Life". . .but that's an older song. . .
where's this interview where he talks about lime tree? the strings are so amazing. personally this and Coat Check Dream Song are my faves, just cause theres little folk in them and they are purely original
i thought so too until i realized that the chords are vertical and should be read left to right. so basically verse is G-C-Am-D-C and chorus is C-D-G-G/F#-Em-B7-C-G
THANK YOU this was som much easier than I was making it. Well done apreciate the help!

thats how i play it anyways

Great video! By any chance do you know what makes that really distorted screachy sound in the background in the original recording?
