  • Long live the mellotron.

  • Does this play with your imagination or what...the sound is so unique and intriguing...was captured at 15 and in their grip ever since <3

  • Great sound quality on this upload!

  • @FizzyDrink I'm sorry to inform you but the man doing the questioning is John Lodge and the electronic voice is Ray Thomas. Justin Hayward has a lower pitched speaking voice and Lodge's voice is higher pitched in tone. However, you're right about Mike Pinder doing the last part.

  • The 60's and 70's Moodies were not know as magnificient for nothing!!

  • i love them!!!!!

  • this was such a great album, sorry if my comment is not more profound

  • my father had me listen to this 30 + yrs ago !!! And since then I've been trying to find it..... I hav the LP !

  • Great job Fizzy. Thanks!

  • When I first started smoking grass, I listened to this with headphones on and when the electronic voice came on it scared the SHIT out of me!!

  • Oh these guys were an absolutely original; they had their own sound. They were Another great sound of the '60's.

  • I cannot tell you how much I loved the Moody Blues. Their combination of classical music and rock was amazing.

  • happy happy happy

  • only love can break your heart...many years ago....thx for posting

  • just got the album today, hope it's not too overly scratched!

  • See that album cover that gave me the serious willys when i was a kid lol

  • Simply my all-time favorite music of any genre...

  • Don't think these guys ever put out a bad song! And they sound really cool with headphones. Great mix and instrumentation flowing back and forth! Try it!

  • I'm 26, and a 'Gen Y' and I freaking LOVE this song! Justin Hayward is a genius (also adore his work on War Of The Worlds... 'Forever Autumn' is a gorgeous song)

  • ahhhh, heavenly....thank you

  • Justin Hayward was my ex wifes, Mums Boyfriend......funny old world...

  • Ive tried soooo hard to not like the moody blues. i know their for nerds and extremely uncool. all i can say is..... i give up

  • @redsoxfan1324 Well it's nice to know that you've either opened your mind or grown up...This isn't nerd music or hip music or freak music or old music or whatever...Why classify yourself dude...Are you an individual or a fucking moron...This is music....not a living statement of how you should live your life...Music...that's it...like it or fuck it ....If you live your life to what others think of the things you like on a day to day basis then you aren't living your life your living there's,OK?

  • @redsoxfan1324 always a dork in the crowd...

  • @wildwindsca @redsoxfan1324 listen man im 17 and wen im listening to moody blues and my friends hear that intro, as much as i love it, its embarassing.

  • @redsoxfan1324 i am sorry i shoudnt have said that, i listened to tunes none of my friends liked in highschool and bore the brunt as well LOL!

  • @wildwindsca haha. i guess what i really ment was that to listen to good music these days you have to stand out from the croud which isnt always easy

  • @redsoxfan1324 it won't matter in 100 years when you and all your friends are dead.

  • @redsoxfan1324 Pal, you need to stop letting people brainwash you... It's beautiful music, and if someone tells you it's for "nerds" and that it's "extremely uncool", that's THEIR problem! No need to let other people dictate to you what's good music...

  • @screwyootube1 im not being brainwashed none of my friends have even herd of the moody blues. if i listened to the music my peers like id be on a justin beiber or kesha page right now but Moody Blues's lyrics and image are really pretty embarrassing (i mean "ride my see saw" really?). i love their music im just a closet moodies fan.

  • @redsoxfan1324 I'd put the Moodies' lyrics up against the shit they market to kids today, ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!

And Ride My See-Saw is a metaphor (something Justin Bieber or Kesha probably aren't even familiar with) for taking a drug trip. Not advocating it, just telling a story about it. To find the lyrics embarrassing is just plain silly.

  • @screwyootube1 they really are embarassing. your not gonna be able to see what im getting at because your part of the moody blues steriotype that im trying to avoid haha. and i respect that you have your own opinion and own way of looking at things and we undoubtedly share music taste but if i go play this stuff around my friends they are gonna think im high.

  • @redsoxfan1324 Again, that's just silly, but I DO know what you're getting at. I'm 46, and The Moody Blues aren't really part of my "generation". When I was a kid (late 70s, to early 80s), disco & punk rock were all the rage, but I was listening to Tom Petty & Van Halen & U2 & a lot of the bands coming up then. And I felt the same way you did about Elvis & Buddy Holly & Roy Orbison (rockabilly), which my parents listened to in their day. (cont.)

  • @redsoxfan1324 (cont.) But as I got older, I realized that a) most of the music I listened to was influenced by the previous generation, and b) it was actually pretty good. And when I was younger, I admit I felt like I'd be embarrassed for my friends to hear some of the different stuff I would listen to. But that also went away, as I got older. If my friends think I'm silly or stupid because I listen to something different they don't understand, maybe their not my friends.

  • @redsoxfan1324

if you knew what meant, lol

    today we say cowgirl

but perhaps that doesn't mean much to you either

    it will some day.

    :D

  • @cb800808 haha if you only knew what i meant haha. Ill secretly be a moody blues fan till the day i die but we are just too different to see each others arguements so in the words of Ron Burgondy "agree to disagree" haha. this has been however the first respectful you tube arguement in the history of the earth.

  • @redsoxfan1324

    okie dokie :D

hmmmm. i replied to the wrong person. sigh. some days are some daze.

and Im not even high. lol

  • upload in 1080p It's the only thing close to the actual vinyl recording.

  • thanx for posting this tune

  • trhis shit really brings me back 22 smoking herb just enjoying life great post

  • I remember seeing the pics on the inside of the album and thinking they were old (I was all of 16) and severely British :)

  • @elinorvonzahm You were british,they were not old,just "proper",

  • @lneranger4 And now they don't seem 'old' at all, because I'm too close to that age!

  • David Gilmour on the Moody Blues: "What's with all the talking bits?"

  • @luridplanet "somebody exploded an H- Bomb today but it wasnt anybody I knew"

  • wait whose the 6th guy?

  • @ThrashinMoshPit666 Tony Clarke, their producer.

  • @ThrashinMoshPit666 Probably the guy that does the orchestral stuff

  • @Thoughtland peter knight orchestrated the interludes on days of future past but once the group starts playing the orchestra stops mike pinder arranged each guys songs

  • @spacepatrolman I did a bit of research and its Terence Ibbot , a photographer / cover art designer.

  • @Thoughtland theres a lot of 6th guys but they usually call tonyclarke their producer the 6th guy 2 5th beatles george martin and murry the k the fifth season and handclapper on 4 seasons records bob crewe

  • f.y.i. Justins birth name is David Justin Hayward.....

  • i named my son justin 5-19-80 after hayward but it made everyboby named thier son that look it up from pop singer to everbody else look it up how cool is that r u sitting comforabity

  • The guitar riffs are so awesome, BUT the guitar serves the song, not the other way around. Love that.

  • i dont like how people these days just see this music as purely created from drugs, its not true, drugs enhance your imagination but this music is about the limitless things you can do with your imagination, and thats what people need to focus on since so little people use their imagination these days. Its all about the drug and the money, petty pleasures that you cannot treasure for a life time.

  • Brilliant tripping music..just take my word for it, ahem. Many thanks for the upload and bringing back so many memories. Say aint it time to turn around the wallpaper again!

  • "...it riles them to believe what we percieve."

  • actually "...lovely to see you again my friend."

For my best bud Debs. I love you sweetheart.

    Old fart.

  • Lovely seeing you! Unpresidented music! They dont make 'em like this anymore,,

  • Lovely seeing you!

  • @cloudjia That is absolutely true. How could you say something nasty after listening to something so uplifting, so full of beauty and hope. I'm almost your age, and in my time I was very much into the hard rock scene and whatnot, though I started out as Beatle fan. When I heard the MB for the first time, it soothed all of that pent-up teenage anger in an amazing way. Their music was a gateway to transcend the worldy things into the spiritual realm. They were far out.

  • i think...therefore i am!

  • Dear Diary,

    I've never met a Moodies fan I didn't like........

  • @misterviv1959 MICHALE TSARION IS THE WORLDS PREMIER CONSPIRACY RESEARCHER/LECTURER/AUTHOR. DR. BILL DEAGLE, LEO ZAGAMI, JORDAN MAXWELL AND ALEXANDRE DUMAS PERE ARE HIGHLY INFORMATIVE AS WELL. P.S. MELTING EUPHORIA IS SIMILAR TO OZRIC TENTACLES AND GONG.

  • @uriahheep108 Whats all this about?

  • @misterviv1959 me neither

  • @misterviv1959 I like you... Lamar

  • 2:03 to the lovliest woman on planet earth? "what to do?"...I think he showed me The Castle of King James; The Spirit; from a mile or two off,,maybe three. 'from a mounted position if there ever was one JESUS!...you think John Phillips ever partied with The Moody Blues or is that a far off question!...Rock n Roll!

  • @cloudjia I couldn’t of said it better myself!

  • its on pause for for some reason the picture keeps zooming in

  • 14th grade?

  • Good song from a great group!

  • the moodies not in the hall is a political thing. The moodies NOT in the hall makes the hall irrelivant!

they my friend fluffycat are not smokin good shit. the garbage is in their own heads.

Lovely to see you my friend.

  • Hey Debs, Old Fart here.

Lovely to see you again my friend!

  • Why are the Moody Blues not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? What a mistake!

These guys were and are so good. And they keep on going. Granted things have changed since Mike left but they are still great!

  • This and other musical concepts need to be taught in American Schools. Im not positive, but I believe they do teach these concepts in England. I mean their actors are far superior than American actors, as is Austrailian actors. Ever notice England child actors in older B/W films?? They are so poised and natural, much more advanced than their American peers.

  • Face piles of trials with smiles!

  • @Pifftoker420

it riles them that you perceive the web they weave.....

    KEEP ON THINKIN FREE! ~

  • I think I'm pink,

    therefore I'm Spam,

    I think.

  • Moodies 4 ever!!!!!!!

what else can can be said

  • Moodies 4 ever!!!!!!!

  • Moody Blues albums used to live on my turntable for weeks on end! No acid, pot or shrooms needed, just a pair of headphones.

  • @das178 Thinking IS the best way to travel!

  • I read posts on other music and the disagrees and downright hatred blows me away. Never on the Moody's posts. I think that speaks volumes of them - and us. Long live the Moody's and their fans. Keep on believing!

  • they really do have our magnetic ink.

    Dobie time...

  • This was one of those songs that was a little on the scary side, un til you got to "Lovely to See you again." I really like these tunes!

  • Progessive Rock= God's gift to music.

  • the Moodies are bigger than th hall.

We know that and it riles them to percieve.

  • I also heard this under the influence of A+++++ I suppose, I will always love the Moody Blues

The continued snub by the R+R HOF is ugly!!!

Of Course, They're troubadours in the Queen's Court, this isn't common R+R it's melodic not a sex driven dualing lead guitars!!

  • This is by far my most favorite song EVER. I have a top 5 and 3 of them are Moody songs and the rest are Pink Floyd. Lovely to see you, It up to you,Ride my see saw. Breathe and Money by Pink Floyd DSOM.

Timeless lyrics, Timeless creativity, so beautiful.

  • I promised a woman I'd be ready for her- and her me- in ten years. It's been nine now. The words I'll greet her with when I see her again, the CD of the Moody's she'd never heard that I gave her when I left- " Lovely to see you again my friend."

  • Great song! I'm going to their concert in April and I just bought their new calendar! Any fans should check it out at their website called moodybluestoday!

  • morons.this is what it comes to without faith in God

  • @garebear1015 WTF?

  • @garebear1015 lol...whatever gets you thru life....lovely to hear from you my friend

  • 14 grade was the beat grade to be in because I made through the previous 13

  • lol i was born in 73.....came to the MB in like 89/90ish....and had most of the same pot/acid experiences as some other posts...just 20 tears later...i have seen them live more times than can remember...they are in my top 5 bands of all time

  • i was 15 years old when my close friends and myself each took a hit of orange micro dot acid. this moodys album was brand new and we put it on the record player on full stereo blast then we laid back in total comfort in our hippy yippy acid black light room . we all grew to a new plane of being that day ! a day i will never forget ! we grew up , we learned , we knew we were part of somthing beyond mind and everday thinking ! we became one with the earth and our fellow beings !

  • @kevooom in one interview the moody blues state that they went from an r&b group to a psychedelic group by takeing LSD in another interview it was hayward that said they went from being an r&b group to a psych group by listening to ravi shankar [hayward plays sitar] .

  • @kevooom Far out! When I did some Orange Sunshine, I happened to be in the company of some real lunkheads who wasted the sacred experience playing stupid mind games and trying to scare the other guy in some sort of psycho one-upsmanship trip..ugh! Just the antithesis of what I needed and was growing into. I ended up finding the beauty of God and his universal creations in spite of it, as I was whisked to another space to observe and learn. They kept saying come back!.sorry Chaps, live and learn!

  • I remember when this Album first came out, maybe 1969 or 70. A friend and I just finished a doobie and put the speakers on the floor just inches from our ears, it was the first time I heard this hollow spacey breath and then , " I think, I think I am.. It changed our world for ever... Johnny G... Long Island

  • To sum up the other 156 comments...WOW. Heard this a million times-still blows me away

  • Comment removed

  • I was 15 triping on orange sunshine the first time I heard this. I ll be 55 tomorrow.

  • of course [the fool says there is no GOD]

  • BLUES = EMOTION

MOODY BLUES DOES NOT NEGATE THE MEANING OF BLUES!

BUT, please research BB KIng, and understand the difference between MOODY BLUES and THE BLUES!

    :O) - LOL

  • (never listen to prog when your sleepy. you cant tell if the music changed or suddenly stopped and started back or if u just dozed off and missed something.) anyway, my favorite album opener ever "in the beginning" plus the happiest song ever equals classic Moodies

  • @MaidenFloydTallica13 - WOW, I've done that, but with a different deffinition of 'sleepy'

Or, perhaps sleepy in a pill is the best analogy-- :O)

  • was out this year on a beautifil summer nite-ontario--played this quiet on the deck--the neighbours kids loved it--like who are they--their music spans generations--these kids were 13--15--great

  • i dont know what date this album came out,but my mum played it all the time, this track scared the life out of me im 48 now !!! just seen 1969 i was 7

  • @cornholio1962 I listening to this the first time with incense smoke filling my room and a lava lamp and black light illuminating my room...I thought I'd gotten as close to an organic acid trip as could be created! *L*

  • i dont know what date this album came out,but my mum played it all the time, this track scared the life out of me im 48 now !!!

  • Surrealism rocks!!!!!

  • We used this song to open a stage show for kids, and they loved it. For me, its those two things again, being a child, and being a child during the 60's. How to explain the wonder....

  • Keep on thinkin' free.

  • 1960s were the times of the greatest world war victories in so many, many ways.

  • God, I LOVE THIS!

  • Terry....I wish I could see you again my friend

  • we had to analyze this song in my fourteenth grade english class.

these guys were very in tune with the technology of the day.

I started airbrushing mural's during the van craze based upon and inspired by their album art!

  • @sean57 That's really cool! If only more english classes discussed the Moody Blues.

  • @FizzyDrink or Dylan, or Simon&Garfunkel. But instead we have to study Shakespear

  • @sean57 Summer 1969. I had my first real Marijuana high after hitchiking from Tampa to San Francisco. This was the first thing I listened to..sitting on a wood subfloor with some serious Panama Red running thru my head. Made a deep impression on me from then on../

  • @sean57 - really? 14th grade? What is that? 2nd year of college? / krk

  • @sean57 OK, I'll bite, what is 14th Grade ???

  • @WarriorSage2 technically its sophomore year i college

  • "Even the score with your eyes" .... what spot-on lyrics; only a special talent could think up a great line like that!

  • Awesome song....Played it over and over again...Thanks FizzyDrink...Memories are a wonderful thing!!!!

    NEVER SAY NEVER!!!

  • Such a great song! Peace

  • I play this on my geetar, but not quite as well as them :)

  • I am so grateful my father played music like this in the house hold as i was a kid. I am cultured far more than most of my peers because of music like this. I can safely say that i am not proud of my generations music. Justin beaver and lady blabla.....no thanks... give me some moody blues or king crimson or yes......PLEASE!

  • Don't just like, I LOVE it!!!

  • I was a kid the first time I heard this. Pure terror

  • @gossamerluxe I was 7 when I first heard it and it reminded me of C3PO.

  • this album is sweeeeet!

  • I was listening and this thought popped into my head. Is Facebook one more version of MAGNETIC INK? What do you think?

It is always lovely to SEE YOU MY FRIEND:-)

  • my fav moody lovly lyrics mag so cool in the day posters no more freebie cereal boxes where's my toy a spoon something 1969

  • magnifico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So happy to have a very CLOSE friend back into my life! I have to listen to this song again. Love the Moody Blues, love my friend!

  • did they have computers back then?

  • @IamNivi Yes, there were computers in the '60s, but not personal computers. They were called mainframes. A single system occupied a room the size of a gymnasium; the main unit was bigger than a refrigerator. I can tell you this from personal experience. I worked on them back then. I first saw one on TV (not fiction) in the mid 50's.

  • Great to link the 2 song's together,The

Moody Blues like Barclay James Harvest

are underrated as for the recent comment

it's a debate i'm not getting into as I like

    both band's

  • BETTER THAN PINK FLOYD ANY DAY.
