  • Yes it is sterling plated.

  • a lot of this crap is just plated....

  • OK, fair nuff to all comments. However, I did flip it for $50, so 100% profit works for me. :)

  • I don't get it, you were calling it sterling silver, but you acknowledged that the PLATING was rubbing off, and there was a COPPERY color underneath?

  • I actually DID find an ENORMOUS sterling platter at a Goodwill. It was Mexican, so it was marked "plata", they thought it meant "plate, but I knew it meant SILVER!! $1,100 in silver for me!!

  • This is so naive its kind of cute. "This stuff is out there and people just don't know what they have." - LMAO! Like you? - Oh yeah, will you post the video of your reaction at the antique store?

  • dude siler plate is worthless.went to an auction last night and a whole box of what you had sold for $3. its needs to be solid silver, not plate.

  • Nice set, but not the real thing. Better luck next time.

  • That's not sterling... there's probably less than a quarter ounce of pure silver there total. It's worthless.

  • He's using both terms -- sterling silver -- and -- silver plate to describe his pieces. He'll find that Oneida only made silverplate. I hope he won't be disappointed.

  • Nice buy, I bought one similar to this, same brand for $18.00, pieced it out on ebay and got @$85.00. I did not have the coffee pot though

  • its silver plate goodwill hase people that check it all and goodwill dus not sell computers or parts as its not legal

  • $25 for silverplated tea set. Good luck getting $10 on ebay.

  • Worthless.

  • Sorry to pop your bubble, but just by looking at your set I see that its not sterling. Its silver-plate, extremely common and basically worthless.

A genuine sterling set that big would be extremely hard to find, the holy grail for a sterling collector.

  • If there's copper under it, it is Silver Plated, not Sterling Silver. Sorry... : [

  • so how much did you end up getting for the coffee set bill ?

  • Within 5 years if the dollar crashes you'll be able to find more Sterling Silver in the Goodwill dumpster

I kid you not ~ Oil, Silver, Gold, Pallidum, Platinum, & the dollar are all tied into one another. Mark my words when the dollar crashes ALL commodities shall follow.

  • @Begbucks Nah. Silver is manipulated. If you're right, then nothing on the planet has any value. Silver is about to go thru the roof.

  • @BillKville Sadly nothing does due to manipulation. I have no doubt it will rise a few weeks prior to any federal default only to realize a major correction following.

Do you think that the powers at be would allow you to make transfer your currency into a metal & save wealth? Silver if worth just a tad more than the paper much of it is bought for. There is no shortage, just a contrived reduction in production. Like prior to the recent government shutdown Silver gained 25% & loose it in 4 days.

  • @Begbucks Because of the manipulation.. That 25% loss was not organic...

  • @GTIboost5a No it was due to Soros pulling out of the silver sector. I would hardly call that act "manipulation"

But reducing supply to run up the price as in 1980, touting a financial "Safe Haven" so as to snare unsuspecting & callow investors including the avg. Joe of his hard earned Cash (or anyone who places his trust in fiats/physical, avoiding banks) certainly is the implement of manipulation likely by forces related to the IMF.

  • @Begbucks Beg, I don't knw what to say on this subject. We are on opposite spectrums. We'll not convince the other of our positions. I'd just recommend to you to purchase some silver, throw it in your sock drawer, and just laugh if you are correct. However, I have MAD respect for you and your scrapping video's. I woud truly enjoy speaking with you sometime, swapping ideas. If you are game, let me know privately. Peace, Bill

  • @BillKville Obviously Time will tell but I rely on my investing advice from historical charts as I have provided. I don't see any reason why this climate ought to be any different as much as you might be earnestly led to believe.

Silver is too risky but Gold while still volatile exhibits a pillar of strength in comparison.

Perhaps I'll take you on your offer some day, thanks, however in the mean time I always lurk on YT ;)

  • @BillKville Hey Bill, just realized we had a jovial interchange 8 months ago. Anyway I had liquidated my SLV assets long ago for more a more reliable portfolio.

As long as you purchase below $5 oz you should be ok over the next decade. I'll stay away.

  • @BillKville goodwill checks every precious metal and jewerly.

    this is obviously not sterling.

sorry for the loss of 25 bucks and gas.

  • @Begbucks Thats just crazy talk. Silver has ACTUAL VALUE, it has tons of industrial uses and everyone in the world values it. This tea service isn't sterling though..

  • @Begbucks you do realize that precious metals are traded globally. So the gold market is not based on the value of the American dollar. I will not "mark your words" nor will i even remember them.

  • @MrSockOff Yes & what is the leading currency of the globe?

...Energy & the price of it.

  • @MrSockOff Silver is on a minor upward trend because fuel is up & what happens when there is a crash??

  • @Begbucks Actually, silver should be more expensive than gold if you want to hypothetically base value on scarcity. It is a lot more rare and there is far less of it in the world than there is gold. Unfortunately though, gold is a lot more useful than silver due to the conductivity, reflective properties and the fact that it is one of very few metals that can be sheeted so thinly. But to answer your question, the spike is due to supply and demand, not actual value.

  • @MrSockOff Silver & Gold have a value but not at the realm their are traded, thats just a bubble propped up by ETF's & such. All the metals precious & otherwise will hold the same value as energy required to mine, recycle, handle & process it. The demand is fairly consistent $5 gallon gas would cause a SLV rebound to $40-45 range & fall like a rock should Rossi's e-Cat or similar devices become commonplace. This is why I'm an "imbecile" for wanting one. But I choose free energy over a pile of $

  • @MrSockOff The charts don't lie & SLV dropped to just shy of $9 from a $20 something range following the energy crash of 2008 which became financial & will repeat as another energy bubble is being created.

Gold on the other hand is more stable, but not as Fiats since government decrees to them a value & Walmart doesn't accept GLD or SLV for that matter for more than face value if as all.

You should bring a $20 Gold piece or even better pre-1964 SLV Dimes to Target & see how far it would last.

  • @Begbucks ihave been trying to show that to gold investors but the just cant wrap their head around it. Lead bullets will be traded befor gold will have value

  • @datzfast Indeed!

  • My wife just looked it up online. We have some VERY unique items. Don't want to jinx it, but we're talking several hundred dollars. WOOHOO!!!!!

  • @BillKville Unfortunately, Oneida is like the bottom of the heap, its very low quality and was produced en masse. Sterling silver means 925 silver all the way through, not silver plated copper. I've been in the antique business for 30 years, trust me, no one buys silver plate.

  • .925

  • Oh yea bro !
