  • how do you do you change the type of stitching (e.g: zig zag, straight, ect)?

  • @97rosie straight only

  • That's a nice find, these are good sewing machines but are somewhat dated for everyday use. The reason it was on the side of the road is that they aren't really worth anything. Despite being old a pretty, everyone back in the day had one, consequently they usually go for under $25 at auction, the same goes for the treadle type. A friend of mine recently bought a 1924 treadle model at auction for $10.

  • awesome find.

  • I got that same machine from my grandmother my works perfectly i used mostly every day. I took the machi to a man that repairs someting and she was alive since then. Its a antique machine. Dont throit way just fix it and sale it :)

But i dont have the box that was a surprise for me to know that it was a box for this machine.

  • Let me tell you something that is a great find, my sewing machine is from 1924 also a singer, & I got it for $50 however it needed some work to get it running again, now I have to say since I got it repaired it has been the best damn machine ever & as long as I take care of it, it surely will out live even me. So enjoy yours.

  • If the motor is removable, it is a singer 15-90. If not, 15-91. The 15-91 & the 201-2 are THE BEST straight stitch machines that Singer ever made. The stuff they make now is JUNK. I own LOTS of old Singers & no two sew exactly alike. They were the best of the 20th century. Bobbin case can be found for cheap online (part #125291). Don't pay more than $15 w/ship for bobbin case. FREE manual @ site I sent to you. HTH. Take care.

  • If the motor is removable, it is a singer 15-90. If it has a potted/non-removable motor, it is a 15-91. The 15-91 and the 201-2 are THE BEST straight-stitch-only machines that Singer ever made. The stuff they make now is cheap JUNK. I own LOTS of pre-1960's Singers and no two sew exactly alike. They were the best back in the 20th (last) century. The bobbin case can be found for cheap online (part #125291). Don't pay more than $15 w/ship for bobbin case. I have a PDF manual I can share. Msg me

  • I see you also have an antique 'charlotte's web' VHS as well! Classic

  • I was gifted with one of these - it is complete. Now I just need to figure out how to use it!

  • Most sewing machine repair guys have the bobboins for this machine and manuals are available on line either through the singer site or private people on ebay Good luck. I love to sew on these machines and do sew every day!

  • Did you end up selling it?

  • i have one of those and it works like new

  • Hi,i have a singer dated 1903 in case with original manuel. Is it worth anything?

  • @rastan1977 It depends on the condition that it's in and whether it's working or not, etc, etc. But most likely it is.

  • yo i have the same one I got it 4 years ago and i still can't get it to work for me!

  • I have the same one!... Its works great and it is one of the best!... But... I don’t know how to used it :S je je j... Im learning how to...

  • Did you ever end up posting a video on threading? I have a 15-90 from 1936, and can't find anything online to thread it.

  • How absolutely LUCKY of you to find something so neat! My future MIL has a sewing machine her grandfather used that will someday be mine when I get a bigger house!

  • How are your sewing machine doing? It sounds like it needs oiling. It's a very good machine. If you have Triflow or GT85 type of oil it's great for these old things. There are tiny holes all over that needs oiling rather often. Be careful not to oil the motor, but use grease on the tiny bearings. The tiny tubes of Triflow grease is handy there too. WD-40 is not so good in the long run.

  • It won't qualify as an antique until 2039.

  • I just bought one of these, they are terrific!

  • i just inherited one like that and was wondering how you found the date it was made cause mine has no mnfct. stamp or anything???????????????

  • ummm.. i have one of these to and i need to know how to thread it...... i cant find info on it

  • Small world. I was fortunate to have found one of these which was mfgr'd in 1957 in a garage abandoned by a prior tenant. It works perfectly and I'm loving it.! This one is in a beautiful cabinet and still had all kinds of supplies in the drawers. I hope you're oiling and lubricating it properly. Enjoy your machine.

  • Thanks!

  • can u post a video of threading the sewing machine...thankz...DIPSET

  • Well, i cant do what everybody wants, but i am trying to get around to it.

  • hope you got the bobbin case.If so could you pls show me how to thread it as I have no idea.

  • Thanks, i have bought the bobbin case and i was planning to post a video soon. Good luck.
