Sell the others when your finished to repair the race-car. There are fewer, and its a legend. I'd rather see the racer running, especially since its an Alfa.
i love these cars... i first saw one of these cars at one of those track days when i was 13 i have been saving up 1 1/2 years and i have now saved 13.7k to spend
Yes this is an Alfa, I live in Denmark, an 10 years on the road, and they got big rust problems. When the Alfa 156 arrived back in 1997, everybody said this car is the first car from alfa with no rust problems, they were wrong. When this is said, I also will point out, that i love Alfas, I think its the best car to drive if you can afford it.....
@Pinin500 Its that way with a lot of cars. But trying to restore an original hemi car is just as hard, if not harder. A lot of people would gladly take an Alfa to do body work on. If the body man knows its an original hemi car, they usually run away screaming (since if they do a mediocre job, everyone knows it and no one ever sends their cars there ever again). It takes balls 2 tackle one of them, but it can be worth it. But I think restoring an Alfa racer would be a more prestigious job though.
How in the hell does a alfa get that bad i know they were prone to rust but im gobsmacked by the amount of rust in this gt wow if you look at my vids ive got a gtv 105 and i havent done anything to the body and mines barly got any rust on the bloody thing. I wish you the best of luck with this car mate id be interested to see how you got on..
have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Alfa Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
This car is a very bad candidate for a restoration. I love GT's, but this car definitely isn't worth the money needed, unless you do the restoration by yourself.
AR...built in the historyc Alfa Romeo plant in Arese, near Milan. Now it is closed since many years, the production of actual Alfa Romeo's models take place in Fiat plants all over Italy, with technologies shared with the most of others manufacturers.
oh my god you did pay anything for that?? let us know what happened in the meantime. I have a 1300gt junior from 71 I bought it 9 years ago in perfect conditions. in italy you can find them for little money. how much did you pay for that car??
this is absolut shit my friend, by all love to alfa romeo take of what you need, take out the motor and surch a better basic and built a car becose if not you will pay only rent for the place of that rest of metal what you have there, sorry
ive recently just bought one myself to strip for spares.. the reason for this is the previous owner cut the fuckin roof of and replaced the nose with one off of the 2000 gtv. fuckin idiots
This car has given it's life so that others may survive. The wheels have been restored and are in use on my '69 GTV, the engine has been rebuilt and lives in my Giulia Super, all of the trim and accesories are in storage waiting to be installed on a new step nose which is at the body shop. The 'B' pillars were used to restore a GTA and other bits of the body have been used for other cars.
I hope to put together a video of the other cars as soon as the step nose is completed.
What a pity!! There was too much rust on this car, probably the restoration was impossible. Honor at this glorious car, died giving life at other Alfa Romeo; thanks to the transplant of a few components it will live in other beautiful cars (forgive me for my English not very well, I'm Italian).
mi viene da piangere a vedere un simile gioiello ridotto così... ma la promessa che ha fatto di salvarla mi fa stare meglio. Buon lavoro e complimenti per l'aquisto, non poteva fare di meglio!
the whole roof and the iron parts close to the glasses are gone... I don't know if it's posible to repair them... but I think you'd better keep the engine, rims and glasses and search for one that has less rust.
Alfas are so beautiful but they rust sooo badly! Funny how you filmed the interior through the hole in the roof! Good luck and I hope you have alot of time, experience, or money!
