I'd say much more complex and much faster than Tom.

Tom is just effects oriented.

Kim Thayil uses effects and he downplays the solos in the studio but they are fast, complex, and unique.

They both have their own unique style, but I prefer Thayil over Morello.

Thayil himself was a DJ before Soundgarden so he incorporated that into his sound.

(I'm also pretty sure that Tom Morello's playing was partly influenced by Thayil.)

Tom can shred when he wants to, the lasy audioslave album being testament to that. I just love the rock-meets-funk-meets hip hop thing that tom has going on. And morello plays thayill solos on the audioslave DVD. But I started listening to rage when I was 2 - and I'm 17 now - so it's fair to say that toms playing is in my musicla DNA. But his solos fit the song well too. Also, tom said he uses effects because tere are lots of shredders out there and he wants to have a pore personal style.

Kim Thayil is more of a technical player of course. But he relies a bit on effects to produce the signature soloing style he developed. Sounded kinda "eastern" with alot of their music.

Morello is much more innovative, but Kim Thayil is more talented. They're both great though, and pretty much uncomparable. But I think Tom could play a Thayil solo, before Thayil could play a Morello solo.

I disagree. I've seen footage of Thayil blowing on his strings and using all sorts of wierd distortion affects, strange tunnings for SG songs and a distinctive 'eastern' sound that I have yet to hear from any other band. Plus most SG guitar parts vary in their time signature even within a single song. If I had to bet my life on it I would always go with Kim.

Chris's voice changed a lot actually.

His voice was much grittier and dirty compared to Euphoria Morning (released 1999 I believe). His voice healed up a bit from DOTU and weakened up a bit after Euphoria.

Cornell's upper register was no more than a bloodcurling scream where as with Soundgarden it was more of a technical effortless high registered belt.

But, I think what I meant to say was that his attitude lightened up a bit after 'Superunknown'. he was darker in SU than he was in DotU and the attitude from the latter stuck to 'Audioslave' (or 'Untitled', whatever you want to call that first Audioslave album.)

Oddly enough, I like the 'bloodcurdling scream', especially in "Show Me How to Live" and "Gasoline". =D
