  • @Sonido94 Which love to the details? This car has a terrible interior, terrible materials and crappy fit and finish. Its nothing like real Passat or other VW's.

  • Like a VW Polo...but slightly worse...which says a lot since VW Polo is tiny city car and cheapest car VW made until now.

  • What is that manual hand brake doing there? Anybody noticed the cladding missing on the boot's right hinge - A Passat Made in USA is not a proper Passat. US will have the revised Passat CC made in Germany coming in 2013. Go for that one!

  • I just bought my first volkswagen yesterday and think it's safe to say im never going to buy anything other than a volkswagen again!

  • aint it look pretty cheap to be called it a German?

  • Nice

  • @DASVWPOS Here here.

  • Because of the cheapness of both the new Jetta and the new Passat, I've decided not to spend $55,000 on the Volkswagen Touareg, which I like and that is a great vehicle. I resent my expensive Touareg sharing the show room with these cheap cars...

  • @USA4July1776 what will you buy

  • @TheVideo5094 I got the Audi A7. I'm mostly pleased with it, but the back seats are a bit cramed because of the coupe design. It's still a VW group product, so they got my money anyways.

  • it's a totally different (cheaper) interior than the european version. Also, the european version has different standard accessories (more). I think it's made for an economy that has a bit less money to spend...

  • @splashrun It's made cheaper because it has to be priced to compete with other American cars in its class. American cars are generally made with cheaper materials, although they're improving, so VW has to cut costs.

  • @splashrun can you show me wat the european one looks like?

  • 2 people dislike coz they love hayundai

  • I owned a 98 4 cylinder 1.8 turbo. One of a best car we ever had. So many extra little thinks was placed into this car. talk about the cutt off for gas tank cover, to aircooler in glove compartment, huge trunk, and awesome speed.

To bad the timing belt (was not recomended to be changed by my mechanic) and on a hilly road in the middle of the intersection the car come to a dead stop. Luckily we did not get hit, I pushed the car out of the traffic engine is kaput. Donated the car. kept floor mat.

  • it is cheaper here in the US for a couple of reason:

No shiiping cost. (to load it up in Germany take it to Rotterdam or Hamburg, bring it accross the Atlantic on mega shipps, pay holding fees at harbors and delivery fees at different locatios)

No import tax whats so ever. The car made in Tennesse. US made. and people in Europe already talk about to bring it back as a gray market car.

  • they had to "dumb-down" the interior to accommodate a $20k price point.

  • they had to "dumb-down" the interior to accomodate a $20k price point.

  • @bondage2012 : VW doesn't own BMW

  • ohhh come on they have cheapened this car to the fullest extent look at those awful goose neck hinges on the trunk

  • Yeah, something was not right with that car. It had the old style pull e-brake. Can't see why they'd revert back to that. I think this is an old interior that someone is trying to make look new. I don't think this is the actual car...I could be wrong,...just doesn't make sense...

  • @klukash Not to mention they have also switch to a prop rod the hold the hold up - yuck

  • @bondage2012 yes VW ain't that good as in reliability in North America. But what you said about "I would assume its reliability goes down with it as well", that is not really how it goes. It just means that there are less quality parts but with relevant reliability. But yes i would pick Honda over VW.

  • Had an 07 Passat with a Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) first year it worked great then I went on vacation and parked it in my garage set the brake and came home 2 weeks later and the EPB would not release. Had the car dragged out of my garage to be taken to VW, they fixed it and then a year later it locked up again and I was stranded until the tow came. It is a cool and clean idea but mechanical is much more reliable than electronic.

  • Lovely car, but the first thing that caught my eyes and pissed me off was that huge ass emergency parking brake..why not use the push button e brake like the CC?? Doesn't make any sense for a 2012 beautiful cal like this to have that huge thing to pull up.

  • @rrange It prolly cost too much.

  • they've cheapened somethings but the essential qualities are still there, like the excellent engine, spacious cabin and so forth.

Volkswagen is aiming for the mass market, hence the car is going to be MUCH cheaper than before.

Don't look down on it too early guys :)

  • @Ahamster1 its so more people can afford it bud...have some respect for people without such a flexible income such as yourself

  • maybe some music next time

  • @bondage2012 just because you cheaper car doesn't mean reliability goes down as well. Just look at 2006 honda civic vs BMW 7 series.

  • i don't want this car.

  • @bondage2012 VW isn't market leader in so many countries in Europe like Germany or Swizerland and is in terms of sold cars 3rd largest and in terms of revenue 2nd largest car manufacturer in the world for no reason*

(didn't fit in my previous comment)

But I can understand why VW has a bad repution in the US for the US market VW sells lower class cars then in the European market like the US Jetta or the US Passat.

  • @bondage2012 nooo not at all, it's a promo price , VW wants to grab market share..this car costs 36.000 in europe

  • @bondage2012 Where did you hear that? According to the ADAC breakdown statistics VW builds some of the most reliable cars ever, repayable cars and its subsidiary brand Audi in average is even the most reliable car brand in the statistics even ahead of Mercedes, BMW and various American and Japanese brands.

VW isn't market leader in so many countries in Europe like Germany or Swizerland and is in terms of sold cars 3rd largest and in terms of revenue 2nd largest car manufacturer in the world.

  • the older passat is a lot better

  • The trunk hinge trim piece on the right side is missing, some of the body panels don't line up. I don't think VW is off to a good start. Pretty bland looking too.
