this was a dangerous manouver becuase exhaust gases off an aircraft engine are very hot. Usually the pilots would apply half thrust, let the engines stabilise and then add power until full thrust. But because the runway at st. Maarteen is so short it is safer to just immediately add full thrust with brakes on then release brakes and go!

LMAO - I've seen other planes take off and their jet blasts aren't so powerful as the pilots are usually aware of the beach behind. But this Air France pilot probably decided to play it a bit nasty and thought : "Hmm lets get them to swim, whether they like it or not! :P "

This is a normal takeoff procedure in which the pilot goes full throttle with parking brakes on to see if all the engines are working correctly.
