Don't feed them fruits. The acid from the fruit will kill the bacteria in their digestive system and make them unable to absorb the required nutrients from eating grass.
With that said... it's hard to resist giving the a treat.
Really? Patrick is a tort I rescued from a pet store that had him on lettuce and strawberries and was close to death.. dont get me started. There are no fruits and veges in the Sahara desert. Do the research-- find any page on the web-- none will say fruits/veges (possibly the very rare serving), all will say hay, grass, weeds.
At 1:07 turtle is like oh shit you caught me!

Grass is the best for them. Soon, they'll be strong enough to tear down that fence. If you wanna keep them contained, put up cinder block walls. ^^

if you get one, do the research before you buy.. they should be fed almost entirely grasses, weeds, and hays.. little to no fruit or veges..

Oh, well if it's a rescue, then that explains it. Another important factor when they are young is humidity and a solid UV light.
I've found that Kale and collard greens are also good for these guys, though i stick mainly to dandelions for mine. Hope yours recovers nicely.
