It's a good recording, but, honestly I feel like Rattle and the BPO hold back a bit, both on melody in the first section, and in the slow section in the middle of the piece. I've heard recordings where they've really ran with those parts and it's just incredible. The same goes for several of the other movements from this album, particularly "Saturn".

In my opinion this tempo is perfect. Fast enough AND you can hear all of the technique, which is almost impossible at a faster tempo.
