@gonadotropicfrus When people exclaim that her mother "shouldn't have left her" they forget that in the aristocracy (and the Spencers were 'true' aristocrats going back hundreds of years, unlike the Windsors) the name/title/family seat is everything, so it would be normal enough for the child to stay with that line of the family heritage.

Very sad... The crash expert who examined the scene said that if the French had put a cheap crash barrier in the tunnel as is normal (costing around $40 per metre/3 feet), Diana would have lived.
