It looks like a cross between a WW2 Submarine on the Bow and a Minsk Class Cruiser on the Stern. Call me a traditionalist, but I prefer the elegant lines of a monoplane hull (LCS 1 USS Freedom ) over this Merrimack with a deck gun and a Helo Deck looking What-cha -ma-call-it. . UGLY !

We are right now building the DDG 1000 Zumwalt here at Bath Iron Works in Maine.Ive never seen anything like it.This will be the greatest ship ever built.Sure glad its on our side.

You are a lucky bastard. The DDG-1000 is the coolest looking ship of all time. I have actually researched that ship for 8 months now, and I can't get enough.

However, with a 3.3 BILLION price tag, I understand why they cancelled at 3. 2 Billion more, and you have an Aircraft Carrier.

There is a trend with the DoD, they start out with untouchable tech, then settle for "economical" solution:

F-22 = F-35

DDG-1000 = DG(?) Replacement for 51.

We have no peer competitior, so I understand.
