I'm a junior in high school, and I'm really interested in going to SCAD, but it's a bit expensive for my family right now. Do you know anything about their scholarships?
SCAD is accredited, that's a horse shit rumor and it's not fucking true. Anyone who tells you that is the kind of person who also tells you that it's a gang initiation requirement to kill a scad student.
I've found the more publicity, "accreditation", a school gets the more bureaucratic it gets. It's all about the individuals and tools you'll be using everyday. That's what makes YOU accredited. When I got out of school and got a job, no one asked if SCAD was accredited nationally they just wanted to see my work. Before going to school I would recommend talking one on one with the professors and see if it's someone you want to listen to for 4 years.
Accreditation is important It provides a system of checks and balances for a college to abide SCAD desperately wants NSAD accreditation -will never attain it Your statement is basically their blanket statement while they yearn desperately for national accreditation as a college of art and design. If what you say is true why do they bring legal suits against accreditation bodies that turn them down
National Colleges of Art and Design know of SCADs infamy. As a college they're are despised and considered roque. Look at the "buy out" of the Atlanta College of Art.
"They" is a blanket statement. You're using SCAD as a proper noun and it's unfortunate. Go talk to the individual professors that teach there and you'll see it's the best art school out there. The professors I was under hardly wanted NASAD accreditation. Not having this allows students and professor so much more freedom when publishing work and writing curriculum. Rogue is a great thing. It means individualism. Personal experience and achievement over doctrine.
Here's a blanket statement: The NASAD is nothing more than a glorified group of critics. An archaic 'watch-dog' organization formed to make the most irrational connections between the visual arts, schools and "state objectives" for the purpose of maintaining control. Them and all their affiliates: (ACCPAS)(CAAA)(HEADS)(NOAA)
and it feels good knowing i'm not going to everyone's youtube video about scad and asking them why Scad's not accredited. I feel you have a personal vendetta and you're trying to address it in a very impersonal way. Please stop referring to Scad as one large unified consciousness. Get on a board, become an employee at Scad and address these issues, get them changed, offer some thing constructive rather than rants.
Gee, I wouldnt want to join the southern Mafia. The more that SCAD is exposed to the unknowing public the better. Why, do you not know about the School of Visual Arts incident?
SCAD is a good school, with lots of cool, creative people. Freshman year was so much fun! But be warned, tuitions are forever rising and Savannah's crime problem is ridiculous. My friend was choked out and robbed behind the crimesaver convenience store next to the dorms. Another friend was robbed at gun point on his way home from church. Another was chased down by some hoodlums. My car was broken into 3 times in 1 year. My apt. was robbed. Savannah's crime problem is SCAD's dirty little secret.
I love this video, but "How to be Succesful at SCAD" is even better!

the SVA controversy is history, idiots. There is a lot wrong with SCAD, sure, but it's pros far outweigh it's cons.
