  • Like totigerus said, it's Richie Hayward on drums. I had "Shaken 'n Stirred" on cassette when it came out & I've always been blown away by this drum track in particular. Great snare sound. Great fills. Hayward passed away on August 12, 2010 from complications from lung disease while waiting on a liver transplant. He was a founding member of Little Feat, but I don't know much of their music. He played with a lot of different solo artists. R.I.P. Richie...

  • Yea, Richie Hayward on drums. Unbelievably clean sound! It seems like he was not given the due credit that he could have merited as any other VERY top star drummer.

  • Funny? I'm looking at the comments so far as drummers but Phil Collins? With all respect. Phil Collins is definitely up there but since years ago and I still have not clarified it but the individual toms, snare sound, china boy low, and chick of the hi-hat sound's more like Simon Phillips. Listen to any drum solo by Simon Phillips and it is so uncanny.

  • @789016 Richie Hayward on drums.

  • I hate to break it to you guys...but the drummer on this song is Phil Collins. That is most definitely his sound. Great song one of my all time favorites.

  • @MrFitzgerald58 Richie Hayward on drums.

  • @MrFitzgerald58 - Collins played drums on the live version, but Hayward was most definitely the drummer on the studio version (which this is).

  • R.I.P. Ritchie Hayward... one of the greatest drummers ever.

  • Aww... his puppy dawg luvs him! I'd say Robert is making a statement about the inexorable return to a more natural/organic state of being for modern society, after generations of repression in the Victorian/puritan model that denied full expression. It's no coincidence that the era of greatest human travesty & genocide took place in the era of the greatest emotional repression. Life needs to breathe and run or it withers from within. Control is illusion. Art is life. Time comes around...

  • Good song, not even really a Zeppelin/Plant fan here, but I bought "Shaken N' Stirred" (on cassette)back when it was released, for this song, and another of the album's tracks, "Too Loud"

  • @AJtheory Please upload "Too Loud"

  • I think people seem to forget Robert Plant had a pretty good solo thing going after Led Zeppelin split in 1980.

  • @MikeP9171 I absolutely love Led Zeppelin as they r my favorite band. But I hate to say it, Plant became a sellout after they split up. And he got washed..

  • It's what you say when Snookie sits on your face and gets up off you ................ I can breathe again!

  • Robert Plant's voice qualifies as an instrument!

  • One of the best bass lines EVER...right there with Eminence Front by the Who.

  • @5353QUICKSILVER5353 I definitely agree dude and don't forget about David Gilmour in Kate Bush's Running up That Hill Live at Red Rocks! Check that one out if you haven't already and see David Gilmour at his classiest and best!

  • delicate

  • Plant is and will be a vocal "GOD". Without Robert Plant, there would not have been Led Zeppelin. Plant's versatile in music vocal styles and recordings should show some you dumb asses that he can sing anything not just Led Zeppelin. That's why he's one of my idols.

  • I remember this song from miami vice

  • @showalter4042

Lol, yes I recall that episode. Think the music was played during a scene in a yacht. Seems funny to remember such a trivial thing,

  • when you come out of a band with jimmy page.john bonham.john paul jones,

then you are gonna write amazing tunes.this is definetly one of them.

this sure isnt the police either! absolutely no contest friend! epic fail!

  • the police!!

  • Little by Little the air clears.. I can breath.....again.... Robert Plant.

  • arty farty crap!!! What the hell is this? Why didn't MTV just put up a screen saver of a pile of horse turds? None of these early MTV videos were worth a crud!!! They actually ruined songs for life.

  • love this tune....brings back a lot of memories crusiing in Niagara Falls in my 55 - sick :)

  • love the drums and bass track.

  • @ah304 That's a stretch..

  • I love this song. I used to listen to this at the beach during my 80's summer vacations.

  • :Love the Bass Riff.

  • Robert Plaant mad Led Zeplin and now he's doin his own thing..but then..i love those 80's!!!! Sting did the same thing with the Police...anyway agreed Robert Plant is God~_*

  • Robert Plant is GOD : )

  • Great song, found this by accident but im glad i did, wish i was around for the 80's but just missed it born in 90,

very british 80s hair style on him :P

  • I remember watching this video alot on MTV when they used to play videos that is. Great stuff takes me back to my teenage years.

  • THIS TAKES ME BACK!

  • ROBERT PLANT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFUCKING SEXXXY !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Robert Plant's post-Zeppelin stuff is so underrated!

  • @raelraven2 That's not Collins on drums on that song (totally not his sound from the time), it's Richie Hayward from Little Feat. Much rockier drummer.

That album was one of the best recordings from the '80s. Stunning sound. For me the drums and guitar sound on that song were a standard that few met.

  • Awesome song. Love Plant's voice. All hail Phil Collins on drums!

  • ,,I think the other drummer recorded this song, his first 2 - 3 albums featured Phil on half the songs, it's in the credits of my old cassettes.

  • I think that's the stream his son and daughter were playing in in the Song Remains the Same :(

  • Play this in a SQ car stereo system!

  • Absolutely love classic rock!!! This is so much better than the songs of today!!!

  • So cool when I heard this for the first time when it first came out. When MTV wasn't a total joke.

  • I love Robert! <3

  • Woah!? What about this incredible sound quality?

And of course, another great song from the '80...

  • He had some of the coolest videos at the time. I would love to see him rerecord some of his 80's hits.

  • Is that Robert's flock of sheep?

  • OH I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lady Gaga just shows up everywhere doesn't she. I imagine she'd make a better secretary than a singer though.

  • my plane was landing in STL at night coming home from a trip and this song was on!...it was hypnotic to some sense....gotta love those experiences!

  • HAPPY 63rd BIRTHDAY TO ROBERT PLANT :)

  • I love the Arabic sounds

  • Always one of my favorites !!

  • all bow down to hard rocks greatest singer. any questions?

  • Great song. I remember it being used in a Miami Vice episode.

  • GOD

  • Robert Plant is the king of the creepy video but his songs are so great, they still hold up!

  • Robert hit #36 in Billboard, 7-6-85. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • little by little im falling in love with this music

  • Can anyone knowledgeable about greyhounds tell me how Mr Plant is walking his without a leash?

I thought one was never supposed to do that.

  • @chimproller

It depends on the dog, but some of them will definitely stay nearby if you're in an open space or away from traffic. That's how mine is, and that looks like how Plant's is. I get the same comment all the time "How can you walk him off leash?"...lol......you can train them, but the sighthound instinct is always there, so you must be careful.

  • little by little the world sleeps.

  • I may be in the minority, but I've always liked Rob's 80s solo stuff MORE than Zeppelin's. (Probably helps that I've never been a big Led fan).

  • @lurch321 it does

  • Who did he write this song about? It's very provocative about some situation he had to move on from.

  • @CoastersBolts - from my earlier discussions with an extra in this video, I understand this video is about Mr. Plants feelings about divorce.

  • this video makes my balls soooooo wet keep livin the dream Robert Plant

  • Incredible~

  • Robert Plant is awesome. Plain and simple. If you get the chance, check him out on tour!

  • I've always loved this song...somehow it moves me...

  • 10 people can't breathe again.

  • listen up haters. plant will always be a musical genious. get over it.

  • Good track, bought the album back in the day it was/is utter crap, check out 'too loud',from the disc.Shaken 'n' stirred.

  • The intro reminds me of so much space....so much space all around..perhaps one of the greatest intros of all time...

It was featured on the "Junk Love" episode of Miami Vice..and man was the timing of that song right! Just when Crockett takes a dip in the ocean in his scuba gear. The final part of the song gelled briliantly with that classic scene where the girl finally decides to shoot her father.

The greatest tv series in the history of the world and perhaps one of the breeziest songs ever :-)

  • on a episode of Miami Vice...This song was Awesome.

  • I wish I was born in the late 40's ... i would've been a young adult through the best music!

  • Love the horses

  • goddam the 80's suck...from zeppelin to this? LMFAO!!! so many of the great musicians fell into a shit induced coma during this sad era.

    AND FUCK DISCO TOO!!!

  • @Betters4Millions jackASS

  • @Betters4Millions - listen again; this song is tight as hell.

This song (and many others from Mr Plant) stands the test of time.

  • This was Robert's chance to shed Zeppelin and reach out on his own. It worked then and it still works today!

  • Comment removed

  • The drums on this track r PHENOMENAL!!--so tasteful--R I P Richie Hayward

  • 80s were the best!!!!!!

  • Classic song, best one on that album!

  • F u person who thinks Robert plant is a rip off Robert plant is the greatest artist that has ever lived I bet your uncle bob is a ling pussy who when he finds time to stop doing him self makes up these lies

  • Wonderful song and such a wonderful time to come of age. Love this..Love Robert Plant.

  • wygląda jak Sir Plant z no nie wiem...CUDOWNY jest!

  • this song definitely works its way into my stomach, up through my throat, crawls up my neck, wraps around my head and wiggles into both ears, and then does it all again

  • mmm he's so sexy ;)

  • @GCJOELLUVERR33 Yes, and HE'S MINE. :D

  • @GCJOELLUVERR33 Yes, and HE'S MINE. :D

  • Class, all the way. "Hmmm"

    Great part...

  • the hair cut is ridiculous, love robert with his locks!

  • Awesome song and video

  • @Smashinz2002 INDEED!

  • I wish my speakers went louder!!!!! = )

  • like the music....nice, smooth and badass!

  • beautiful video too, he is so amazing in everything he does do not care hw old he gets.....mmmmmmmmmmmmm the soul

  • hes the most influential rock musician in my lifetime. thanks to him i understand music and its power to move people.

  • I love this song and video. I seen the band with Jason Bohnam (John's son) at Alpine Valley, WI in a terrible rain and fog. Jimmy Page solo and Robert Plant solo tours. The next night Stevie Ray Vaughn and his helicopter crashed leaving from Alpine Valley because of the fog.

  • The bride and groom shown in the second verse are NASTY!!!! Looks like a Monty Python skit!

  • @steelyd330 - nasty? naw, those are just regular people.

If you read some of the comments, you will see they are just people from the community where the video was filmed, not some kind of hollywood extras.

  • This was my uncle Bob's song!!!!! HE WROTE THIS!!!! THIS FOOL ROBERT PLANT RIPPED HIM OFF!!!!! DAMN YOU PLANT!!!!

  • It makes you happy it makes you sad its your mood music...go head white boy

  • robert plant made the the 80s along with heavy metal, \\m//

  • ahhh..I remember Robert just dominating the Rock stations here in Phoenix in the mid 80's........and sure enough..he re-invents himself again and dominates the Grammy's just a few years ago winning 5 with Allison Krause including Album Of The Year !!??

  • props to ya you speak the truth the 80s were special times espeially the music!

  • That's Richie Hayward (R.I.P) on drums. NOT Phil Collins.

  • @54AntScott Ah..you are right. I kept thinking this song was from The Principle of Moments album..hehe.

Well the style is very similar to Phil's style on Robert's earlier stuff.

  • Pity Phil Collins has retired now..would love to hear him work on some new albums.

His drumming on this track is crisp and classy.

  • What does this video mean?

  • Could someone tell me approximately where this video was filmed?

    Scotland?

  • @chimproller Pretty sure its Ireland.

  • @mooneepondskid

Nope... it is in the Llanthony Valley in SE Wales.

  • @chimproller

I can tell you exactly where it was filmed since I am in the wedding scene (the slightly gawky 17 year old kid in the blue jacket!) along woith my mum and dad and half the local community. The whole video is shot in the Llanthony Valley in South Wales. Google Llanthony Priory, Cwmyoy church, or Hatterall Hill and you will see the main places where the filming took place.

  • @4x4Pikester way cool!

  • @4x4Pikester

thank you for that information. It is so good to know little tidbits . So did you see him? What did you think?

  • Wow - I always liked this song a lot, but now fully realize just how great this stuff is.

  • great song from the greatest! but this and sixes and sevens? thats it!!! rest stinks!!

  • How is it people can like this, but not like Justin Bieber?!

  • @rexorrama Hmmm...Robert Plant=Rock God who earned his status long ago/Justin Bieber=Little boy who most adults do not even know...Do the math:)

  • Agree with hazor777 that the drums are amazing on this song and with Tspsoliderboy about it being Plant's best solo work. I can also imagine Zep doing this. It's a terrific song, with great production and arrangement. It's so big and sparse, like hearing music in a giant old stone cathedral.

  • Bam! Pow! Robbie me lad, ye still got it!

  • I wish it would stop snowing--it isn't nice like this snow.

  • They shoulda played some shit like this during the superbowl!!

  • I truly love this song/video one of my all time favorites!!!!!! Watching this video transports you to another time and place, something lost in the videos of today.

  • @chad393na agree 100%!!!

  • The drums on this track are nothing short of A*M*A*Z*I*N*G!!

  • His best solo song. Although Burning down one side, big log, messin with the mekon, heaven knows and alot of manic nirvana were really good. This waws the plant is was looking to hear.Bold, atmospheric, hypnotic, inspiring. i think its something Zep wouldve done had Bonzo not died. The video is amazing. One of my alltime faves. I love it. a tru gem!

  • I had forgotten how good his solo stuff was I heard all these songs so many times during the mtv era still sound good to me

  • its my favorite

  • Little by Little "I call YOUR name!"

  • excellent song! stills has the magic that it had then and still ahead of its time! There was nothing better than listening to this with my walkman and very high quality sony headphones back then. great sound. i remember thinking god im listening to the best music on earth while in school and no one elese has a clue lol

  • @spasmolytic2

Walkman and Sony headphones. HA! Thanks for that quick little trip down memory lane, that brought back some great memories. I may be old, but I refuse to grow up!

  • damn the differences from 1975 to 1985 are astounding...but the greatness is still the same.

  • Maybe I'm weird, but I think this is ceaselessly hot stuff!

  • Where was this shot?

  • @slcpunk33606 Somewhere in Mid/South Wales I believe - could be Lanthony Priory

  • @puddledoo I always loved the scenery in this video, thanks.

  • The 80's style amateur video distracts from the brilliance of this song. This song is best on a stereo, very loud. Plant is a genius.

  • 'Shaken & Stirred' is maybe his most underrated album... He never recorded anything like it before or since. Sonds like the Eighties with a Capital "E"

  • One of my fav Plant songs! Awesome musicianship!!

  • Wich year was thing from? Thnx for posting.

  • @KonChul Its from 1985.

  • fitnessdvdqueen, buddist is not worshipping the most-high GOD.and that is satanic.

you musta forgot about zeppelins bad streak towards the end of zeppelin.

what do you think that was caused by? coincidence? i dont think so...

    plant's 80's stuff was good,but not great.

  • To think Plant made this (and Big Log) AFTER everything else in Zeppelin. Damn, some people have ALL the talent.

  • To think Plant made this (and Big Log) AFTER everything else in Zeppelin. Damn, some people have ALL the talent.

  • Yeah 80's sure did Rule.

  • @badhorsee, Plant is a Buddhist, not a satanic worshipper.

  • @fitnessdvdqueen Buddhism has the potential to bring you as close to God as you could ever be.

  • NO SHYT FOR REAL , THIS SONG IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE DEVIL, ONLY SONG HE EVER WROTE ABOUT IT, I HAD HEARD THIS 20YRS AGO AND ITS WHAT I THINK OF WHEN I HEAR IT NOW, SUPPOSED TO BE TRUE-I DUNNO

  • @badhorsee WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING?

  • The Borg did traverse time and started the conquest of Earth circa 1985. I was right all along.

  • this is at the time zepplin was no more..but..if this was a zep tune...would it get more praies for being a good song?..think about it..its robert solo..but..if it was zep...it would be a classic...right?

  • @MrJimadkins The musicianship on this record is as good as Zepellin. But it's a very different style to what Plant/Page would compose. Nothing wrong with that.

Robert Plant is entitled to a music life after Led Zeppelin.

  • I wish I was born in the 80s
