  • Anyone else notice that Jeff Loomis and Chris Broderick look like guitar virtuoso brothers O.o

  • I like how he's breezing through the sweep and talking about it at the same time...

  • everybody just shut up

  • Sexy Schecter

  • Figure 5B slow is not the same as Figure 5B fast What The Hell!!!

  • Practically this is the solo from I Voyager... :p

  • 7 string arpegios. and i thought i was good

  • Why in the FUCK is Black Veil Fags in the Related videos?

Get that shit out of here.

  • @Genoc1deP7 Calm down hater, it's a fucking youtube video. Get over it.

  • is that he's playing one of is songs?

  • @ GibsonGuitarist1022 You can order the DVD from Guitar World Magazine. It comes with a booklet with all the tabs

  • god that's sweep picking....

  • i heard him talk for a first time and hes got such humble voice and nice personality

  • i came

  • jeff loomis and buzz mcgrath are the best damn janitors ever

  • we cant play this you have a 7 string guitar lol

  • I want that guitar so bad.

  • dude from godsmack is better

  • Thx Jeff. Now buy me a 7 string guitar pls

  • Does he mute the strings with the right hand ?

  • 1:25 .. isen't that Jeff Hanneman from Slayer? xDDD hahahaha

  • 1:12 God mode off/ON>

  • @abrookes1985 as much as i love loomis i must admit that sometimes he is a one trick pony. yes, minor major sweeps and runs have been done too many times. however, loomis has comoposed many songs with these elements that are awesome. but he has composed too many i think lol :D

  • everyone anchors! :o

  • Is this can only done with 7 string guitar?

  • @serobhdz

You can do it on a 6 string TECHNICALLY... but by human limitations yeah you can only really play it on a seven string unless you shift it down an octave and do some tapping after the arpeggio run.

  • @xD0NKEYx i was thinking in that

  • his slow is my standard D:

  • @shredyy then you make some videos

  • one of the best guitar hero on the history of guitar

  • This should have been used in THE OBSIDIAN CONSIPERCY!!!

  • @20silentscream

It IS used in the obsidian conspiracy ;) believe it or not. The exact same pattern he does that the beginning is used IIRC, except it's just 4 or 5 semitones flatter.

  • ahh pero wn ten en cuenta que estas enseñando una figura en una guitarra de siete cuerdas (no todos tienen una guitarra de 7 cuerdas) y que precisamente ocupas la septima cuerda en este ejercicio

  • it would be so cool to be able to play it...but it will never happen to me xD

  • i know but i find brain picks help for general stuff, when im sweeping i like big bass picks , and either pick i use,to sweep with that clean fluency, its like i place the middle of my thumb on the side of my index, when if i was playing a song like six where theres alot of triplets id be better off holding my pick against the 1st joint other then the middle joint . .

  • @Curious6Kevin9 just so everyones got this straight there is no such thing as bass picks. you can use whatever picks your want for guitar or for bass.

  • For sweeping i kinda put the pick higher up on my index finger, and put my guitar over my left leg i find it helps me achieve that smooth flow for solos, sweeps etc. .

  • damn ima watch his vids more often ! :)

  • his 7th string sounds incredibly neat!!!!

  • "simple" seven string sweeps, about that.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • His fingers look like they just glide over the fretboard lol, his sweeps seem so unrealistic xD

  • 0 : 42 Jeff. You are too good! ''And just as a warm up for your arpeggio use''

I shall fucking warm up before i can do that =P

  • Warm up for arpeggios....Yea right

  • And up to speed it would sound like this... OK WTF DID I JUST HEAR. This is bullshit...

  • i don't have seven strings...

  • Omfg. his sweep picking is so flawless. mines like crap. Respect to loomis

  • "You can use it for warm-ups" ha hahaha hahahahaha. I'll come back in 25 years and I might POSSIBLY be able to talk to you.

Oh, and that one person you disliked this thinks that the guitar is the sign of the devil or something...

  • sweeping is such a beautiful technique, and if you know how to to

a sweep line good and fast really everybody's face goes like what the fuck did he? :p

  • I can pretty much own 3-5 string sweeps but my 6 and 7 string sweeps have yet to develop into something beautiful.

  • Jeff loomis, can I suck your dick? Maybe that'll give me wicked guitar playing skills. Just gotta get some of the creative juices...

  • 0:36 "and up to speed it would sound like this"

    no jeff......

    no it wouldnt :(

  • @matt37075 hahahahha!

  • Can anyone kindly point me in the direction of a tab for this please? Thank you.

  • @GibsonGuitarist1022 Yeah, between your ears =) It shouldn't be hard to figure out, he plays it slowly and the camera is focused on the fretboard. Here is a little head-start: E minor, D major, C major, B major. And by little hint I mean big giveaway...

  • @wintershadows Yeah I got it now, just gotta practice it. Thank you very much.

  • @wintershadows Lmfao tell those tabbers whats up. gibson actually thanked you to. Thats some classic shit. XD

  • @wintershadows dude his ear may not be trained too your standards give him a break he asked nicely

  • @wintershadows

Asking for a tab is not an admission of inability. Perhaps he wanted a tab because he just didn't feel like tabbing it out? There's nothing wrong with that.

  • @wintershadows

Maybe he just didn't feel like tabbing it out? Obviously it would be easy to tab. Just saying.

Its a shame Jeff's tone makes the lower notes in his arpeggios nearly inaudible unless your volume is fairly loud. Flawless technique, but like many guitar heroes of recent history, the tone leaves something to be desired.

  • @Daim0th once you learn sweep shapes.. the only hard part is to figure out the root note =] notes are not required really :O

  • @Darkdevil1584 that actually makes sense :P because when i learn these shapes , the only hard part is finding the 1st note,

  • @Curious6Kevin9 first note? lol if we are talking about the root note of the sweep, its the note on the B string pretty much xD but if its figuring out the first note of the sweep (like pitch) i cant help you D:

  • @Darkdevil1584 thats what i meant :P yet im only on my seconde year i dont try and learn stuff by jeff loomis and what not, i usually playstuff by lke all that remains, or as blood runs black, something i realised not to long ago was i have o start getting used to switching the way ihold my pick while staying focused on the song, (for sweeping and other techniques i hold it differently for every technique pretty much .like open hand form for chords, proper form for fast tremolo andwhat not, fo

  • @Curious6Kevin9 well.. if you are going to compose.. just add a bullshit whole note (long note) and switch your pick before switching into sweeps :0 or whatever lmao its generaly what i do.. but my pick is VERY specific (i use sand paper to make it how i want) so i dont get issues :DD but my pick is made from animal bone.. so it lasts forever also

  • @wintershadows why are you even trying? look at his name, it says "Gibson" in it, so he must be a total ultra-newb :D joke hahaha :D

  • @wintershadows its just that some of us dont "have ear".it takes time to develop them,so we just look for tabs because we have fun playing :D getting things by ear will take quite a while :P

  • @cromaticas

Yeah that part does suck. My advice is just look at the first 3 notes in the arpeggio. The rest should follow suit unless he does some serious changing up of the notes.

  • Comment removed

  • @wintershadows Pretty sure its Eb :O? unless youre going by viewing which it is E but sounds like Eb :P

  • @Spitty33 it's A#, Eb, G#, C#, F#, A#, Eb.

  • @GibsonGuitarist1022 dude i have the tabs

  • @killguns95 Oh wow is there any way you could get them to me please?

  • @GibsonGuitarist1022 you can buy the whole video on guitar worlds website it comes with tabs

  • @GibsonGuitarist1022

if you can't figure it out, you probably shouldn't attempt it yet - start with the smaller ones

  • 7 strings =(

  • All the best arpeggios I have ever heard were played slow. Listen to "Anxious Heart" and "Prelude" for Final Fantasy and hear the musicality. Shredders pay particular attention!

  • why are people talking about synyster gates? they're two different guitarists, with two different styles. Syn has an incredible melodic sense. listen to the solo at the end of Lost. but thats not important, this is a jeff loomis video, listen to him rape that guitar, enjoy and shut the fuck up.

  • What arrpegio is that? anyone knows?

  • where can i find these tabs?

  • @SpezializedDemo8 if you get the dvd, which you can get off ebay for $10, you can download the tabs.

  • @SpezializedDemo8 you don't need tabs for this, it's just a very basic arpeggio that should be easy to learn by ear :)

  • I really really really really really really want a tab of this!

  • I think the universe just exploded.

  • He should buy John Petruccis sun-temperature resisting strings!

  • i try to do this on a mortal 6string!!

  • "just use as warm up"? o.O

  • 0:26 Figure 5B "slow".. okay, now I got the definition of slow! Could he maybe play it in snail-speed then?

Second, why do I read the name Synester Gays here? Dudes, what's up with you? Not only that you bring in a player who has absolutely nothing to to with the style Jeff plays, you bring in a fucking emocore fag into a great great guitar video..

  • Beautiful!

  • master

  • @vanquisher21312 buy the dvd lol

  • he said and ones you've got it done smothly it sounds realy cool

  • FUCK I LOVE HIS GUITAR!

  • @McDonutlicious me toooooooo!

  • 2:02 or 2:03 what dit he say? it sounds he would bark xD

  • @gunsproof "And once you get it down smooth, it sounds really really cool"

Not just cool. Really, really cool.

  • @wintershadows

    really? it sounds weird

  • @gunsproof He said it sound zreally cool..

  • This guy is crazy. I think Synyster could do this..... in 6 years maybe

  • put a halo and toga on that dude...i just found jesus

  • Jeff sweeps so damn good he would make a hell of a janitor.

  • @antimaatter HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @antimaatter LOL. I rarely laugh out loud as hard as I did there. That's a true accomplishment, amen.

  • @antimaatter He would be a master of the custodial arts, dick

  • i want those fingers of his that it hurts my balls

oh and btw you guys are acting like synyster's all about sweeping....when he's not. he's a beastly ass guitarist but he doesnt play bad enough to seem horrible to jeff loomis

  • jeff loomis putss just about every other guitarist on this earth to SHAME!

  • This guy puts Chuck Norris to shame

  • His "slow" is my fast

  • i love how he actually has knowledge about music. not like some players, who just play and have no idea what they are doing

  • i was never really interested in buying a seven string guitar, but now im seriously debating on whether to buy a seven string schecter, or a bitchin six string. please respond with your thoughts on this.

  • sweeps like a janitor

  • haha jeff loomis is so bad ass he uses his whammy bar to do bends at the end. way to get your money outta the floyd rose

  • Anyone who tries to do sweeps like this would automatically burst into flames and be incinerated

  • John Petrucci beats any guitarist listed in the comments.

  • So clean.

  • god does exsist

  • he is a fucking machine!

  • Broderick, Gilbert, Mustaine, Loomis, Laiho, Vai

  • @Rain593 alexi laiho has my respects but he cant compete with some of the other guys on that list. id put batio, satriani, or petrucci on there.

  • @A7Xguitaristx Fuck Batio.

I say Cooley over Batio and Satriani over Petrucci.

Oh, and don't forget Guthrie Govan.

  • @maidenmadness1 Lots of people hate Batio, but you cant really say he doesnt have skill. Rustey cooley is great, i forgot about him. the list wasnt in any particular order

  • @A7Xguitaristx

Haha. I hate Batio. I really really do.

  • @maidenmadness1 truly batio thinks he call himseltf SPEED GUITARIST

well batio YOU BETTER THINK TWICE

  • What scales/arpeggios is he useing?

  • @Guitarfreak365 figure six is e minor, d major, c major, b major i believe

  • I think the sound is kinda trebly, but man, he knows his chops. Shouting fire at the funeral is insaaaaaaaneeeeeee

  • @Mattus1111 Also, longer scaled guitars usually have a little more pronounced high end.

  • Shit Hot.

  • @ChildOFtheVoid don't hold your pick so close to your fingers. show a bit more of the pick

  • Someone watched a frank gambale insructional video....

  • damn he strethes is hand from the 9th to the 14th fret on a damn sweep and still plays it clean

  • check out the psalm of lydia sweeps. thats a 6th to 11th fret stretch on the E, which is a good half inch longer than this one

  • man... he really is one of the best sweepers on the planet. he is ridiciously clean, you can hear every single note!

  • @Darn66647

I know, do you have the devils number, i have a soul for sale :-)

  • how do i sweep the shape back down without my freaking thumb muting out the strings and turning the notes into pinched harms?!?!? i can sweep up fine, but sweeping back down kills me! some help would be appreciated :(

  • use your palm to mute all unused strings, and practice every note slowly and cleanly until you get it down and than keep increasing the speed.

  • god i wish i could sweep like thiss

  • @Mo7Vsta GOD wishes he could sweep like this!

  • 1:12 i must learn that even if it takes the rest of my life due to its difficulty,

  • It took me 1 year to get that fast playing sweeps every day all day

  • WOW.

  • yush can do

    lets have fun, with music

    (Metalocalypse quotes)

  • "Spend a little time down there"

    Love ya Jeff

  • lol, the bad part is, hes gotta 7 string (see headstock) so hes got an advantage, but uh 7 strings are hard to find, and by the way, im ot talking crap, because i adore this dude, hes freakin amzing and shreds incredibly

  • @SuperSc0tt 7 strings arent hard to find at all...their really common these days

  • I've got a 7 string...wasn't hard 2 find :P. And its HARDER to sweep on one then a 6 string from my experience.

  • @bastardsofdecent92 than......

  • Yeah, I suck at grammar XD but what I said still means the same thing really.

  • you can convert this sequence for a 6 string, but it requires a tap and some extra stretching on the other end of the arpeggio.

  • @tsirosgoddammit

ehm... That would be ALOT of stretching

  • I love when people want to talk about players like synester gates like they're gods. I mean hes good but guys like this just make him look horrible.

  • @rckr68 Synyster Gates a God?!?!? ahahhahahahaahahahhahaahhahahahaahhaahahhhahahaahhaahhahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaahahahhahahahhahahahhaahhaahah

  • @CoolKwstas123 lol hes a fuckin false god

  • @rckr68

true lol, synester gates sucks compared to jeff!

  • @rckr68 actually, believe it or not, theres guys that make loomis look horrible. go watch guthrie govan vids. the guys plays complicated jazz shred fusion lines at 16 notes per second and hes not even a shredder. hes extremely soulful. amazing phrasing. if you go on his site, you can see a quote from loomis about guthrie's album!

  • @ShredFever92 I completly disagree. I think loomis pwns Govan but thats just opinion dude. but he definetly doesnt make loomis look bad. As loomis makes synister gates look bad.

  • @Jessegrr420 every one makes synister look bad haha

  • Honestly This guy is a god! And the best part is he doesnt care if he goes mainstream or not. he is a true influence am I right?

  • ridikuluss

  • def. one of the best if not the best guitarist in the world, i was right in making him my inspiration for playing guitar

  • I want that guitar so bad that it hurts my balls.

  • same for me dude :P !!!

  • i was going to get one but didn't have enough money. I got an ibenze 7 string instead.

  • @BillXHETASXCook

wow.. maybe theres a lump on your balls

  • @BillXHETASXCook dude i want his BLACK version SO BAD it hurts MY BALLS

  • @BillXHETASXCook i fuckin know...i'm saving up for it...it's 1000....i'm an esp/ltd guy usually but as far as seven strings go they don't offer much...and schecter are pretty ballin'...and it's gnarly as fuck

  • @kickingkrank I'm the same wqay dude, I love my MH400, but I would save for years for that guitar. Seriously, no matter how much it costs, I'll wait all of my life for it to put itself ever so gently in my loving hands.
