Obama will do to the United States, what other black "leaders" like Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe or Nelson Mandela of South Africa. Those countries completely collapsed politically and economically. If anyone feels my comparison of Obama to those black leaders is unfair, then we need only look at what American black leaders have done wherever they were in charge: David Dinkins was New York City's first black mayor, and he presided over the worst crime rate and city economy in the nation's history.

a cynical and extreme viewpoint is not always progressive. i can appreciate the desire to get out of iraq, but you must realize that we have destroyed their entire infrastructure. to leave right now would leave the nation in chaos and be a truly henious (heinous?) crime. suggesting that there is a candidate who can get us out of iraq easily is the REAL disservice to the american people.
You seem to think that we somehow need military forces in Iraq to rebuild there country. What do you want soldiers to do? Build houses? Direct Traffic? Police the Country? That is not their job.

Just what has Hillary done to get all this hate ,she is in reality a hard working woman and smart .Like Yoko Ono she did not break up the Beatles,I don't get it ,any one is better then Bush , his plan to attack Iraq was in the works before he was elected , that was in his own words in the Houston Chronicle, taped by a friend of the family that wrote Sr. Bush Memoirs.
I am now no longer a member of Moveon and I suggest anyone else reading this to drop out with me. They've fallen to nothing more than partisan hacks only concerned with taking down Republicans but not always what's best for the country.
Yet people look at Gravel funny when he proposes the Fair Tax, which is greener and would reduce consumption more than the other Democrats could ever dream.
What makes anyone a "fringe" candidate? Because the media says so? Because the media doesn't give them the same time or attention as the "real" candidates?
That's garbage. What's best for the country isn't partisan hackery. It's supporting the system where all candidates are given a fair shot and the one with the best ideas are elected regardless of party.
With Mr. Gravel in the general election in November, I think this election may be about two opposing forces: fantasy and lies versus truth and reality. More smoke and mirrors or what is real. Continued environmental destruction or environmental conservation and restoration. More despair or more hope. More sorrow or more joy. More poverty or more economic creativity and innovation. More serfdom or more equality. Each of us will decide. Thank you for staying in the race, Mr. Gravel.
I invite all of MoveOn's members to join Representative Press, subscribe, join the mailing list and if they could, donate so that at least there will be an organization with some degree of power an influence which actually that represents the people.
If the crime is excluding Gravel and Focusing on the 2 major Democratic Candidates (who will most likely make president), Why aren't you making a fuzz about everyone else who has already done it?
They claim to be a progressive org, but they support two corp whores. Neither will beat the Repubs, because they are phony. People have to right to know who all of the choices are, not ones someone selects for them, now if you like fascism that is too bad, the rest of us are fighting too save democracy. YOU GOT IT.
The way I see it: The Republican party was co-opted by the neo-cons. The Democrats by the Clintons or the New Democrats. So now we have two corporate parties. One appeals to the wealthy (tax cuts), the other to the not-so-wealthy (benefits). Since both are financed by the wealthy, people are being given false choices by mainstream candidates. Those candidates are bought and sold. Mike Gravel tells the truth, wants to empower people with National Initiative and truly values human lives.
MoveOn is doing a good job, and is a part of the "progressive" movement, not unlike representative press in my view. Maybe MoveOn are a little bit more realistic on who's gonna beat McCain.
It's a direct hit. I did some volunteer work for them and they didn't tell the truth to volunteers about what work was to be done. We ended up doing something other than was advertised. I complained and heard nothing. They're not getting my money. And if they're so progressive, what happened to impeachment and why has this country OCCUPIED another for almost five years!
MoveOn is basically like the Christian Right; they'll support a candidate not because that candidate agrees the most with them but because they think that candidate has the best chance of getting elected.
I had e-mailed Move On and this was their rational for pretending he didn't exist:
"As we have tracked our member's preferences over the year, Senator Gravel has never risen above a couple percentage points at any time. That, combined with the fact that he is only on the ballot in 20 states, made it obvious that MoveOn members are only considering between the two remaining national candidates.
We very much respect Senator Gravel and his lifetime of commitment to public service."
He says he opposes the Iraq war and troops will be removed, but he then says that he will keep troops there to protect the embassy and do operations on al qaeda in the area.
Is that not double speak?
He will probably move the troops from Iraq straight into Iran or Syria.
I would think whoever the dems select would be better than clinton or obama. The country IS still racist, is still sexist, and is still more intollerant than ever. If the dems picked ANY WHITE MAN as their rep he would do better in the General election. But the republicans have destroyed their hardline christian base. so they have NO chance whatso ever with their lack-luster canidates.
Gravel and Paul are the best candidates for the respective parties, but the party establisments are more interested in maintaining the power structure than doing what's best for the country.
The Establishment is too entrenched for either of these men to make a difference if they did win, and neither will win their primaries because they don't tow the party lines.
MoveOn is simply a funding machine for the neo-socialist movement, and I was wondering when democrats would start noticing that.
Nader I can understand, but voting for someone who is not running is a waste of time and a vote. If your hoping he will get back in, forget it. He pulled this in 04 as well, by selling his supporters to Edwards
nowellian, I understand what you are saying. But Gravel's sales tax plan is progressive, with "rebate" to reimburse taxpayers of lower incomes. Gravel hs said he will let the people decide policies so I am not hot on the national sales tax either and we can oppose it. I think we can work out a more progressive tax system and Gravel says he will put the power in the people's hands and he already has made it clear that he supports a progressive system.
It's disgusting how the Democratic party has become a pimp to secure the "woman" vote (Clinton), the "black" vote (Obama) and the "poor people" (Edwards) vote. Meanwhile, neither of the two media/party endorsed remaining candidates will help either women, children, minorities or poor people once in power. Mike Gravel will. He was the first candidate the Democratic party abandoned!
Obama and Clinton will just continue as Bush has they answer to the same masters who remain invisible to public scrutiny. They are the same power brokers trying to make Mike Gravel invisible to the public.Power and money currupts even at the highest levels of office. That threatens the end of true democracy.
im tellin u the succsess of the surge is a manufactured one, its really designed to make u feel more secure with the up coming war with iran, the democrats winning the presidency is a similar principal, but the fact is there isnt a two party system, there is only one with one agenda.
representativepress, i'm disappointed in you. First Kuchinich, then Edwards, and now Gravel. Out of all the truth candidates Ron Paul is the only one who even has a shot! Why can't you support him? The Democrats have a lock on either Obama or Hilary and its IMPOSSIBLE for anyone else from the party to win. Vote for Ron Paul he's your best shot at getting someone who's honest and has integrity into the White House.
No, he was for Kucinich then Gravel. He stated that Edwards was the best of the top three. If you were to vote for the one who had the best chance than Paul wouldn't be the choice for you. I am guessing you are voting for principle as well and so are we.
People talk about how important it is to get a Democrat in the white house... Good that did when we took over the Senate and Nancy Pelosi became speaker of the house. People are falling for the same BS again and this time the Military Industral Complex is pumping the most money into Hillary and Obamas campaign. As for Ron Paul there is no change there, he will still work in a broken system of Government. Mike Gravel is the only REAL choice for change this election. Gravel 08!
RP, You continue to do great work. Every time I see one of your new videos I just wish that more people would read them and less people would rely on the MSM for their information. I've been a Gravel supporter since way before the first debates this past year, but I can't help but say that I want to believe in Obama. I'm voting for Gravel in the primary and I'm telling people about Gravel, but I can't help wanting to believe in Obama. Thanks again for the info.
They understand something you don't. Reality. Sometimes the lesser of evils is still pretty ok. I disagree with you, but I respect you. The next pres will be either Obama, Clinton, McCain, or (maybe) Romney. Assuming only those choices whom do you choose? That's right. Obama. Don't bite off your nose to spite your face.
Problem is - when was the last time a third party candidate was elected? Right? The United States should not limit itself to such singular representation, in my view. If Nader was to run, I would back him all the way. Paul, Nader, Kucinich, Gravel - these are the people who deserve to be in positions of influence.
If in fact it is Obama I won't be too upset because although he is undermined by his establishment background he's better than Hillary or McCain...that's not saying much, of course.
To be honest, I'm glad that there are enough people who are fighting against this nomination in an intelligent way and supporting Paul and Gravel and (EX) Kucinich - it shows that there is a lot more political awareness than the US is being given credit for ultimately.
And your kind of apathy is what is destroying this country. Let ask you something. MR. I VOTE FOR THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS, HOW WILL YOU FEEL IF THESE TWO CORPORATE WHORES TAKE YOU INTO WAR WITH IRAN? you will probably be another one of these whining worthless pathetic demapussies.
that's just it truthout911. only one of those two whores will get us into war with iran. if you can't see the difference between obama and clinton than you need your political glasses checked.
Lets see now, Obama wants to expand the military, and his foreign policy views are aligned with Mitt Romney and does not want to take military options off the table. As representativepress points out here. So its you who needs glasses. Gravel will not take us to war. Obama in a phony effort to reach across the aisle will let the military industrial complex influence him.
Yes, he said on the stump that he wants to "rebuild "the military. We need to downsize the military not the Department of Education. Also, said on the stump: "When I send troops into battle..." Our land mass is between Mexico and Canada. We have nuclear weapons. I want to know why this nation has 25 million veterans and why we can't seem to refrain from war...
Representive press, isnt funny how so called progressives and dems are their own worst enemies of a true progressive movement. Orgs like MoveOn, Democracy underground, DNC. Phony ass progressive talk show host like Thom Hartman, Randi Rhodes, Ed Shultz, Bill Press, Rachel Maddow. No wonder Gravel cant gain.
You are a very interactive video maker with good views and good finds. keep making videos, I'll keep watching, and I'll keep commenting. Mike IS the man and you know this. But, I may vote for Ron Paul. Don't dislike me, I just know that while Mike will do a 100% job, Ron will do an 80%. Hillary - 8% and Obama - 10% everyone else isn't even on my radar except Mccain, reaching a whopping 3%.
I think you're being a little too generous placing McCain at such a high caliber. My list would be akin to yours, but: (included sequestered persons) Mike Gravel Dennis Kucinich Ron Paul - - - - Obama.. Ah fuck that, the remaining are absolutely abominable!
I would put Kucinich if he was still running. I hope he gets reelected to congress.
I just made a list of best to worst, not people I would vote for. Everyone from McCain on down can go and take a run and jump except for Huckabee, who's a hell of a nice guy and a hell of a bad politician.
I made the list so I could put Romney and Clinton at them bottom. If it ends up with those two as the candidates then well, "Won't you please come to Chicago just to sing."
If you're a progressive then I'd would not suggest voting for RP. I am a RP supporter, but it would be dishonest of me to say that the man is a progressive. Libertarian and libertarian leaning conservatives and constiutionalists are the antithesis of progressives. We don't believe in larger government and the imposition of ideas over the entire country. We also view neocons as merely progressives on steroids (read a history of the progressive movement; they started out pro-war).
We also reject the idea of more democracy because democracy in and of itself is not a positive; it is merely tyranny of the majority " Democracy is three wolves and one sheep deciding what to have for dinner" = Ben Franklin.
If 20 people look under the hood of a car and 15 determine that the problem can be fixed by adding water to the radiator, that's not tyranny. We've never had a true democracy in this country. We've only had a tyranny of the elite imposed on the majority so far. I want to try democracy.
Please provide sources for last sentence. Just because Wolfowitz was initially a democrat under Scoop Jackson and hasn't changed his party affiliation doesn't mean you can pawn off the neo-cons on the progressive movement! If you make this kind of statement, please back it up. What history? I view neocons as Department of Defense/military employees on group think without any fresh air since WWII. Wars are a great job justification for those people and for the defense contractors.
Right on! He has made a killing in money from donors, and all he does is leading all democrats around in circles. MoveOn and Progressive Democrats where both set up by Soros.
wait is that not the people that came up with gen betray us sounds like a bunch of neocon turn coats to me what did we use to call them ohh ya benadic arnolds seems like i know another arnold that hates truth and liberty also...keep them coming representive press because i'll be back ...hahahahahahaha
It's not really MoveOn's fault that Americans are idiots, and can't even muster support for one progressive candidate. What point would there be in endorsing Gravel at this point? He's obviously not going to win the nomination.
CadicusTheDamned, what the hell are you talking about? You can rely on mainstream media for your info, they obviously have put some seriously screwed up ideas into your head. "take them out" what are you a mafia gangster? ANd the Iranians are NOT "batshit insane" so STOP spreading war propaganda.

Ok, I will.
BTW: I am not Jewish, but I am a supporter of Israel. If you start spouting a bunch of bullshit about evil Zionists, I'm going to write you off as a sycophant to Al-Taqiyya propaganda.
The president of Iran is largely a ceremonial position although he can introduce economic reforms. Only the Supreme leader can declare war with clearance from the Guardian council. The supreme leader tried to get Bush to broker a peace deal with Israel in 2003. You want to blow up a whole country to take out one idiot that is no threat to anyone?
yes MoveOn is disgusting. they are willing to prolong an illegal war and are willing to risk another war that could very well turn int WWIII which I on't know about others but haven't people heard that WWIII might not even be survivable?
I agree with this video. The only way a normal american can do battle with the elites from corpamerica is with INFORMATION. retoric is propaganda is brainwashing. Yes we will go to war. yes the middle class will be destroyed. but take comfort that after we are all slaves to big brother and have 666 tatooed on our heads/hands that at least our brains will be destroyed. and we won't feel it. because if your brain is still working they will just have a robot kill you. YES. ROBOCIDE!
"they will just have a robot kill you. YES. ROBOCIDE!" - unixaaron
Psst, anything before "-cide" means the killing of that thing or person. For example, "homicide" = "killing a human" and "fratricide" = "killing a brother". Therefore, "robocide", were it a word, would mean "killing a robot".
Good! Maybe they will get the message. I also found a survey on their site and told them I expected something different from a so-called progressive organization.
I'm just stupid, so don't pay any attention to me: threats against Iran have nothing to do with Iran per se, and everything to do with the Shia in Iraq (keeping them temporarily quiescent), and with cozying up to Saudi Arabia, and even promoting a Saudi/Israel alliance in the region. The Shia factor is the proximal one. Meanwhile Afganistan/Pakistan is a tinderbox.
wintersdemise, they didn't even do candidate profiles this time. I noticed they had a poll a while back in which Edwards had won. I am sure teh people at MoveOn didn't like that so they sat on their asses without doing any more polls for potential endorsements until AFTER Edwards dropped out.
I knew MoveOn was a fraud for a awhile now. They didn't cover Kuciniches lawsuit against NBC. Didn't even have an interview with Mike Gravel before the first debate began. I still get the E-mail, and when they sent me the ballad, I wrote Mike Gravel in.
i thought gravel dropped out?whether you like a candidate or not doesn't matter, they should all be allotted the same coverage and time.i want the best not the most popular.
Yeah, the press keeps saying Gravel isn't running anymore. Is this the legal precedent set by Fox in their Monsanto case - News organizations have no obligation to tell the truth?
It takes some work to find out who he is cause he runs that empty populist campaign (which I hate) but it looks like he's one of the best candidates...

Gravel.

Move on needs to be REPLACED with a real progressive organization. Who is starting it?
gravelin08 4 years ago
I invite all of MoveOn's members to join Representative Press, subscribe, join the mailing list and if they could, donate so that at least there will be an organization with some degree of power an influence which actually that represents the people.
representativepress 4 years ago
so... what is MoveOn's crime here exactly?
If the crime is excluding Gravel and Focusing on the 2 major Democratic Candidates (who will most likely make president), Why aren't you making a fuzz about everyone else who has already done it?
what's your real motive to move against MoveOn?
jliira 4 years ago
They claim to be a progressive org, but they support two corp whores. Neither will beat the Repubs, because they are phony. People have to right to know who all of the choices are, not ones someone selects for them, now if you like fascism that is too bad, the rest of us are fighting too save democracy. YOU GOT IT.
truthout911 4 years ago
The way I see it: The Republican party was co-opted by the neo-cons. The Democrats by the Clintons or the New Democrats. So now we have two corporate parties. One appeals to the wealthy (tax cuts), the other to the not-so-wealthy (benefits). Since both are financed by the wealthy, people are being given false choices by mainstream candidates. Those candidates are bought and sold. Mike Gravel tells the truth, wants to empower people with National Initiative and truly values human lives.

what about we all join, kucinich, gravel and ron paul supporters, all together, and unite to fight the GLOBAL ELITE.

MoveOn is doing a good job, and is a part of the "progressive" movement, not unlike representative press in my view. Maybe MoveOn are a little bit more realistic on who's gonna beat McCain.

jliira 4 years ago
It's a direct hit. I did some volunteer work for them and they didn't tell the truth to volunteers about what work was to be done. We ended up doing something other than was advertised. I complained and heard nothing. They're not getting my money. And if they're so progressive, what happened to impeachment and why has this country OCCUPIED another for almost five years!
gravelin08 4 years ago
MoveOn is basically like the Christian Right; they'll support a candidate not because that candidate agrees the most with them but because they think that candidate has the best chance of getting elected.
murphycline 4 years ago
why is there a mccain ad attached to this video?
TyredUvBS 4 years ago
I had e-mailed Move On and this was their rational for pretending he didn't exist:
"As we have tracked our member's preferences over the year, Senator Gravel has never risen above a couple percentage points at any time. That, combined with the fact that he is only on the ballot in 20 states, made it obvious that MoveOn members are only considering between the two remaining national candidates.
We very much respect Senator Gravel and his lifetime of commitment to public service."

Obama is a liar.
He says he opposes the Iraq war and troops will be removed, but he then says that he will keep troops there to protect the embassy and do operations on al qaeda in the area.
Is that not double speak?
He will probably move the troops from Iraq straight into Iran or Syria.

3star2nr, what a strange assertion I think Gravel would stand a BETTER chance of winning in the general election than Obama and Hillary.
representativepress 4 years ago
I would think whoever the dems select would be better than clinton or obama. The country IS still racist, is still sexist, and is still more intollerant than ever. If the dems picked ANY WHITE MAN as their rep he would do better in the General election. But the republicans have destroyed their hardline christian base. so they have NO chance whatso ever with their lack-luster canidates.
unixaaron 4 years ago
Gravel and Paul are the best candidates for the respective parties, but the party establisments are more interested in maintaining the power structure than doing what's best for the country.
The Establishment is too entrenched for either of these men to make a difference if they did win, and neither will win their primaries because they don't tow the party lines.
MoveOn is simply a funding machine for the neo-socialist movement, and I was wondering when democrats would start noticing that.

Gravel/Paul are for a national sales tax, which i oppose. I favor a progressive income tax and the top rate needs to be increased greatly!
Top 5% have more wealth than the bottom 180 million Americans - Tax the Rich!!
Clinton/Obama continue to vote to fund the war and are pushing the republican health care plan developed by Romney!
I support Ralph Nader for president since Kucinich is out!
I will vote Kucinich on Super Tuesday and support Nader in November!
No corporatists!
nowellian 4 years ago
Nader I can understand, but voting for someone who is not running is a waste of time and a vote. If your hoping he will get back in, forget it. He pulled this in 04 as well, by selling his supporters to Edwards
truthout911 4 years ago 2
nowellian, I understand what you are saying. But Gravel's sales tax plan is progressive, with "rebate" to reimburse taxpayers of lower incomes. Gravel hs said he will let the people decide policies so I am not hot on the national sales tax either and we can oppose it. I think we can work out a more progressive tax system and Gravel says he will put the power in the people's hands and he already has made it clear that he supports a progressive system.
representativepress 4 years ago
It's disgusting how the Democratic party has become a pimp to secure the "woman" vote (Clinton), the "black" vote (Obama) and the "poor people" (Edwards) vote. Meanwhile, neither of the two media/party endorsed remaining candidates will help either women, children, minorities or poor people once in power. Mike Gravel will. He was the first candidate the Democratic party abandoned!

The Democrats have a lock on either Obama or Hilary and its IMPOSSIBLE for anyone else from the party to win. Vote for Ron Paul he's your best shot at getting someone who's honest and has integrity into the White House.
jestyrs 4 years ago

Thanks again for the info.
xthexlanternx 4 years ago
They understand something you don't. Reality. Sometimes the lesser of evils is still pretty ok. I disagree with you, but I respect you. The next pres will be either Obama, Clinton, McCain, or (maybe) Romney. Assuming only those choices whom do you choose? That's right. Obama. Don't bite off your nose to spite your face.
qtonic 4 years ago
qtonic, never say never. there are such things as third parties and it is a long time before the general election.
representativepress 4 years ago
Problem is - when was the last time a third party candidate was elected? Right? The United States should not limit itself to such singular representation, in my view. If Nader was to run, I would back him all the way. Paul, Nader, Kucinich, Gravel - these are the people who deserve to be in positions of influence.
m1ndz00 4 years ago 2
Yup!,..3rd parties have a great track record, don't they?
genie0390 4 years ago
It's ridiculous that you are limited to two party candidacies. What the hell is that about?? There are more opinions than there are candidates...
m1ndz00 4 years ago 2
If in fact it is Obama I won't be too upset because although he is undermined by his establishment background he's better than Hillary or McCain...that's not saying much, of course.
To be honest, I'm glad that there are enough people who are fighting against this nomination in an intelligent way and supporting Paul and Gravel and (EX) Kucinich - it shows that there is a lot more political awareness than the US is being given credit for ultimately.
Obama has potential but he has been subverted.
m1ndz00 4 years ago
And your kind of apathy is what is destroying this country. Let ask you something. MR. I VOTE FOR THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS, HOW WILL YOU FEEL IF THESE TWO CORPORATE WHORES TAKE YOU INTO WAR WITH IRAN? you will probably be another one of these whining worthless pathetic demapussies.
truthout911 4 years ago
that's just it truthout911. only one of those two whores will get us into war with iran. if you can't see the difference between obama and clinton than you need your political glasses checked.
qtonic 4 years ago
lol, care to explain the difference? didn't think so.
Vektor417 4 years ago
Lets see now, Obama wants to expand the military, and his foreign policy views are aligned with Mitt Romney and does not want to take military options off the table. As representativepress points out here. So its you who needs glasses. Gravel will not take us to war. Obama in a phony effort to reach across the aisle will let the military industrial complex influence him.
truthout911 4 years ago
Yes, he said on the stump that he wants to "rebuild "the military. We need to downsize the military not the Department of Education. Also, said on the stump: "When I send troops into battle..." It's the opposite of lesser evil. Lesser good that can win. I made a full list of the candidates from best to worst.
Mike Gravel
Ron Paul
Barrack Obama
John McCain
Mike Huckabee
Alan Keyes
Hillary Clinton
Mitt Romney
Sam666gelber 4 years ago
JagArKrig 4 years ago
I would put Kucinich if he was still running. I hope he gets reelected to congress.
I just made a list of best to worst, not people I would vote for. Everyone from McCain on down can go and take a run and jump except for Huckabee, who's a hell of a nice guy and a hell of a bad politician.
I made the list so I could put Romney and Clinton at them bottom. If it ends up with those two as the candidates then well, "Won't you please come to Chicago just to sing."
Sam666gelber 4 years ago
If you're a progressive then I'd would not suggest voting for RP. I am a RP supporter, but it would be dishonest of me to say that the man is a progressive. Libertarian and libertarian leaning conservatives and constiutionalists are the antithesis of progressives. We don't believe in larger government and the imposition of ideas over the entire country. We also view neocons as merely progressives on steroids (read a history of the progressive movement; they started out pro-war).
murphycline 4 years ago
We also reject the idea of more democracy because democracy in and of itself is not a positive; it is merely tyranny of the majority " Democracy is three wolves and one sheep deciding what to have for dinner" = Ben Franklin.
murphycline 4 years ago 3
If 20 people look under the hood of a car and 15 determine that the problem can be fixed by adding water to the radiator, that's not tyranny. We've never had a true democracy in this country. We've only had a tyranny of the elite imposed on the majority so far. I want to try democracy.
gravelin08 4 years ago
Please provide sources for last sentence. Just because Wolfowitz was initially a democrat under Scoop Jackson and hasn't changed his party affiliation doesn't mean you can pawn off the neo-cons on the progressive movement! If you make this kind of statement, please back it up. What history? I view neocons as Department of Defense/military employees on group think without any fresh air since WWII. Wars are a great job justification for those people and for the defense contractors.
