  • wow, what i change..looks great.any chance you could tell me what air pumps you have in the system? thanks...

  • Holy shit! i Found Nemo! and Dori too!!!

  • hi, what are the dimensions? :)

  • cool tank gay songs

  • amazing tank, what kind of lighting is that? i watch many videos on here and see similar effects but i cant seem to get the same kind of thing..im reasonably new to this

  • you need a clean up crew.

  • @Tempdoom and a powerhead or 2

  • you never need to do it this way unless its covering every inch. all you need it to redirect your powerheads, do more water changes, and calm down on the feeding amount. next vacuum the sand bed but don't remove the sand. next use "red slime" by chemiclean and do a waterchange 2 days after dosing and repeat till its all gone.

  • how many gallons is your tank and what are the dimensions

  • so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can i ask what kide of light u have on ur tank i have a 150 gl i love ur light u have on urs

  • ill have to send a reply video to show you how my tank has improved

  • Awesome rebirth man, I bet that customer loved you after that. Did you ever add anymore powerheads? I thought I saw a few pieces of SPS in there but I'm not sure, has the Flame angel cause any problems? I always read they were risky in reef tanks.

  • Very nice dude!

  • Interesting music. Love the way your rockwork is set up!

  • @laugh190 hi dude , you now how call this song?

  • What a change on this tank! So now you have all the proper equipment, phosban reactor,uv sterilzer....?

  • wow, the tank looks much better at the end since we saw the condition it was in before hand. Great job for bringing/turning the tank around.

  • nice fn live rock

  • Hey, my tank isnt as clear as urs its more of a brownish clear colour do you know why? :O

  • where did you hide hoses and things

  • Ive seen a lot of the other tanks on here and yours is still one of my favorites. looks great and not overstocked liked 90% of the others on here. sweet work!

  • outro aquario parabéns pela transformação.

  • how big is this tank?

  • one more question. What do you use to hold the rocks together? as i am trying to use some of your ideas from your tank as it looks awesome

  • thanks for the reply i'll take it into account thanks a lot

    Edward

p.s. you are probably the most helpful person yet

  • @edward1234u

Im glad I could help. Best Regards

  • thanks for the reply

  • hey, my tank has lots of algae in it. red carpet algae on the sand and glass, also hair algae on the rocks.

do i need to lose the live sand by sucking it up or aquascape it to make the circulation better with added wave makers.

    thanks edward

  • @edward1234u

Hey Edward. Your red algae is more likely to be cyanobacteria. This type of bacteria reproduces very fast under the right conditions. Once there you can kill it with certain products like "SLIME" but the problem is not killing it but making sure it stays off. Most of my accounts including this tank have issues because of the amount of nutrients they introduce to the system via too much food, have poor circulation and poor lighting or TOO much lighting.

  • @genettico your tank got sooo much better man congratz it look 10x better now. what did you do to it to fix it?

  • @edward1234u

The Best thing for you to do is to find out what is causing the problem first. As you can rid of it for it to come back in a matter of days. Again, most likely is a combination of the things mentioned above, too much food, lighting and circulation. Try and reduce lighting cycle a bit, reduce feeding a bit, and change circulation a bit. If this helps a bit so then you know you are in the right track. Killing it is not a problem once you know the cause. Good luck to you.

  • @edward1234u

No need to suck the sand. Unless is on a great area, to help you eliminate some of the bacteria. Be careful as to NOT spread it. Also read up a little on diatom blooms as this are sometimes confused with cyanobacteria.

  • @edward1234u Well what he said is true, but chances are its your nitrates, and phosphates. If those are both in check it doesn't matter if you overfeed your aquarium or leave the lights on to long. I would recommend testing those and if those are it then First make sure you have a skimmer, second get a refugium. A phosphate reactor can help too. Always make sure that your using RO/DI for water changes/ top offs too or you'll just be re-introducing both those back into the system. good luck!

  • @edward1234u

Hey buddy, just put together a refugium in your sump.. buy a LED clip light and some Macro algae, leave the light on continuously. got rid of my algae problem in a week or two! (same cyano and hair algae)

    good luck!

  • @edward1234u another way is use activated carbon and replace every 2-4 weeks

  • @edward1234u The best solution is to get red legged hermit crabs the do wonders with cyanobacteria and hair algae

  • @edward1234u well , i had the same problem and i even bought the SLIME to get rid of the red slime but after putting it into the tank the problem came again . i got so fed up that i re-set up the tank . everything 's okay now .

  • @edward1234u both, thats what i did to mine i had a pink birds nets acro that was probably a 3/4 pound colony and you couldn't see it for hair algea aquascape it add more wave makers and get a lawnmower blenny

  • loose the bio balls there no good for saltwater

  • @karsseboomh22

They are actually gone. Bioballs DO have their place in marine aquaria, just not so on a REEF that has a good amount of LR as the nytrifing bacteria gets displaced from the tank, and this amount of aerobic bacteria vs anoxic one creates issues. They are better used on FOWLR systems or fish only systems.

  • Hi, I was wondering how you've had success in keeping a large number of blue green chromis. Twice I've added a group of ten chromis and over the course of 2 weeks I'm left with 2. I feed twice a day and I don't have other aggressive fish.

  • @shutupnumnuts

In most cases they just jump out of the tank or get sucked into the overflows. Make sure your overflows are not the issue here. correct sizing of holes with a lighting eggcrate barrier to avoid them jumping into the overflow and eventually into sump where they could get easily killed by the pumps there. If you do not have a sump, check and see that they do not have a way around the tank to jump to their deaths.

  • @genettico Thanks for the fast reply, I don't have overflows, but I never see any dead bodies, I have a 110 gallon reef and 200+ lbs of live rock. It's been a mystery to me. Are there any other schooling fish that you know of that are really easy to take care of? Anthias maybe? I want firefish but I'm afraid they will jump out of my tank. I have metal halides so I don't want to cover my tank. Thanks a lot for your time.

  • cool x

  • dont like it

  • nice tank i got a 75 gallon with with not as much live rock but building mine up slowly with a similar look to yours ...did you use poxy to stack the live rock...cool looking tank

  • Sweet tank

  • i'm stealing you idea about the pumps in the rockwork..thats a great idea!

  • Wow! Great job reinventing this tank... looks great after :)

  • how many pounds of liverock do you have in ?

  • very sick...you should get more fish....emperor angels or lookdowns best looking fish in the world

  • Beautiful !!! Love it !!!

  • r u comming up with any vids on how the tank looks 2day? im sure most of the 100,000+ veiwers would love 2 c n update .I would, the new arrangement looked really good!....R u still running that wet dry?

  • screw all those haters your tank looks great keep up the good work

  • I like how it's "not all rock" and left room for open swimming..... very nice...

  • beautiful

  • never seen a regal next to a flame angle. beautiful contrast.

  • I've heard that tangs eat hair algea, is it possible for a single tang to eat all that algae? sorry if i am missin formed, in either fish facts or algea. i am new to this hobby and am still waiting for my books to arrive in the mail

  • @dudepros

Some tangs DO eat some hair algae... but most just shy away from it from some reason... If you do happen to get one that found a sweet teeth for it they can definitely clean a good area. I dont know what you mean by "all that algae". If you are referring to the algae in this video...then not. I actually took the rocks out of the tank and the ones affected by the algae I scrubbed with a wired brush and then cleaned them in plain (not tap water) water.

  • @genettico

Tangs do eat those briopsis algae! but not if its infested... You ned to buy cleaning crew like Turbo, astrea, nishi, niritina snails ! they will control that and the tangs will also help! but the snails will work better! Buy like 200-300 snails and they will eat all algae within few weeks... Then if its needed you take some Snails out and give to a friend, so that dont starve! Peace

  • @genettico could i do a shaol of 7 scopas tangs in an300 gallon predator tank

w/loin fish, 3 triggers (gold heart, reatangle humma humma, niger), 2 cat sharks, a golden tail moray, queen angel, gold puffer, spotted sting ray and a pair of maroon clowns???

if not wat is a better specie of tang that will skool and not kill each other and wont get eaten/killed and will eat hair algea

  • @genettico try yellow tangs...worked for me

  • Rather then zip tie your rock which is extremely crazy once in place reefers use reef cement(green sticks. I would assume this tank hasnt been cycled as most this size should. The substrate is you main heart line. why would one be siphoninh nutrients.. Check your sources before giving advise.

  • @astchiefy

Check my sources? hahaha! Before YOU make comments on someone else's videos at least take the time to do some reading, watch the whole video. The tank was a "makeover" as the original owner did not do husbandry as he should have. The tank has been running for several years now, so it has had enough time to cycle. As for eliminating nutrients from your bed....READ ABOUT IT... since you seem to have the time to criticize without knowledge.

  • @astchiefy

Ohh... and I not only Zip tie the rocks.... and adding your puny "green sticks" to hold rocks IS CRAZY... This is used to help hold corals... NOT ROCKS... I would not want one setup done by you.... You are CRAZY if you believe this putty is enough to hold securely 10 to 15pd rocks... So... before YOU give advise... or talk smack.... CHECK YOUR SOURCES>

  • make an update video!!

  • There are so many actual LIES and discrepancies in that article that limits the weight of the same. I understand what they are trying to do, but they are NOT doing it the right way. Stop your lobotomy mentality and make your own path. Stop quoting useless crap and bring on the FACTS with actual backed info, not made up CRAP! Watch your generalities and the way you phrase your sentences. As said before... you should be afraid more of asians eating the reef itself than collectors alone.

  • @genettico

Good job man lol, I totally agree with you, and + I love my tangs <3

  • @konafishlover

Read more information and not just the biased un-researched and non-factual crap you are reading. I did read your puny reference, and it is sad to see that you base your comments with such poor literature. Some things said ARE in fact a reality, but some are just plain garbage and exagerations made to stop people. You stop people with knowledge, not with CRAP. LEARN AND READ! Yes, fish are collected, yes aquarium hobby does not help in most cases.. (most).

  • Fish in tanks do not behave the same as fish who are free. Their life spans are severely shortened in tanksi and in many cases their natural food is replaced artificially. How much is there to learn from the enslavement of fish? Due to fish collecting, beautiful fish from around the world are being imprisoned for the private enjoyment of a few, when left in their ocean homes they will live out their natural lives, breed etc. for many to enjoy.

  • @konafishlover

well... here you are wrong. It might be true if fish are not in a correctly setup enviroment. Fish in captive systems tend to live longer than in the wild. Food might be replaced, but the nutrients needed to make them have a thriving full life have been proven over generations. Enslaved? if that is how you feel. How about you learn what you can learn from "enslaved" fish before making such statements> education goes a long way, read on a little more, then come back and comment!!

  • @konafishlover More aquatic environments are being decimated due to the commercial fishing industry, and some cultures refusal to change their high end sushi menus. America is definitely not the worst offender in this category on a global scale. Ive run plenty of tanks up to 55 gallon and Ive had great success in propogation, so much so that I regularly give away stuff that is outgrowing my tank to friends. Your right tho, tank bred behave differently they have less fear of predators.

  • @konafishlover so then you would say that all pets are enslaved? dogs, cats, birds, fish, ect...?

  • @konafishlover as far as shortened life.... do you think these fish live in a peaceful playground in the wild where they just swim all day long , carefree...... no. they live in a hostile, survival of the fittest , live in fear or be eaten. Reefkeepers pamper their fish, they pay alot of money for these fish and do everything they can to simulate a natural environment and asure the health and well being of their fish . In a captive reef tank the fish can live a relaxed predator free life.

  • @SouthernMahogany .....cont'd Factor that in your equation when you set out to flame people that are only trying to share the beauty and appreciation for our great reef systems...... and more and more fish are being bred and raised in tank and would not even exist if not for the reefkeeper

  • Not cool! Coral reefs are being decimated by fish collectors for aquariums.

Search for "Hawaii Audobon Society " on youtube to learn whats going on.

Aquarium tanks mean death for fish and destruction of our ocean environment.

  • @konafishlover

well... cannot deny this... but the reality of the informational value of reef tanks for people can counter the cons. I myself would have not gone to school for marine biology if it wasnt for that first reef aquarium I saw as a kid. I know use my knowledge to help marine life, and to do so... you need to learn and study about it, and since Im no fish (no gills) the 2nd best alternative to studying marine life is in closed captive systems. Again... you are right..

  • the live rock is attaching each other???if so ,,what are u use to stick it??

    Plz reply...

    NICE TANK : )

  • @KimLegend93

Drill holes around it and zipped tie it!

  • It's much better, than it was, that is for sure. please tell me you didn't put a jillion fish and 8 million different types of coral in it. please? Are the pumps a pain to get at for maintenance? Do you have problems leaving that rock work high and dry when doing waterchanges? Nice camera. (I don't think I'm a total cockhead - but I've been wrong before.) wetweb and the Fenner crew are the place for advice.

  • Very nice awesome!

  • Fantastico! *--------*

  • is all that green stuff some type of macro or is it hair algae?

  • This hobby is full of jews honestly. Try putting up a classified ad for anything from liverock that has been cultured for over a year, coral, fish. Honestly just watch how many jews come out of the woodwork and try to lowball you

  • i watch this all the time

  • how many gallons is your tank?

  • I'm trying to work out why it looks so damn good, I think it is because it looks like it could actually exist on a coral reef, a lot of these other tanks look good - but somehow fake/unrealistic.

You sorta get what I am saying?

  • @michaelmp5 lay off the acid.

  • I like this tank. Looks completely natural. I've gone scuba diving in several places with my family and have come upon several spots where it looks a lot like this. give or take some polyps.

  • Fantastically!

  • why are ALL reef tank enthusiasts COMPLETE cock heads! all im after is some ideas what to do to my tank next, (and yes its been running for 15 years and never had a water change but i FULLY UNDERSTAND the workings of a tank, and water changes are only nessesary if you have a problem with it.

but evryone that posts comments (including the owner of this vid) never says anything nice, its always bitching at people....''awww dude ur phosphate is high'' your algae look yuck! shit like that! BE COOL

  • @shanushole

Im not even dignifying this with an answer... but know you made lots of enemies by your absurd comments. Obviously you do not know me, thus, how can you say I never say anything nice? Be cool? yet you insult the whole reef community? wow... you really know how to "be cool"

  • If you don't setup competition...via coral diversity...your tank will become dominated by one species...drab and boring...stock up fast...good luck

  • A real decent reef tank. Lots of space for the fish to swim. Thats a decent reef setup. An addition of a lemon butterfly fish would make the tank look superb.

  • amazing tank!

  • well done.... I'll cheer to a beautiful reef tank

  • How did you stack the LR? Did you use wires or rods or anything? I need to redo mine. Yours looks really good!

  • this is a nice tanj.

  • would a 10 gallom reef tank be a waste?

  • is that a 150 gallon or 200 gallon tank? Sweet setup BTW

  • looks really nice m8. I love the aquascaping, looks sweet!

  • love those blue chromis

  • very nice tank mate , your flame angel looks phenominal under the new lighting.do u only use 1 powerhead?

  • who sings that first part of that song?????

  • Changing the rockwork and flow was a good idea. However you could also do water changes a little more often and add a few algae grazers, like fox face, lawnmower blenny, emerald crabs, urchins and they all love that stuff. I had some hair algae in my tank (due to phosphates/nitrates and light being on a little too much) and in 2 days after adding a lawn mower blenny and a few more snails it was completely gone. I was like yes lawnmower blenny you are the Sh!te!

  • very nice .... well done... truly great job..

  • :D very nice, what a difference. love your rock set up, did you just stack them or used putty?

  • I love the song - and that tank looks sweet when it done right - well played,

  • how do u stack the rocks like that in the middle of the tank

  • Does lighting matter if I dont bother with corals?

  • @ollieflp

Nope. You can use some cheap fixture just to create the day/night cycle for the fishies but no need for light other than ambient light.

  • @genettico Nice onr should be able to start my own nano reef soon then cheers.

  • @ollieflp no not very urgent

buy they do give the best

    results in colour as when

    i up,graded to arcadia series 3

halide unit 3 times 250,ww bulbs

boy it brought the colours out at

there highst standard, so go for one

    1000% recomended

  • @ollieflp

  • @ollieflp Check out saltaquarium.about.com

  • awesome

  • Check out TheExoticFish . Com

Lol... Definately the place to go if you want mediocre advice and to rely on poor moderation. Sucks to see you feel the need to plug your place here. I wont remove it. I want people to find your place and to later (not soo much) realize how poor and irresponsible sometimes the advice given in your site is. Now.... if you really want some great places, go to :

    Wetwebmedia

    reefcentral

  • @genettico This guy knows what he's talking about. Reef Central and Wet Web are great places to get incredible advice. I also like Reef2Reef.

  • Buitifull *sniffle*

  • haha the after shot is sick! nice tank, im trying to get started with a 55, any advice? do i really need a pound of rock per gallon??

  • very nice!

  • Great set up. Love the aftermath. the tank really looks great after the cleaning. What flitration and skimmer are you using, if you don't mind my asking? And how many power heads would you recomend for a 55 gallon to keep constant flow....??

  • What a grat job you've done!!! congrats! Keep on the good work!

  • I though, ugh, that tank doesn't look good at all!

Then you cut to the new version of the tank. Fantastic! Love it, looks great!

  • very nie rockwork! I love it :) btw is your tank made up of starfire glass? It looks really clear

  • hi, its very nice.... i would like tu ask u some questions, what is the length width and height of your this aquarium? what pump do u have in display? what equipments do u use? i want to do a reef aquiariom just like this one can you give me same tips? sorry about my english.. thanks

  • hi, its very nice.... i would like tu ask u some questions, what is the length width and height of your this aquarium? what pump do u have in display? what equipments do u use? i want to do a reef aquiariom just like this one can you give me same tips? sorry about my english.. thanks

  • nice turn around on the tank!

  • one of the nicest tanks ive seen

  • Nice video, good songs too. I like the change ..new song+new tank = : )

  • the name of the song is jack johnson - smoke city - underwater love.

    beautiful aquarium!!!

  • Love it... You did a great job, fixing that tank.....=)

wonderful selection of fish and i liked the first song sounded like portuguese

  • i dream of having something like this ..i realy admire your tank great job!!! It is amazing i LOve it !

  • Great job! it is very nice. It is nice to see that kind of transformation. Good job eliminating the green algae.

  • What's the name of the song?

  • This is a beautiful tank, I hope someday to achieve this once I master freshwater and buy a bigger house lol ^^

  • cool tank mate? good work!

  • lol at the lighthouse goby being a loner :D

  • whats the name of the first song?, AMAZING TANK! gratz!

  • dude nice tank with that rock stacking at the emd this would make a great sps tank is that what u plan on running?

  • Im also curious about what @unttrmptplyr asked about the support for the live rock structure.

  • My tank is cycling now...how often should I do water changes? 10% once a month?

  • did you use anything to support the live rock structures or are they just well placed on each other?
