  • @ShadowRaver

    How is he ill informed?

    It is a well-known fact that MS began making software exclusively for the original Macintosh so they could get their hands on the beta software and copy it for their secret new OS, which was later named Windows.

    It was buggy as hell and nearly unusable until version 3.1, but MS went to the bank since all they had IBM and other manufacturers ready to hop on board in an attempt to catch up with Apple.

  • @bluesdealer No it's not. That's not true at all. Tell me where you read this?

  • Ok so Mac is saying it's better cuz it's able to use something designed for PC's? ...

  • @ShadowRaver Office was originally for Macintosh. Windows only came into existence so that Office could be ported to PCs.

  • @mikikaoru lmao, god you're so ill informed.

  • This is actually based on UK Office Posse

  • Orange = Power Point

    Purple = Access

    Green = Excel

  • The thing I don't like about the japanese PC against the US PC, is that the first, seems TOO YOUNG and NOT SO SERIOUS like the US one :(

    But their humor is GREAT!

  • @claunia Too young? Are you kidding me? The guy playing mac is years older than justin long and the guy playing pc is only 2 year younger than John Hodgman!

  • I LOVE microsoft offices' expressions when PCs telling them to come back to work ! :D

  • I love how the message of this ad is "Apple: we're not worse than a PC" :D

  • Wow that was really cool how the Microsoft Office people donned the colors that resemble the application programs in MS Office.

  • I like these japanese ones better.

  • lol

    i think microsoft office would look better in Macs...

  • Mac and Microsoft Office are proper nouns (not to mention trademarks) so it sort of makes sense. PC is always called pasokon though, which is a common Japanese term shortened from PERSOnal COMputer.

  • @mikikaoru Yes, like in マク、パソコン&マイクロソフトオフィス。

    Romanized as Maku (Mac), Pasokon (PC) and Maikurosofuto Ofisu (Microsoft Office).

  • you obviously don't speak another language. That' just the name of the product it has no literal translation for it will make no sense. I speak Japanese and Spanish and 99% of products are called as they were named. When you say Honda or Toyota you are speaking in Japanese. Ferrari=Italian, San Francisco= Spanish, and so on.

  • They're just read in Katakana.

  • F(u)erari, SSanfuranshisuko, etc.

    Proper nouns, consermer items, etc. are almost invariably transliterated into kana readings when brought into Japanese. This means that the word that is being emulated is brought to the closest naturally-flowing form in Japanese... some words more difficult than others, obviously (PERSOnal COMputer: PERSO becomes PASO instead of PERUSO, and COM becomes KON instead of KOMU. Or, frightfully, it would become PERUSONARUKOMUPYUUTARU, which just sounds horrid.)

  • It's transliterated into kana first, then shortened...not the other way around.

  • Fine, パソコン then. 8|

  • ^_-

  • @newschannel Samsung is Korean and the name means "three stars" but we don't say the Three Star Galaxy S, we say the Samsung Galaxy S.

  • it is a bit hard to understand the meanings...

  • Is this telling us that Macs don't actually do anything productive even when you ask them to? I think Apple are shooting themselves in the foot with their "Macs are only for fun, not boring work stuff" approach.

  • No, quite the opposite - PC thinks that Mac and Office are playing a joke on him, because Office is clearly a "serious work" package it couldn't possibly work on a Mac. Office for Mac isn't going to take orders from PC though.

  • "Zaaaannnn-gyo! Zaaaannnn-gyo!" XD
