So odd - I first knew Miserlou as an Isreali dance, when I was in a travelling folkdance troupe, when I was a little girl. And get older, to find out that it's seen as this strange, delicious lounge special! I heard it as this ponderous slow, building-up-steam sort of song with strong male vocals, yet this new speed to it is growing on me!

Absolutely awesome. Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. I sent Fin a message ten minutes ago for a cover suggestion for you guys. Thanks for rocking that shit!
Maybe people already know this but the song Miserlou, before Dick Dale covered it, sounded middle eastern like this here cover. I'm not sure but it may have been middle eastern to begin with...
If I may be so bold. Strange suggestions perhaps but I think they will suit you once you find the right songs.
I must say I admire you guys alot and you've inspired me to pick up the uke aswell. Keep it going! I really love what you're doing and I speak Dutch so the Belgian documentary was quite fun for me to watch!
lol that's silly, miserlou it's because you people read misirlou as MISAIRLU and miserlou as MISIRLU which is the correct accent in greece.... i wonder how far will i be explaining this
This is actually AMAZING. I prefer it over the original! I want this as an MP3! LOVE IT. Auto-subcription!

Beastie Boys (no sleep till brooklyn)
Daft Punk (one more time)
Rancid (LA River)
If I may be so bold. Strange suggestions perhaps but I think they will suit you once you find the right songs.

MisIrlou is the greek version, MisErlou is the Dick Dale version, rewritten to fit on one string.

lol that's silly, miserlou it's because you people read misirlou as MISAIRLU and miserlou as MISIRLU which is the correct accent in greece.... i wonder how far will i be explaining this
gtaivpc 2 years ago
Not further than this, since I will admit that I had it wrong in the first place.
Although you should check that Wikipedia article, because the explanation you're giving for the small change in the name doesn't make any sense.
And "you people" sounds a bit degrading, I've had ancient greek in school for over three years and I doubt I would pronounce the word wrong.
I admit I was wrong about it originally being from surfgod Dick Dale, but you could state that in a normal way too.
anneloeskrul 2 years ago
By you people I meant english speakers. and the caps are the exact pronunciation. okay don't reply to that please, i don't wanna continue it
