But in real life radiation doesnt mutate you like that, it just kills you. So really they're being more realistic (and more original) by making up their own reason.

well not exactly there have been reports of mutations in the local fana mostly in the bird popluation such as albinoism that may not seem much but that is 10 or 20 miles from cordon {entrince} or least thats what i think it is called but who knows what mutants are like in the cpp power plant or whats left i wish we could get to the center without frying our're balls off by rads

Well you can get very close to the powerplant, but you ought to get the hell out of there after a little while otherwise you might die. And it's not really too much mutation of the animals, it's rather that they have evolved to mange to live in the area around Chernobyl, without getting killed by radiation. But yeah, theres probably some mutation of some of the species around there which isn't the animals own choice.

Is it really old? I can't remember the motto 'Man made hell' at that time, I think even it was still called Oblivion Lost. Correct me if I'm wrong ;)

1. The mentioned motto was already used in some trailers of 2004, but did not attract the broad public attention yet. First with the beginning of the advertisement campaign (~half year before the release) the responsible PR-people gave the slogan more importance and started to use it all along.
