Loads of people have been saying the angel wasn't very nice... why should an angel be nice to a devil anyway? If the angel had been nice to the devil it would have been condoning his evil deeds, besides he did help the devil several times, but the devil rejected his offer of help each time. In the end the devil got what was coming to him.

Also... isn't it the angel's prerogative to make sure the devil couldn't get up to any more tricks?

Ya know, this is sorta like showing how to not judge a book by the cover. Sure, the demon tried to play a trick on the angel, but the angel was the one who did more damage than the demon. He just stood there, laughing when the demon needed help, then when the demon did get the candy, the angel pulled the plug of the machine, and not only squished him, he also stole his candy. This makes the angel worse than the demon, as he could have killed him, while the demon just tried a practical joke.
