  • Where the sound of the guns doesn't pound in your ears / Anymore...

  • WONDERFULL!!! There's a LOST HORIZON in a human heart ... reach it is just open to SUN LIGHT, to pace, love, hapiness....

  • the music is still alive, im 51 , and found it again, and its still great

  • i was in first yr high school when this song was a hit..our teacher in English (he passed away) told us to memorize this,so we did and until now,we get to love this very nice song..now,im 50 but i still love to hear this..thanks to Youtube..

  • Shawn Phillips and Keith (98.6) should get together , and provide us with a 10-minute long concert.

  • Truly amazing how this wonderful movie was panned when it first came out, and new generations are discovering it and praising it. (I'm 62 and have ALWAYS loved it.) For a different take, You Tube search The World is a Circle and Bacharach and watch the early rehearsal process. Can you imagine the thrill it was for these kids to work with him? Just incredible! Peace to us all and may we all find our Shangri La.

  • Awesome song. Otherwise, the whole soundtrack is marvelous!!

  • I really love it. I hope I can find my Shangrila in my lifetime. I have watched the movie countless times and I like the theme song too. I once saw in the TV that it is in the remote part of China. The place is calm and peaceful. I can see tranquility besides its beauty. But is that the place, Shangrila? There are so many places claiming to be Shangrila? They may be true. But whose Shangrila are they?

  • I so wish this song still didn't have the same meaning as it had for the 1937 film(of course updated for the remake musical by Burt.)as today in the middle east.PEACE

  • Wow! I saw this movie and bought the record album. I knew every single word to every song. I especially loved the relationship between Olivia Hussey and Michael York and the surprise twist after they left Shangri-La (I won't spoil it). Such memories.

  • @KarenM526 My all time fav also. Brings back the shangri-la in all of us.

  • beautiful song, thanks for sharing.

  • The song is really meant for "world peace" "or goal of a righteous religion" for the people to live in a peaceful eternal existence, this song will be quite meaningful of your heart is devoid of evil and self delusions :)

  • Obviously the 1970's is the start of Western curiousity when it comes to Eastern beliefs that is why the film flopped, the film is too early for it's time.

  • I wasn't around when the film came out but I love Bacharach and David's music! This is a brilliant song that captures the essence of the film. I wish they would give it a DVD release. I am trying to get sheet music for the film. I really want to play the songs ^_^! BACHARACH RULES!

  • I first saw the movie about 25 yrs. ago & that title song has stayed in my head all these yrs. It's a great song, and Shawn Phillips sings it really well.

  • finally i could find find a worthy postage

after watching many horrible videos about this song

    thanks

  • This is too great!!! Saw this as a kid at the movies.. Wish it would go on DVD

  • This is wonderful. The movie was so uplifting.

  • This movie enchanted me from the first time I saw it back in 1973. You would really have had to be alive then to understand the impact that Burt Bacharach and Hal David had on music at that time, not only in songwriting, but in production and getting many stars on their way.

  • fyi- that's generic "you" as in "one" :-)

  • yes i agree i was seven when i saw this; i was mystified by this movie and loved the novel as well. I love Burt Bachrach and I am so appreciative ton see this again

  • @ticket88

My dad came back from Vietnam with horrible nightmares and only with alot of prodding told a small amount of horrors from both sides. War debases man to his worst not the John Wayne best. And this work of art by Hal and Burt says it all. Peace

  • Thank you for bringing this lost memory back. Such a great song it is really timeless...

  • if only there is indeed a lost horizon like this, nothing would be better than life itself.

  • Simply a brilliant musical score & great vocals

  • One of the best folk singers ever!

I have all his records and enjoy his fantastic voice!

    Thanks bro for this upload!

    Top ratings!

  • Shawn Phillips also did the incredible sitar work in Donovan's song, Three Kingfishers, one of my favorites from the Sunshine Superman album. A video of tha song is on youtube somewhere
