I do not agree with some of his arguments BUT I am also against the saga. There are many beautiful films and books that give us Christian values, that awakens our hearts to love and serve God more, to consider biblical truths [even when the work itself is not Christian].
Twilight does not fall into that category. It is not even about vampires and werewolves. It is more the ideologies and preception of life. e.g. their view of love is sick, needy and doesn't resemble what God describes as love.
Fiction books and movies are entertaining, and they inspire and stimulate our creative minds. Are you trying to scare your audience into a relationship with God? Jesus would enjoy this movie and encourage the writer/director/actors to continue in their pursuit of the arts.
Man, lighten up. I've considered all of your arguments and they simply have no merit. I have read the books as a christian and have no desire to become a vampire, drink blood, sell my soul, etc. etc. I also don't want to become a wererwolf (sp?). Some things are a big deal and some aren't. You are barking up the wrong tree. BTW, Edward considers himself a monster who is damned AND doesn't want to have sex with Bella unless they are married. It doesn't promote vampirism.
As a Christian I respect this mans beliefs. However, I am still unsure what he is arguing against - how can he compare ancient humans offering their children to molech to people reading fiction today? A confusing video - and surely he should read the books before judging them - as athiests might want to research the bible before commenting.
This argument contains no argument.... If you're going to spend 6 minutes ranting about something, you should probably have some idea what you're saying. You're not going to "waste your time", reading "crap"? How are you going to argue something you know nothing about?..... Also, yes Twilight is fiction, much like every made-up story in your 2000 year old bible. Christianity is a farce. And your sad, stuck in the mud attitude is the reason so many are still plagued by war and imprisonment.
This is why the world has somewhat not come to an agreement... for as long as religion has been recorded peace has halted because of it....people ALWAYS put their interest first, people have forgotten what its like to be SPIRITUAL not RELIGIOUS.... religion is a farce.
While, I won't say that I agree with his whole "them books is de debbil" ideals, I do have to agree with him that Twilight does indeed bite (it also sucks *rimshot*).
Simply put: THEY'RE NOT VAMPIRES. They're not affected by Silver, sunlight, garlic, crosses, NOTHING. It's just pure FAIL.
And all the girls lined up for the book/movie release like they offered you free cunnilingus and pudding:
Guys who act like that aren't emotionally torn in need of nurturing.
Sorry Pastor Bob, but you failed to make a single valid argument (The name of the book, it's about a vampire, and blood) and your strawman arguments are pointless.
It is rare today to find fiction novels for adolescents that aren't full of sex, drugs, underaged drinking, and all sorts of other wild living. Twilight is about as clean as they come. It's a book. A fictional book (and that comparing a fiction book to Baal is an invalid argument. It's like comparing an apple to a car)
@mechael1983 Um...no. Not really. I'm a 28 year old father who happened to pick the book up and read it because everyone was making such a big fuss over it being evil. I continue to stand by my comment (that I made over a year ago) in that Pastor Bob made no credible argument.
@mechael1983 According to your profile you're a big fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. How is that "better" than Twilight? Pirates relied on stealing, murder and a host of other evils.
