wow take your statistics somewhere else. There's people suffering with intense dry eye, intense starbursts and halos, no vision at night, etc...I really don't give a damn if it causes complete blindness or not.
Lasik has ruined many more lives than other elective procedures. That's all that should matter.
Be concerned about your safety and avoid the complications by being prepared. check out safelasikguide [dot] com and read the whole site before you make a decision.
Campus Times 10/24/08 Prof. Lisings wife blinded by botched LASIK; Lawyers and Settlement 9/9/2008: "His most recent win is an eye popping $2.1 M settlement recovered for a 47-year old man rendered legally blind because of a Lasik eye surgery procedure."; (Velou SM et al 2002) "...the [LASIK] outcome was very bad... 1 year after surgery, she had no light perception..."; FDA report filed by a LASIK patient on 5/1/2008: "I had lasik surgery... my left eye is legally blind..."
LASIK was the worst decision of my life, it felt like a thousand needles sticking my eyes. They market it like it's painless but it's not. The suction ring felt like it pulled my eyes out of their socket. LASIK promotes permanent conditions with no cure:
-Dry Eye Syndrome
-Double Vision
-Night Halos/Starbursts
-Depression
-Loss of Visual Acuity
-Accelerated Aging of the Eye
-Lack of Natural Tear Production
-Each Year Post LASIK Vision Gets Progressively Worse
"led to disastrous results for patients...." This was a strong statement but not backed up with any supporting information. Please elaborate.

The lazer can't, but the surgery can if you have a sucky doctor who pokes a hole in your eye for example.
